4-star WR Izaiah Williams flips from Florida and signs with Texas A&M

4-star wide receiver Izaiah Williams announced today on Instagram his decision to flip his commitment from Florida to sign with the Aggies.

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko held a press conference on Wednesday evening to recap what had been an eventful first day of the early signing period for Class of 2024 recruits.

Elko was a couple of minutes late to the 5 p.m. CT gathering because he was glued to his phone, tuned in on Instagram Live. To say his time was well spent is an understatement.

Elko and thousands of others tuned in to hear 4-star wide receiver Izaiah Williams announce his decision to flip his commitment from Florida and sign with Texas A&M.

“What really stood out to me with Texas A&M is the vision they have,” Williams told Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. “I feel my skill set best aligns with their program to be successful. They have key components that will help develop me not only as a player but as a person as well.”

Williams is listed at 6-foot and 175 pounds from Carrollwood Day High School in Zephyrhills, Fla. Zephyrhills is a suburb of Tampa and Izaiah is 1-of-2 prospects from the Tampa area with the Williams last name to sign with the Aggies on Wednesday, joining 4-star edge rusher Solomon Williams.

Izaiah originally committed to the Gators program Cinco de Mayo but received an official offer from Texas A&M on Oct. 20. The rest, as they say, is history.

Florida loses another 4-star, this time to Texas A&M Aggies

Florida’s 2024 recruiting class has taken another hit. Four-star wide receiver Izaiah Williams flipped to Texas A&M on Wednesday.

Florida’s early signing period bleed continued late into Wednesday as in-state wide receiver [autotag]Izaiah Williams[/autotag] flipped from UF to Texas A&M.

Williams signed shortly after announcing the flip, sending in his national letter of intent to the Aggies. Florida had Williams under commitment for over seven months.

“What really stood out to me with Texas A&M is the vision they have,” Williams said to On3. “I feel my skill set best aligns with their program to be successful. They have key components that will help develop me not only as a player but as a person as well.”

Williams is a four-star talent, according to On3 and Rivals, but 247Sports and ESPN think he’s a three-star. He retained four-star status on the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major services, though. He checks in at No. 318 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 54 among wide receivers.

Florida signed receivers Tawaski “TJ” Abrams and Jerrae Hawkins Jr., as well as four-star tight end Amir Jackson. Former Wisconsin wide receiver Chimere Dike transferred in.

2024 4-Star WR and Florida commit is taking an official visit to Texas A&M this weekend

After receiving an offer in late October, Texas A&M is currently hosting 2024 4-star WR and Florida commit Izaiah Williams this weekend.

Some potentially great news regarding Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is on the horizon, as 2024 four-star wide receiver Izaiah Williams, who is currently committed to Florida, has made his way to College Station for an official visit with new Aggies head coach Mike Elko.

While the Gator’s recruiting woes have been notable, Texas A&M has now lost eight commits, including every wide receiver prospect outside of 2024 three-star Ernest Campbell. Desperate to at least put a bandage over the situation, adding a quick-twitched speedster like Williams could result in more additions ahead of National Signing Day in February.

While not everyone was up to date on his visit, InsideGators revealed Williams’ flight plan to Houston, Texas, on Friday afternoon could be just a routine official visit or the makings of a potential flip.

According to 247Sports Composite, Williams is currently positioned as the 52nd-ranked wide receiver and the 44th-ranked player in Florida, as the Carrollwood Day senior has been committed to Florida since May 5. Williams stands at 6’0″ and 172 pounds.

Four-star Florida commit could take official visit to Texas

Florida wide receiver commit Izaiah Williams says he’s locked in with Florida but he could still take an official visit to Texas.

Four-star class of 2024 wide receiver [autotag]Izaiah Williams[/autotag] committed to Florida in May, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from recruiting him.

The University of Texas is the latest program to throw its hat in the ring, and Williams is considering an official visit to Austin as a result, according to Gators Online.

“That’s a pretty big offer,” Williams said. “Since when I first started getting recruited, I’ve been wanting that offer.”

Williams maintains that he’s “still locked in with Florida,” but there’s no denying that he’s keeping his options open. The Gators are supposed to host him for the Arkansas game over the first weekend of November, and Williams is an expected early enrollee.

If the Longhorns are going to sweep in and steal him, they’ll have to act quickly. Although he now attends Carrollwood Day in the Tampa area, Williams lived in Texas for seven years as a child.

Williams is a four-star recruit, according to the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average from all four major recruiting services. He’s ranked No. 334 overall and No. 58 among receivers in the class of 2024.

Gators get first wide receiver commitment in 2024 recruiting cycle

Score another blue-chip victory for Billy Napier and Co.!

Florida football scored its first wide receiver commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle on Friday when four-star prospect [autotag]Izaiah Williams[/autotag] told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he has verbally committed to the Orange and Blue.

The 6-foot, 172-pound pass-catcher out of Tampa (Florida) Carrollwood Day picked the Gators over the LSU Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and Florida State Seminoles, citing academics as a major player in his decision.

“I choose UF for several reasons,” he told Fawcett. “First, UF is one of the top 5 public universities in the nation. Academics plays a huge role in my decision and I feel UF provides me with a premier learning experience within the state of Florida.

“Second, I really love the football program and can see the vision with Coach Napier and Coach Gonzalez and am excited to be a part of this program. I feel I can be a big aspect of this team. Lastly, Florida has been my dream school growing up and I always wanted to play in the SEC which in my opinion is the best conference. I love the atmosphere and feel at home when I’m on campus.”

Williams is ranked No. 325 overall and No. 48 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 297 and 50, respectively. Prior to his commitment, the receiver was favored for Florida at 24.7% by On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Gators offer and host in-state wide receiver over weekend

Florida made a good impression on Carrollwood Day wide receiver Izaiah Williams over the weekend after hosting him on a visit. Williams was offered on Thursday by the Gators.

On Thursday, the Florida Gators offered a scholarship to Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Florida) wide receiver [autotag]Izaiah Williams[/autotag], and the three-star pass catcher quickly made his way to the Swamp on Saturday for another visit with the team, according to Donavan Keiser of Gators Online.

Williams most recently visited Gainesville in January to stop by the Swamp for one of Florida’s Junior Days. Following this visit, one where he got to meet with the team’s new receivers coach Billy Gonzalez, Williams sees himself returning to UF soon.

“They welcomed me like I was here like it was home, great hospitality,” he said to Keiser. “Definitely see myself coming back here watching the spring game and just trying to get, you know, used to the family and build that chemistry with everyone else.”

Williams got to see Gonzalez run practice and liked what he saw. Gonzalez is “down to earth” and will let you know when something isn’t right. That’s the style of coaching Williams prefers, so it looks like Florida is checking off some of his boxes.

Official visits will likely come over the summer for Williams. He says Florida is “definitely gonna be one,” but only time will tell if that claim holds true. The plan is to make a decision before his senior season, but plans can change too.

Things look good for Florida right now, though. The On3 recruiting prediction machine has USF on top with the best odds to land him at 8.8%, and a good visit to the Swamp could easily put Florida at No. 1 on that list.

Rivals.com is the only recruiting service that gives Williams a four-star grade. The 247Sports composite ranks him at No. 420 overall and No. 61 among wide receivers in the class of 2024.
