Georgia tight end prospect lists Texas among top 10 schools

Texas is in the hunt for a top tight end in 2026.

On Thursday Georgia product and four-star tight end Heze Kent named his top 10 schools on X, formerly Twitter.

Among those 10 teams, you will find the Texas Longhorns among several other SEC programs such as Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, and Tennessee Vols. With how the offense performed over the last several seasons, especially with the breakout of Ja’Tavion Sanders, many more tight ends should want to come to play in Austin.

The Longhorns are heading into the 2024 season with one tight end from the Peach State already committed in the 2025 cycle, Emaree Winston. Winston is a four-star prospect and is rated as the No. 12 tight end in the country.

Kent is rated as the No. 7 tight end in the country and the No. 17 prospect from the state of Georgia in the 2026 cycle. Texas has one commitment to that class as of now. Three-star athlete Raycine Guillory committed to the Horns on Jan. 20 of this year.

Georgia 2026 4-star tight end has Ohio State football in his top 10

Although the 2026 class is over a year away from its first signing day, Ohio State football is still working hard on adding prospects to its class.

The Buckeyes have one current commit in the cycle, wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., and are working hard on multiple others. One of them is Georgia tight end, [autotag]Heze Kent[/autotag], who released his top 10 list on Thursday.

Ohio State will have to battle schools like Georgia, Texas, USC, Colorado, Florida, and others for the nations No. 138 prospect and 7th ranked tight end according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Buckeyes offered just a few weeks ago, so it’s clear that it has made an impact on Kent’s recruitment.

There is still a long way to go, but Ohio State is in a good position to potentially land one of the best tight ends of the 2026 cycle.

LSU offers 2026 EDGE from Georgia

On3 lists Heze Kent as an edge, but he also seemingly gets quite a few reps at tight end.

[autotag]Heze Kent[/autotag] is a 6-foot-6, 245-pound EDGE rusher from the class of 2026. He is from Brunswick, Georgia where he plays for Brunswick High School. The Brunswick Pirates finished the 2022 season 10-1 with an overtime loss to Houston County in the first round of the GHSA 6A playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Kent and there are no favorites per On3.

Film Analysis: Kent is listed as an EDGE by On3, but all of the clips from his highlight film are from him as a tight end. He shows off his athleticism by making good catches and being tough to tackle. We’ll see how his recruitment develops.
