Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger-Cats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Week 9 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

Week 9 of the CFL season continues Saturday as the Montreal Alouettes (3-3) face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3-4) on the road for their 2nd matchup of the year. Kickoff for Saturday’s game is at 7 p.m. ET at Tim Hortons Field (CBS Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The 2 teams met June 23 at Hamilton, where the Alouettes blew out the Tiger-Cats 38-12 as 2.5-point favorites.

The Alouettes snapped a 3-game losing streak last week, beating Calgary at home 25-18 as 1.5-point favorites. The Under (49.5) hit in the game.

The Tiger-Cats, after starting the season 0-3, have won 3 of their last 4 games. Last week, they beat Ottawa on the road 16-12 as 1.5-point underdogs. The Under (47.5) cashed in.

Alouettes at Tiger-Cats picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 23, Alouettes 19

Moneyline

The Tiger-Cats have won 3 of their last 4 games, allowing an average of 18 points per game in the wins.

The Als scored a season-high 38 in their win over Hamilton June 23. They have averaged 18.6 per game in the other 5 games.

I’m feeling Hamilton’s streak here of late.

BET TIGER-CATS (+125).

Against the spread

Both teams have identical ATS and S/U records. Both have covered the spread in their wins and failed to do so in their losses.

The Tiger-Cats are 3-2 ATS (and 3-2 S/U) as underdogs.

The Als have won and covered the spread in both games in which they were favored.

But expecting an outright Hamilton win, the plus odds on the moneyline have a much better value.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Three of the Als games this season have surpassed 45 total points, including the matchup between the 2 teams earlier this season.

Four of Hamilton’s games have had more than 45 total points.

Only 1 of Hamilton’s wins has reached at least 46 total points.

BET UNDER 45.5 (-115).

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ottawa Redblacks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ottawa Redblacks Week 8 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-4) and Ottawa Redblacks (3-3) meet Friday at TD Place Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tiger-Cats vs. Redblacks odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Tiger-Cats failed to cover the spread as 10.5-point home underdogs with a 31-15 loss vs. the Toronto Argonauts last Friday. QB Bo Levi Mitchell (hip) will return Friday after missing the last 4 games.

The Redblacks covered as 4.5-point underdogs in a 43-41 overtime win at the Calgary Stampeders Sunday. Since QB Dustin Crum has become the starter, Ottawa is 2-0 straight up and against the spread.

In the 1st meeting this season between these teams, the Tiger-Cats won 21-13 as 1.5-point home underdogs July 8.

Tiger-Cats at Redblacks picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 23, Redblacks 21

Moneyline

The Tiger-Cats have won 2 of their last 3 games and Mitchell’s return should give them the boost needed to bounce back after getting blown out last time out.

The Redblacks are on a short week and are coming off back-to-back overtime wins. While Ottawa is 2-0 in Crum’s starts, it may be fatigued having to play its 3rd game in 14 days.

BET TIGER-CATS (+105).

Against the spread

Hamilton +1.5 (-110) should cover, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the spread when the Tiger-Cats should beat the Redblacks straight up for the 9th straight time.

PASS. Bet the moneyline and/or the total instead.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-1 in Hamilton’s last 5 games after failing to cover in its previous contest. The Under has also hit in 6 of the last 8 meetings between these teams and should cash again Friday as Ottawa’s offense comes back down to Earth.

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Toronto Argonauts at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Week 7 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Argonauts (4-0) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-3) meet Friday at Tim Hortons Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Argonauts improved to 4-0 against the spread (ATS) after covering as 6-point favorites with a 35-27 win at the Montreal Alouettes last Friday. Pro Football Focus gave QB Chad Kelly a grade of 93.4, the highest single-game grade by any player this season, after going 21-of-25 passing with 351 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT.

The Tiger-Cats covered as 1-point underdogs with a 37-29 win at the Edmonton Elks July 13. Hamilton opened as a 2.5-point favorite at most books, before the line eventually moved toward Edmonton.

It was announced Tuesday that Tiger-Cats backup QB Matthew Shiltz (hip) will join 1st-string QB Bo Levi Mitchell (lower-body injury) on the 6-game injured list. QB Taylor Powell will make his 1st start in the CFL Friday.

In the 1st meeting this season between these teams, Toronto won 32-14 as a 2.5-point home underdog June 18. The Argonauts have won and covered vs. Hamilton in each of the last 3 meetings.

Argonauts at Tiger-Cats picks and predictions

Prediction

Argonauts 35, Tiger-Cats 24

Moneyline

Toronto (-450) should beat Hamilton for a 4th straight time, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the moneyline when the Argonauts should win by margin.

PASS. Look to the spread and/or the total instead.

Against the spread

The Argonauts have picked up right where they left off after winning the 109th Grey Cup last season. Toronto is undefeated ATS and Kelly has looked like a top-4 QB in the CFL this season.

While the Tiger-Cats have looked better in their last 2 games, they have struggled vs. the Argonauts in the last 3 meetings. To make matters worse, Hamilton will be rolling out Powell in his 1st CFL start vs. an Argonauts defense that leads the league with 13 takeaways.

While I do believe Toronto will cover this number, I liked it a lot more when the Argonauts were just 7-point favorites up until Thursday morning.

LEAN ARGONAUTS -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Toronto leads the CFL with 17 TDs and the Over has hit in each of its last 3 games.

Hamilton’s opponents have scored an average of 30.8 points per game this season and the Tiger-Cats should struggle to contain 1 of the best offenses in the league in the Argonauts.

While I don’t expect the Tiger-Cats to match pace with the Argonauts, Toronto should be able to do most of the heavy lifting offensively to help the Over hit Friday.

BET OVER 50.5 (-110).

Edmonton ramains winless and lost its 5th straight game, 12-11 on the road to Saskatchewan, The Elks covered the spread for the 1st time all season, beating the 7-point spread as underdogs. The Under (44.0) cashed in.

Tiger-Cats at Elks picks and predictions

Prediction

Elks 25, Tiger-Cats 20

Moneyline

These are 2 struggling teams. Hamilton scored a combined 26 points before their 21-13 win last week. In their 3 losses, they allowed an average of 37.3 points per game. Edmonton scored 31 in their Week 3 loss, but the Elks have scored a total of 31 points combined in their other 4 games, with 13 being their high otherwise.

Edmonton’s defense has been better than Hamiton’s. Excluding a 42-31 loss to Toronto, the Elks have allowed 19.3 points per game.

This is where Edmonton picks up its 1st win of the year.

BET ELKS (+100).

Against the spread

Both teams covered the spread for the 1st time last week. But expecting a win by the Elks outright, while betting the spread isn’t a bad play, you get even money on the moneyline.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-1 in the Elks’ 5 games while the Tiger-Cats are 2-2 O/U. However, with Hamilton’s defense giving up 31.3 points per game and with Edmonton putting up 31 points in a loss already, we could see a bit of a shootout.

BET OVER 42.5 (-110).

Ottawa Redblacks at Hamilton Tiger-Cats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Ottawa Redblacks at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Week 5 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Ottawa Redblacks (1-2) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-3) meet Saturday at Tim Hortons Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Redblacks vs. Tiger-Cats odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Redblacks covered the spread as 2.5-point home favorites with a 26-7 win vs. the Edmonton Elks June 30. Ottawa had lost its first 2 games by an average margin of 9.0 points.

Redblacks QB Jeremiah Masoli will make his season debut Saturday vs. his former team in Hamilton.

In their last game, the Tiger-Cats failed to cover as 2.5-point home favorites in a 38-12 loss to vs. the Montreal Alouettes June 23. Backup QB Matthew Shiltz threw for 345 yards with 2 INTs in his 1st start of the season after QB Bo Levi Mitchell (lower-body injury) landed on the 6-game injured list.

Redblacks at Tiger-Cats picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 24, Redblacks 16

Moneyline

It’s unlikely that Hamilton (-135) will lose its 4th straight game to start the season. However, there’s no need to pay the higher price on the ML when the Tiger-Cats should cover this short spread with a victory.

PASS on the moneyline, and look to laying the points and/or betting the total instead.

Against the spread

Masoli’s return to Hamilton may serve as a distraction for the Redblacks QB, who will be playing in his 1st game since suffering a leg injury vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders July 8, 2022. While Masoli will likely be an upgrade over Adams, it should take the 34-year-old QB at least a few games before he starts elevating Ottawa (3rd-worst offense in 2022 with 19.6 points per game).

While Hamilton has looked hopeless this season, it is coming off a bye week and will be playing in its 2nd straight home game. Shiltz should improve after a disappointing performance last time out and lead Hamilton to its 8th straight head-to-head win over the Redblacks.

BET TIGER-CATS -1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Ottawa is averaging just 17.7 points per game this season and the Under has hit in all 3 of its contests.

The Under has hit in 7 of Hamilton’s last 9 games after a bye week and should cash again Saturday, especially since neither team has shown signs of being explosive on offense this season.

BET UNDER 44.5 (-110).

Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger-Cats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger-Cats Week 3 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-0) and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2) meet Friday at Tim Hortons Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Alouettes covered the spread as 2-point home favorites June 10 with a 19-12 win vs. the Ottawa Redblacks. QB Cody Fajardo threw for 261 yards and rushed for a TD in his 1st game as an Alouette.

The Tiger-Cats failed to cover as 2.5-point favorites Sunday in a 32-14 loss at the Toronto Argonauts. QB Bo Levi Mitchell sustained a lower-body injury in the 4th quarter and was forced to leave. Coach Orlondo Steinauer told reporters Tuesday that the newly-signed QB will not suit up for Hamilton’s home opener and backup Matt Shiltz will instead get the start.

Alouettes at Tiger-Cats picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 23, Alouettes 16

Moneyline

Despite not having its 1st-string QB, HAMILTON (-135) should get its 1st win of the season in its home opener. FanDuel is offering the lowest line on Hamilton ML industry-wide, which makes -135 a good bet, especially if you believe the line will move toward the Tiger-Cats closer to kickoff.

For those who would like to risk less money for the same payout, laying the points with Hamilton is also an option.

Against the spread

BET TIGER-CATS -2.5 (-110).

The Tiger-Cats were overvalued at Toronto but now face an Alouettes team that scored just 19 points last time out. Fajardo doesn’t seem fully comfortable in Montreal’s system yet, while Hamilton should be able feed off of its home crowd after 2 bad losses on the road. The Tiger-Cats are 37-18-2 ATS in their last 57 Friday games, according to Covers.com, and the atmosphere at Tim Hortons Field should be too much for an Alouettes squad that struggled on offense in its season opener.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 44.5 (-115).

Neither team has been impressive on offense so far. Montreal only scored 1 TD in its season opener and Hamilton is coming off a 14-point performance at Toronto. The Under has hit in 6 of the last 7 meetings between these teams and should cash again Friday as Montreal goes on the road and continues to struggle offensively.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-1) and the Toronto Argonauts (0-0) battle Sunday at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/CFL+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The good news is that the Ti-Cats were able to score 31 points last weekend, the 2nd-highest total in the CFL in Week 1. The bad news is that Hamilton allowed 41 points to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a road loss, failing to cover the 4.5-point spread as the Over (46.5) cashed by a mile.

The Ti-Cats D was gouged for 354 passing yards, while also allowing 138 yards on the ground. Hamilton allowed 7.7 yards per play to the Bombers, and that simply will not do against the defending Grey Cup champs.

The Argonauts are well rested, having a bye in Week 1. Toronto is the last CFL team to make its regular-season debut, and it has had plenty of time to devise a plan for Hamilton. Toronto won 3 of the 4 meetings last season, while also going 3-1 ATS as the Over connected 3 times.

In the most recent matchup at BMO Field in Toronto, the Argos topped the Ti-Cats 37-20 on Aug. 26, 2022, to win outright as a 1-point underdog while the Over (48) comfortably cashed.

Tiger-Cats at Argonauts picks and predictions

Prediction

Argonauts 27, Tiger-Cats 22

Moneyline

TORONTO (+115) has a pretty lengthy injury report, and missing Ambles and Muamba will be big losses for the defending champs.

However, to say again, this is the defending champs, at home, after plenty of rest. The Argonauts owned the Ti-Cats last season, and there is no reason to really like what we saw from Hamilton last season. Winnipeg went through this defense like a hot knife through butter, and Toronto should have plenty of success moving the ball in its initial outing of the 2023 CFL campaign.

Against the spread

TORONTO +2.5 (-115) will cost you a little more than the moneyline, but if you believe it will be a super close game, then it is worth a little bit of insurance, I guess.

Personally, I like the moneyline play much better, as each of the past 6 in this series has been decided by 7 or more points.

Over/Under

OVER 46.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly.

We haven’t seen Toronto this season, but we got a good look at Hamilton. It was trucked for huge chunks of real estate each play against Winnipeg last weekend. Until the Ti-Cats show vast improvement defensively, keep playing Overs when they’re involved. The Over is 4-1 in the past 5 meetings in this series, too, including each of the past 2 in T-Dot.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Winnipeg Blue Bombers Week 1 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers open their seasons Friday at IG Field. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Tiger-Cats finished their 2022 season with a 28-17 loss as 1.5-point underdogs at the Montreal Alouettes in the East semifinal. Hamilton had gone 8-10 straight up and 7-11 against the spread (ATS) in the regular season.

The Tiger-Cats signed QB Bo Levi Mitchell in the offseason. The 2-time Grey Cup MVP finished with 9 TDs and 6 INTs as a member of the Calgary Stampeders in 2022.

The Blue Bombers lost as 5-point favorites 24-23 vs. the Toronto Argonauts in the 109th Grey Cup last season. Winnipeg finished their regular season 15-3 straight up, while going 11-7 ATS.

Tiger-Cats at Blue Bombers picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 26, Tiger-Cats 19

Moneyline

PASS.

The Blue Bombers (-200) should get revenge after losing the last meeting 48-31 as 6-point favorites in Hamilton Sept. 17. However, there is no need to pay the higher price on the moneyline when Winnipeg should win by margin. Lay the points and/or bet the total instead.

Against the spread

BET BLUE BOMBERS -5.5 (-105).

The Tiger-Cats should improve this year after bringing in Mitchell, but chemistry may be an issue early on in the season. The Blue Bombers re-signed many of their veteran players in the offseason and should pick up where they left off as arguably the best team in the league. Look for Hamilton to be underwhelming offensively as Winnipeg wins by at least a TD.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 47 (-110).

Winnipeg’s defense should come out extra focused Friday after losing by 1 point in the Grey Cup and giving up 48 points the last time these teams met. Hamilton shouldn’t be too productive offensively early in the season as Mitchell will still be getting adjusted to a new system. I’ll be looking to play Unders in Tiger-Cats games early on until they start to gel offensively or until the market overcorrects.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Montreal Alouettes matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Montreal Alouettes (1-1) host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2) Friday night at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET in the night’s lone CFL game. Below, we look at the Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The winless Ticats are making a change under center this week with Dane Evans taking over for Jeremiah Masoli, according to head coach Orlondo Steinauer. Masoli was limited at practice all week due to a ribs injury. He completed just 62.1% of his passes for 377 yards and a single touchdown against 4 interceptions through two games.

The Als returned from a Week 1 bye to upset the Edmonton Elks 30-13 on the road in Week 2 before taking a 28-22 road loss against the Calgary Stampeders last week. QB Vernon Adams went just 20-for-42 for 261 yards and 2 TDs against 1 INT in Calgary. Montreal makes its home debut after going 6-3 at Molson Memorial Stadium in 2019.

Tiger-Cats at Alouettes odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Alouettes 25, Tiger-Cats 22

Money line

The ALOUETTES (+105) are a strong play as home underdogs Friday night. They excelled in their home stadium in 2019 and looked dominant on the road in Week 2 of this season before taking a step back against the Stamps and unknown QB Jake Meier last week. The Als fell 1 yard and a fraction of a second shy of what would have been a stunning comeback.

This is also a bet against the Tabbies, who have regressed on both sides of the ball after playing in the 2019 Grey Cup. Evans passed for 3,754 yards and 21 TDs against 13 interceptions. He added another 161 yards and 3 scores on the ground while spelling an injured Masoli in 2019, but it’s the defense that’s more concerning.

Hamilton had the CFL’s No. 1 scoring defense in 2019 but gave up a total of 49 points in its first two games this season. Adams and the Als can pounce on that at home.

Against the spread

We can take the ALOUETTES +2.5 (-115) with a 2-point cushion in the event of a loss as insurance for our upset prediction.

Any CFL bettor knows the pain of losing on a late rouge and we just saw Montreal come up agonizingly shy of victory last week.

Over/Under

Bet the OVER 46.5 (-125).

We’ve seen Montreal’s ability to score quickly and Evans is sure to inject some life into the stagnant Hamilton attack.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Saskatchewan Roughriders odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Saskatchewan Roughriders matchup, with CFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-1) visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0) for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday at Mosaic Stadium. Below, we look at the Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders odds and lines and make our best CFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Tiger-Cats suffered a 19-6 road loss against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2021 CFL season opener Aug. 5. QB Jeremiah Masoli completed just 24 of 41 passes for 242 yards and 1 touchdown against 2 interceptions and contributed 26 of the team’s 55 total yards on the ground.

The Roughriders are playing their second straight home game to open the season after beating the BC Lions 33-29 last week. QB Cody Fajardo went 28-for-35 through the air for 230 yards and 2 TDs against 1 INT. RB William Powell led the team with 43 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Saskatchewan defense forced 2 interceptions from Lions QB Nathan Rourke.

Tiger-Cats at Roughriders odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Roughriders 25, Tiger-Cats 18

Money line

Back the ROUGHRIDERS (-140) as home favorites while seeking a second straight win. Saskatchewan posted a league-high 33 points in Week 1 while Hamilton struggled with a one-dimensional offense against Winnipeg in the season opener.

The home crowds make a difference in the West Division and the Tiger-Cats will enter another hostile environment on the road.

Against the spread

Roll with ROUGHRIDERS -2.5 (-120) as the more profitable bet on the home team should they win by at least 3 points.

Hamilton closed as a 1-point favorite in Winnipeg last week but took a 13-point loss. Saskatchewan failed to cover as a 6.5-point favorite in its opener but has a more conservative number to cover this week.

Over/Under

Take the UNDER 49.5 (-120) despite Saskatchewan’s high score last week. Hamilton has a much better defense than BC and we’ll need to see more from the Ti-Cats’ rushing attack before trusting them to handle their share of the combined point total.
