Three transfers Texas needs to see the most from in 2022

These three transfers will be vital to Texas’ success in 2022.

One of the biggest headlines of the offseason for Texas was the amount of talent they inherited from the transfer portal.

Their transfer portal class currently ranks No. 8 according to 247Sports’ rankings, and they may even see their ranking rise a tad should they add another transfer or two. The pressure on these transfers is at an all-time high due to the underperformance that not only last year’s transfers had, but the team as a whole.

In an effort to bolster the roster in 2021, Steve Sarkisian and company took in a handful of transfers that were reserves at powerhouses like Alabama, LSU, and Notre Dame, but it’s fair to say that all but one of the transfers (Ovie Oghoufo) did not perform even remotely close to expectations.

Now granted when Sarkisian took the job it was a quick turnaround so he didn’t have a chance to really scour the transfer portal, but this offseason he took full advantage of the extra time allotted due to the fact Texas missed a bowl game.

He was able to add talent to both sides of the ball, mainly the offense which is huge considering the Longhorns lost a handful of starters. While all the transfers will likely play a huge role in the 2022 season, there are three that Texas absolutely needs to have a big season in order to compete in the Big 12 and beyond. While all of the the transfers brought in will likely have a big role, these three stand out as having season-determining roles.

Does Agiye Hall have the skillset to be Texas’ best receiver?

WATCH: Texas WR coach Brennan Marion mic’d up during spring practice

Brennan Marion has hit the ground running since his arrival in Austin.

Somewhat lost amongst the many big-time storylines from Texas football this offseason, Steve Sarkisian hired Brennan Marion from Pitt to take over as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.

Marion has hit the ground running since his arrival in Austin. His transfer portal additions Isaiah Neyor and Agiye Hall bring excellent talent and experience to a position in desperate need.

Neyor flashed his skillset to Texas fans in the spring game as he hauled in a 62-yard touchdown pass from Quinn Ewers.

The players have taken an early liking to Marion as well. Senior wide receiver Jordan Whittington spoke highly about his relationship with his new position coach.

“He’s like a really close friend, but also, when it’s time to coach, we respect him as a coach, because he has all this new-age stuff that he does to where it’s like we’re always learning something new every day.”

It is easy to see why Marion has been so successful. The energy he brings to practices stands out and he finds ways to get the best out of his players.

Everything Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the spring game

Steve Sarkisian had a lot of positive things to say after the spring game.

Texas’ spring game came and went, but not without a frenzy of excitement surrounding the offensive fireworks displayed on the field.

After going 5-7 in his first season as the Texas head coach, Steve Sarkisian put a major emphasis on cleaning house of guys not bought into his culture, while also bringing in significant upgrades all over the field. On Saturday, Texas fans got their first sneak peak at some of the new players that will be donning the burnt orange, and they were not disappointed.

The arial attack displayed by Quinn Ewers to Isaiah Neyor has already made its infinite rounds on the internet, and has only helped fuel the debate of who should start between he and Hudson Card.

Both the offense and defense had their moments, and like every coach would, Sarkisian had some thoughts on what could be better after the game.

Here is what Sarkisian said after the Longhorns spring game.
