Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff – No. 71 Jacob Hood

The countdown to kickoff for the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ 2024 season is down to 71 days.

With the countdown to the beginning of Nebraska’s 2024 season down to 71 days, redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Jacob Hood is in the player spotlight.

The former Georgia Bulldog is in his second year with the Cornhuskers and third in college football overall. After winning the 2022 national championship with the Bulldogs, Hood left Athens in search for a better fit. That fit eventually would be Lincoln with the Huskers.

In his first year with the program, Hood played in just one game, the Huskers 31-14 win over Purdue on October 28.

In 2024, Hood isn’t in line for a big jupm in playing time, he’ll likely be a third-string offensive lineman for the Huskers at right tackle behind the likes of Bryce Benhart and Tyler Knaack. That being said, he is just one injury away from seeing more playing time.

Overall, there are still a lot of reasons to believe that Hood has the potential to be a starting caliber offensive lineman for the Huskers down the road.

Georgia football OT Jacob Hood enters NCAA transfer portal

Hood is a former three-star recruit

University of Georgia offensive tackle Jacob Hood, who was a member of the class of 2022, has entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot-8, 350-pound offensive tackle did not see the field much during his time in Athens, so he is likely looking to transfer somewhere where he can play more.

Hood, a redshirt freshman, will have four years of eligibility where he decides to transfer to. Hood could remain with Georgia.

Hood played football for Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee. Hood was rated as a three-star recruit by many of the major recruiting sites coming into Georgia.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are losing star offensive tackle Broderick Jones to the 2023 NFL draft. Several other Georgia offensive linemen, such as center Sedrick Van Pran, have to make NFL draft decisions in the next couple of days.

Hood thanked Georgia and announced that he was entering the transfer portal via Twitter:

MASSIVE OL Jacob Hood signs with Georgia

Jacob Hood signs with Georgia. BIG get.

Georgia announced that 3-star offensive lineman Jacob Hood has signed his national letter of intent and will be a Bulldog next season.

Hood ranks as the nation’s No. 409 overall player and as the No. 33 ranked offensive tackle according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

The obvious thing that stands out about Hood is his size. Out of Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee, Hood stands at 6-foot-8 and weighs 342 pounds.

Hood posted a well-edited video announcing his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Twitter back in September. Hood additionally took time to thank his family in the video.

Florida loses out on 3-star offensive lineman to Georgia

Jacob Hood will play in the SEC East one day but not for the Florida Gators.

Florida has once again failed to get one of its offensive line targets for the recruiting class of 2022. Three-star offensive tackle Jacob Hood committed to the University of Georgia on Monday over Florida, Auburn, LSU, Miami and Ole Miss.

The Bulldogs were the favorites going into the day, but Florida held out some hope to land the 6-foot-8-inch prospect. The Gators joined the party late in June and never secured a campus visit for Hood, which likely hurt the program’s chances.

Florida does have four-star Tony Livingston and three-star David Conner in the class so far. With Hood out of the picture, Ja’Kavion Nonar is the next target up on Florida’s radar. He recently de-committed from Pitt after receiving offers from several programs, including UF.

There is still a chance for the Gators to successfully pursue either Julian Armella or Malik Agbo — both of whom are four-star tackles considered to have interest in Florida — but the competition for them is more fierce than it is for Nonar.

This Florida OL target set to announce his pledge Monday

UF has two offensive linemen committed but is still looking to take a few more like Jacob Hood who is making his decision public Monday.

The targets on Florida’s offensive line board this cycle have been a revolving door due to its struggles to land prospects. One name that has consistently been near the top of the Gators’ board is three-star offensive tackle Jacob Hood. He is a 6-foot-8-inch, 340-pound monster from Nashville, Tennessee. Hood plans to make his commitment public on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. EDT.

He will be choosing between Florida, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Miami and Ole Miss. Florida joined his recruitment later than the other schools mentioned. The Gators offered him on June 16 and failed to get him on campus for a visit.

Because of their inability to get Hood to the Swamp, fans shouldn’t expect Florida to be the pick Monday. On 247Sports, UGA is currently the favorite because all five crystal balls are logged in the Bulldogs’ favor.

The Gators will most likely turn their attention toward three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar. He decommitted from Pitt on Aug. 17 after he received scholarship offers from Florida and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-8, 340-pound offensive tackle visited Georgia on June 11.

3-Star Target posts Auburn graphic with Joe Burrow’s Heisman Trophy

Auburn’s design team made an interesting decision here…

Auburn’s graphics team used a picture of former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow’s Heisman Trophy.

In recruiting, image is everything. At Auburn, the school does a great job at getting graphics in the hands of recruits so they can post them on their personal social media pages.

On Tuesday, Jacob Hood, a 3-star recruit from Nashville, Tennessee, posted a picture on his Twitter page. The graphic was him standing next to a Heisman Trophy with the words “Heisman Hood” below him.

On the Heisman Trophy, it has Burrow’s name on it. The interesting thing about this is that Auburn has three Heisman winners in its history.

Interesting design choice.

In-state 2022 offensive lineman lists Tennessee in top-6

Tennessee Vols’ football recruiting news.

First-year UT head coach Josh Heupel is recruiting Tennessee’s 2022 signing class.

Offensive line prospect Jacob Hood has listed the Vols in his top six.

Baylor, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU and Mississippi State join Tennessee in Hood’s top-six schools.

The 6-foot-8, 342-pound Hood is from Hillsboro High School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Heupel was introduced as the Vols’ head coach on Jan. 27.

During Heupel’s introductory press conference, he placed an emphasis on recruiting in-state prospects.

“The most important thing that we do is lock down our boarders,” Heupel said at his introductory press conference. “We have to keep kids inside this state here. That’s for multiple reasons.

“They’re going to come play championship-caliber football. They’re going to be developed. They’re going to have the opportunity to move on to the NFL. They’re going to get a great degree, and they’re going to be empowered to live inside this state once they’re done with that degree — but we have to do that inside our own borders.”
