Defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney, Ziggy Ansah uncertain for Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks could be down a couple of defenders against the Cardinals if Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah are unable to play.

The Seattle Seahawks could be down a couple of defensive ends Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals if Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah are unable to return from injuries. Both players were inactive Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers.

Clowney has been battling a sports hernia (core) issue over the last few weeks of the season. Opting not to undergo surgery at this point, he’s been pushing through the pain. But last week, Clowney was also sidelined by the flu, unable to even travel with the team.

As for Ansah, he’s still been fighting a neck injury.

Coach Pete Caroll did say both defenders would get some practice in starting Wednesday, however.

“I can’t tell you, that I don’t know,” Carroll responded when asked if Clowney and Ansah would be ready to suit up Week 16. “We’ve got to get through the week and see what happens. They are both going to get work today and we’ll just see how we progress and see if it’s right for those guys to play.

“I’m hoping – we’d love to get get them both back, but I can’t tell you right now.”

Ansah and Clowney have a number of days to prove they are ready to roll before the final injury report of the week comes out on Friday.

Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett returns to top form against Panthers

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has been battling to get back to full health over the last month seeing limited production on gamedays.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has been battling to get back to full health over the last month seeing limited production on gamedays.

First sidelined with a lower leg injury following the Seahawks Week-10 win in San Francisco, Lockett then succumbed to the flu, logging only five receptions over his last three outings.

Finally healthy for the Week 15 start in Carolina, Lockett once again proved just what he is capable of when feeling 100%.

Lockett started strong on Sunday when he connected with quarterback Russell Wilson for 44 yards in the middle of the first quarter, hauling in an inconceivable catch.

Finishing the day as the Seahawks leading receiver, Lockett managed eight catches on nine targets for 120 yards and a touchdown.

Here’s a look at Lockett’s score in the second quarter on a 19-yard TD pass from Wilson.

After his impressive performance against the Panthers, it’s safe to say the Seahawks No. 1 is 100% back in action and ready to roll, just as his quarterback predicted ahead of the matchup.

Seahawks in good shape after illness circulated through locker room

The Seattle Seahawks have been battling flu and cold season, but the illness that has circulated the locker room seems to have passed.

It’s that time of year for fans – flu and cold season – and it’s no different for NFL teams around the league. Over the last couple of weeks, an illness has circulated around the Seattle Seahawks locker room, impacting a number of players.

Fortunately for Seattle, the bug seems to have passed.

“Well, it was really directed – focused – we practiced hard,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday afternoon. “We backed off today because we worked so hard the last couple days. We’re in good shape and we’re ready to go. We’ve done the things that we do. I think everybody’s really tuned in to making sure that we come back and play really good ball this week. It showed throughout the week. We’re in good shape.”

As of the final injury report, only one player remained listed as sick – defensive end Jadeveon Clowney – who is also battling a sports hernia.

Clowney has ultimately been ruled out for Sunday in Carolina, however, the illness that has stricken the locker room no longer looks to be a factor.

Russell Wilson: Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett is 100% ready to roll

After battling a leg injury and an illness, Seattle Seahawks quarterback believes his wide receiver, Tyler Lockett, is finally ready to roll.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been without the full assistance of No. 1 wide receiver Tyler Lockett over the last couple of games as the wideout first battled a leg injury and then the illness that had spread throughout Seattle’s locker room.

“Tyler is a huge part of our offense,” Wilson told reporters Thursday. “We want to get him going throughout the game and just get him the football. He’s such a special player. You definitely notice him on the field when he’s making those plays.”

Lockett has only logged five receptions over his last three outings but with the playoff push a huge factor, he remains critical to the Seahawks’ game plan going forward.

“Yeah, I think Tyler’s ready to roll – 100%,” Wilson said. “He looks fresh and ready to play some great football. We got a three-game push right here. One game at a time. We’re looking forward to that opportunity. Everything that we want is ahead of us. We’re 10-3. There’s no time for ‘woe is me’ or anything like that. We’re ready to roll and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of finding ways to win and getting to the playoffs hopefully and hopefully go a long way.”

Lockett was a full participant in Thursday’s practice but still remains listed on the report with a shin injury.

Hindered last few outings, Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett on the mend

After suffering a leg bruise and then battling an injury, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett appears to be on the mend for Week 14.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has had a rough couple of weeks. First sidelined after the Week 10 outing against the San Francisco 49ers, Lockett was battling an illness Monday night in the team’s win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Lockett has not yet been 100% since suffering the leg bruise in San Francisco. He did recover well enough over the bye week to appear in the next matchup against the Eagles but only posted one reception in the game.

Last Monday, Lockett also saw the field, although he was struggling to fight the illness that had been circling the Seahawks locker room throughout the week. He logged no catches in the win over the Vikings.

Coach Pete Carroll is hoping Lockett will be back to his usual self Sunday night when Seattle travels to Los Angeles to face the Rams in primetime.

“I’m anxious for him to have this week and get back at it, you know,” Carroll told reporters Wednesday. “He was really sick last week – real sick as a couple guys were – and it just takes a lot out of you. He’s doing better.”

The first practice report of the week will be released later Wednesday afternoon so we’ll get a glimpse at Lockett’s participation status then.

Seahawks list several players on Week 13 injury report with illness

A number of Seattle Seahawks players were added to the injury report Week 13 with an illness that has been going around the team.

The Seattle Seahawks had a fairly lengthy injury report to finish out the practice week before the Monday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

While a number of players were battling injuries, quite a few popped up on the report with an “illness” that coach Pete Carroll said was “going around” the team.

“It’s been an interesting week for us, the practices have been really good,” Carroll told reporters Saturday after the walkthrough. “We’ve had some guys that have had the illness that’s going around. So, we’ve kept some guys out. Everybody we think of those guys are going to play. There’s no reason that they won’t other than they feel lousy. It’s been a very good week and very pointed.”

Carroll said he allowed a few players to stay home in an attempt to quarantine those who were sick.

Players listed on the report with an “illness” included linebacker Shaquem Griffin, defensive tackle Poona Ford, cornerback Tre Flowers, guard Jordan Roos and wide receivers Tyler Lockett and David Moore.

Carroll did confirm there were no new cases of the illness as of Saturday and he expects all the impacted players will be available against the Vikings Monday night.

Seattle and Minnesota kick-off at 5:15 p.m. from CenturyLink Field.

Lonzo Ball will play Sunday against Thunder

Alvin Gentry announced Ball is back after missing the last two games due to illness and will make his ninth start of the season against OKC.

The New Orleans Pelicans have updated the status of Lonzo Ball.

Ball was initially listed as questionable after dealing with a stomach virus, but Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry updated the guard’s status just after 2:30 p.m. CT Sunday.

Ball did not play in the Pelicans’ loss to Oklahoma City on Friday night and had missed the previous two games due to illness.

New Orleans also announced that Ball will return to the starting lineup after recently serving as a reserve. Sunday will be the ninth start this season for the third-year guard. In 11 games so far this season, Ball is averaging 11.1 points and 5.7 assists in 27.1 minutes per game.

Ball will take the place of Kenrich Williams who is out Sunday dealing with an ankle injury.

Williams did not score in the Thunder’s 109-104 win two days ago, and played only seven minutes, taking just one shot from the field.

The Thunder and Pelicans will tip-off inside the Smoothie King Center at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
