All 32 NFL teams as Halloween candy: 2023 edition

Some teams give you a delicious Halloween treat. Others are gross and stick to your mouth.

Here at For The Win, a very serious place of business, we often have hearty staff debates. About anything, really, but especially food. Simply mentioning that you enjoy a certain salad or cookie or how you take your coffee will turn many of us feral. We’ll react viscerally, baffled that someone, somehow, enjoys a different texture, flavor, mix, what have you.

So in the Halloween spirit, smack dab in the middle of the 2023 NFL season, we decided to compare all 32 NFL teams to a specific Halloween candy (or any candy otherwise). And you won’t be surprised to learn that we professionals immediately hounded someone (this fair but courageous writer) for daring to have a dissenting opinion about chocolate and fruity gold.

One might even say such a pack mentality is a little spooky. Dear reader, this is the cross I bear for my colleagues.

Below, you will find the very scientific candy consensus we came to for every NFL team this Halloween. Some team choices and blurbs are obvious. They are the evergreen peanut butter cups of professional football. They are a treat. Others, unfortunately, stick in our craw in the worst way, necessitating whole globs of water to wash away the disgusting taste out of our mouths. You only wish they were a trick.

Note: The list is in alphabetical order, not by ranking of what is and isn’t delicious.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s thoughts on being a popular Halloween costume this year with Taylor Swift

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce’s thoughts on being a popular Halloween costume this year with Taylor Swift

Halloween season is here, and fans are getting their favorite costumes ready for nights of parties and celebrations. NFL players are often easy options for costumes for diehard fans, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is expected to be a top pick this year.

The Chiefs’ leading pass catcher through six games this season has never avoided the tough questions, as he proved again on Friday. During his press conference, Kelce revealed to reporters his thoughts on he and Taylor Swift being the popular couples’ costume idea and how he would model his look.

“The mustache is slowly starting to disappear, but I tell you what, man, that ‘stache in the 87. Jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit. And it was that, and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time,” said Kelce, “so I guess just my ‘stache? And then yeah, maybe, a bracelet or something on?”

The power couple appears to be going strong as the season rolls on and the holiday season begins. The costume reveals on social media should be exciting this year with the creativity of Chiefs Kingdom.

The best Halloween games for horror fans and the scare-averse alike

Our best Halloween games list includes picks for scary games, psychological horror, and a few for the less fright-tolerant among us

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The best Halloween games look a bit different depending on what your scare tolerance is. There’s plenty of jumps, frights, zombies, and bloodshed if you’re into that sort of thing, with the likes of Resident Evil and System Shock. If you’d rather have a more cerebral experience, you might want to consider the video game equivalent of telling scary stories by the fire and, depending on the game, probably going to bed with the lights on. If scares aren’t really your thing, though, you’ve got plenty of choices for games that go heavy on atmosphere and leave the creepy stuff behind. Mostly.

We’ve included picks for all those tastes and more in our roundup of the best Halloween games.

Overwatch 2 Halloween event adds a touch of Diablo 4

Blizzard teased a bit about what to expect from the Overwatch 2 Halloween event, including some Diablo 4 crossovers and a Lilith appearance. The multiplayer game’s Halloween Terror event this year includes the new limited-time mode Trials of Sanctuary, a PvE co-op event where you and five others face down waves of enemies from the netherworld, led by Moira sporting a new look as the Mother of Sanctuary herself.

It begins on Oct. 10, 2023, at the start of season 7.

The playable characters in Trials of Sanctuary, also sporting some Diablo flair, are:

  • Barbarian Zarya
  • Cleric Lifeweaver
  • Demon Hunter Sombra, complete with her reworked kit
  • Inarius Pharah
  • Imperious Reinhardt
  • Night Raven Illari

2023’s Halloween Terror also includes the return of Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride, with new challenges and the chance to earn Overwatch Coins and new seasonal cosmetics to spend on new legendary skins in the in-game shop, including Gilded Hunter Sombra,. Halloween shop items are available from Oct. 10, 2023, through Nov. 7, 2023.

Headlining the new seasonal battle pass items is a mythic skin for Hanzo, themed after the frightful Onryo of Japanese mythology, and you can get Moira’s Lilith skin on the premium track as well. Soldier 76 is getting a clown skin, a suitably terrifying addition for spooky season, and Wrecking Ball and Ramattra are finally getting some love as well.

Finally, during the week of Oct. 17, 2023, new players can use Overwatch Coins to unlock Sojourn, Junker Queen, and the game’s other new heroes instead of having to complete challenges like usual.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ awards history at the Oscars

Has Jamie Lee Curtis ever won an Oscar?

Screen legend Jamie Lee Curtis has spent years entertaining movie fans in a variety of beloved roles.

From Halloween‘s Laurie Strode to A Fish Called Wanda‘s Wanda Gershwitz, the daughter of film icons Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh has built for herself a memorable career, with or without an Oscar.

On Sunday night, Curtis is up for the Best Supporting Actress award for her wacky turn as an IRS employee in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Would a victory give Curtis her first Academy Award? It would, as this year’s nomination is actually her first at the Oscars.

Outside of a nomination for Everything Everywhere All at Once, Curtis won a BAFTA in 1984 for Best Supporting Actress in the comedy Trading Places and earned a Best Actress nomination for A Fish Called Wanda.

The Golden Globes have nominated Curtis seven times over the years in various film and television categories, and she’s also been nominated by the Emmys, Grammys and Screen Actors Guild.

She won SAG’s Supporting Actress category last month for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

However, a win at this year’s Academy Awards would give her a trophy on her first nomination. It’d be a great moment for a deserving career in Hollywood.
