New mock trade has Sixers acquiring Jae Crowder from Suns in a deal

A new mock trade has the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Jae Crowder from the Phoenix Suns in a deal.

The Feb. 9 trade deadline in the NBA is rapidly approaching, and now is the time for teams to think about how they can improve for the stretch run and playoffs.

The Philadelphia 76ers have title aspirations for the 2022-23 season, and they could certainly use another wing player who can play in the postseason. That means somebody who can knock down the 3-pointer while playing solid perimeter defense.

A mock trade from NBA Analysis Network has the Sixers giving the Phoenix Suns a call about acquiring veteran forward Jae Crowder who has finals experience.

3 wing players Sixers should target before February trade deadline

Here are three wing players the Philadelphia 76ers should target before the Feb. 9 trade deadline.

The Philadelphia 76ers are likely to focus on smaller deals to shed salary before the Feb. 9 trade deadline. However, they still have their eyes on a title for the 2022-23 season. Therefore, they will likely look into deals to add depth to the roster.

The Sixers are loaded with talent, but adding one more wing who can play in the postseason would help the team’s overall depth. Especially, since James Harden and Tyrese Maxey have already missed significant time with injuries.

Three wing players who fit what the Sixers want to do come to mind:

Trade rumor rankings: Bradley Beal, Christian Wood and more

HoopsHype ranks the five players who have appeared most often in trade rumors over the past week, led by Bradley Beal and Christian Wood.

The trade market is awfully quiet in the NBA right now but sometimes, that’s what happens right before we see a surprise trade go down.

After all, who would have thought the Boston Celtics would have traded Noah Vonleh as they did last week? Sure, it was a meaningless deal as Vonleh was waived by the San Antonio Spurs but still, you just never know for sure what’s going on behind the scenes in the NBA.

Below, check out our latest trade rumor rankings, where we rank the five players who have appeared most often in trade rumors over the previous week, as judged by appearances on our trade page.

All ex-Boston Celtics vs. today’s team – who would win?

HoopsHype put together a league-wide exercise of the best five players a team has recently moved on from contrasted with the best players they have now.

Whenever an NBA team like the Boston Celtics makes a trade, it is banking on whatever coming back being more of the thing a ball club needs than what they are sending out — even if — in some cases — a team is trying to accumulate draft capital or young talent in a rebuild. The same can be said for players who aren’t re-signed in favor of using a roster spot elsewhere.

So there may be times a team gets worse by design, but that doesn’t stop fans and analysts from dunking on a franchise if a player they dealt away starts playing well later. To be fair, sometimes it’s annoyingly deserved (cough cough Desmond Bane cough), but it can also be a fun exercise to look back on what might have been.

To that end, the staff of HoopsHype put together a league-wide exercise of the best five players a team has recently moved on from contrasted with the best players they have now — let’s see how they rated out the Celtics.

Who are three players the Philadelphia 76ers could target for trades?

Here are three players the Philadelphia 76ers could look at in terms of possible trade options.

The Philadelphia 76ers have begun to turn things around and move forward in a positive direction as they have won four games in a row to begin a 7-game homestand. The Sixers are beginning to move up in the standings, but there is always the possibility of change.

Especially, with Daryl Morey running the show.

Therefore, there are always players out there who the Sixers could look into in order to help the roster. Maybe they could use another two-way guy or somebody who can help the bench unit to help the team grow.

Bleacher Report came up with three targets that the Sixers could look at before the Feb. 9 trade deadline:

On this day: Rondo traded for Crowder; most team assists in ’85

On this day, the Celtics traded Rajon Rondo to the Mavericks for Jae Crowder, and Boston logged 46 assists against Dallas, their most ever.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, the storied franchise traded champion point guard Rajon Rondo and center Dwight Powell to the Dallas Mavericks in 2014 in exchange for small forward Jae Crowder, point guard Jameer Nelson, big man Brandan Wright, draft assets, and a $13 million trade exception.

The move finally brought to an end the last remaining player from the team’s 2008 NBA title tenure with the franchise, Rondo having been with the Celtics since the Phoenix Suns drafted him out of Kentucky with the 21st overall pick of the 2006 NBA draft and dealt him to Boston on draft night.

Powell was a more recent arrival, having come over in the deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers for Keith Bogans in September of that year.

Jae Crowder is a possible trade target for the Brooklyn Nets per B/R

Jae Crowder is on the Nets’ radar per Bleacher Report

Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder is a possible trade target for the Brooklyn Nets, per Bleacher Report earlier this week. Crowder has not played this season as he and the Suns agreed to let him stay home until a trade is found for him.

Crowder is in the last year of his deal and he is owed $10.1 million. Crowder wanted out of Phoenix because he was losing playing to forward Cameron Johnson, who seems to be the forward of the future for the Suns. Crowder is an all-around good player who can provide a good amount to a team like the Nets.

The Nets are currently 18-12 (fourth in the Eastern Conference) and are on a five-game winning streak. Brooklyn appears to be in a groove right now, but they can always use some help in the frontcourt. B/R gives their take on why the Nets would be interested in Crowder:

“If the Nets don’t feel the need to swing that big, then frontcourt depth will be the target. They have nothing behind Nic Claxton at center—Day’Ron Sharpe isn’t a rotation regular—and the forward spots could use someone such as Crowder, who would supply defense, toughness, experience and some degree of shot-making.”

The Nets next game is Sunday at the Detroit Pistons.

Lakers are reportedly interested in Jae Crowder

The Lakers could be looking to trade for Jae Crowder, a veteran forward who could plug at least one hole for them.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing a lot better since their 2-10 start, but they clearly are missing one or two pieces to get them to the next level.

Their depth at the forward position is suspect, and it stuck out like a sore thumb in their heartbreaking 122-118 loss on Tuesday to the Boston Celtics.

One forward who has been available for a while is Phoenix Suns veteran Jae Crowder. He hasn’t played this season, and the Suns have been looking to move him. The Lakers are believed to be one of the teams interested in him.

Via Bleacher Report:

“The 32-year-old forward, who was disappointed Phoenix wouldn’t give him an extension, has been missing in action all season,” wrote Eric Pincus.

“Phoenix was close to sending him to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-way deal with the Rockets. Talks extended to include the Warriors, but nothing came of it. Other teams believed interested include the Heat, Hawks and Lakers.”

Crowder, who is 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, can play both the small forward and power forward positions, which would make him an ideal fit for L.A. He has been known as a tenacious and physical defender, which would fill in the team’s need for someone who can guard the many star and superstar forwards and wings around the NBA.

While he isn’t a great 3-point shooter, he isn’t a bad one either, and he has ample experience. He’s been to the NBA Finals twice.

Crowder makes just over $10 million this season, the final season on his contract, so the Lakers could conceivably acquire him without giving up Russell Westbrook.

Mock trade has Sixers sending Matisse Thybulle to Suns in a deal

A mock trade has the Philadelphia 76ers sending Matisse Thybulle to the Phoenix Suns in a deal.

The Philadelphia 76ers are 12-12 following a winless three-game road trip. The losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Memphis Grizzlies were acceptable, but a loss to the Houston Rockets with both Joel Embiid and James Harden on the floor is tough to accept.

It’s still only December, and a team doesn’t win a title after 24 games. But one has to begin thinking about the future and possible moves that team president Daryl Morey could make to get Philadelphia headed back in the right direction.

A mock trade put together by Bleacher Report has the Sixers sending Matisse Thybulle to the Phoenix Suns in a deal:

New mock trade has Sixers acquiring Jae Crowder from Suns in a deal

A new mock trade has the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Jae Crowder from the Phoenix Suns in a deal.

As the Philadelphia 76ers look to continue to grow as a team, they have begun to turn things around and look like the team many thought they would be after the additions they made in the offseason. After a tough start, they have won seven of their last nine games and are now 12-9 on the season.

With that being said, the Sixers are looking to win a championship in the 2022-23 season and president Daryl Morey is always on the lookout for any possible trades and upgrades he can make to the team.

Phoenix Suns veteran Jae Crowder has been one to watch on the trade market as he continues to wait to be moved out of Phoenix. A mock trade performed by Bleacher Report has the Sixers acquiring Crowder in a deal with the Suns.
