Tua Tagovailoa to train in judo over offseason to learn how to properly fall

Tua Tagovailoa remains resilient in becoming the best player he can be, even if it means learning how to fall.

As silly as it may sound, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be spending some serious time in the 2023 offseason learning how to fall. He plans on training in judo to help him understand his body in motion and help prevent injuries that have sidelined him, he said on Up and Adams.

Over the course of the 2022 NFL regular season, Tagovailoa hit the ground pretty hard at least three times, which caught the attention of football fans and led to numerous concerns. He also had two diagnosed concussions.

On multiple occasions, Tagovailoa would fall on his back, which led to his head seemingly rapidly snapping back and hitting the ground. His plan is to use judo to change how his body is aligned while falling.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Tua Tagovailoa and other former Alabama players now in the NFL.

Seahawks end scrimmage after DE Branden Jackson suffers head injury

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Branden Jackson suffered a head injury during the team’s mock game at CenturyLink Field on Saturday.

The Seattle Seahawks held a mock game at CenturyLink Field on Saturday to replicate the missed preseason and adjust to the stadium without fans. However, the scrimmage was cut short when defensive end Branden Jackson collided with tackle Cedric Ogbuehi and suffered a head injury, rendering him unconscious on the field.

The team’s medical staff attended to Jackson on site but he was ultimately taken away in an ambulance to the hospital.

“I didn’t catch the replay but he hit heads I think with Cedric and it might have caught him in the chin with his helmet, and it was like a knockout punch is what it was,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters. “So we took all the precautions and took care of him. He had movement and all that kind of stuff, but we still needed to do the right thing and totally take care of him until we know more.”

Carroll ended the practice immediately following Jackson’s injury.

“I didn’t think it was right to try to get everybody cranked back up again and go back out,” Carroll continued. “We didn’t need to do that but we had gotten enough done. We’ll take the plays that we got and what we learned from it. We accomplished the things we needed to accomplish coming to the stadium.”

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson proves sportsmanship still alive

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson proved classy after the win over the Eagles when he inquired about Carson Wentz’s status.

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a stunning blow during the wild-card matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, losing starting quarterback Carson Wentz for the remainder of the game after he suffered a head injury during a collision with defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. No penalty was called on the play.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson knows just how devastating the loss can be, empathizing with Philadelphia’s signal-caller and offense as a whole.

“It was tough to see Carson go down,” Wilson said after the win. “He’s such a tremendous football player and had a great year. I don’t really know what his status was fully. To be honest with you, I thought Josh [McCown] came in and did a great job, too . . . It shows you how important the position is and he did a great job of that.”

Immediately following the game, Wilson and Eagles coach Doug Pederson shared a hug and handshake on the field. Wilson promptly inquired about Wentz’s status. The moment was caught on video.

Although no flag was thrown at the time, Clowney’s hit on Wentz remains controversial – depending on who you ask.

“I didn’t see the play so I can’t really answer on that in particular,” Wilson explained. “I know they are trying to protect the players and stuff like that, but I didn’t get to see the play, unfortunately.”
