Larian reveals most popular Baldur’s Gate 3 romances, classes

Larian Studios released another round of statistics showing how people play Baldur’s Gate 3, including the most popular BG3 romances

Larian Studios released another round of statistics showing how people play Baldur’s Gate 3, including the most popular BG3 romances, the most-picked classes, and how many of you have turned into cheese wheels. The answer for that last one is 1.24 million. Akabi is not amused.

Shadowheart is the most popular romance option, Larian says. 51.3 percent of players of reached the final part of her romance arc, with Karlack sliding in second, followed by Lae’zel. Shadowheart’s popularity is, perhaps, unsurprising, considering she’s the first semi-sympathetic character players meet who doesn’t want to kill them. Lae’zel comes as a bit of a surprise, though. Player reactions to the Githyanki warrior were divided. Many disliked her brusque and downright violent attitude so much that they never bothered carrying on to see how her story unfolded.

BG3 class popularity remains mostly unchanged from Larian’s insights into multiclassing combos. Monk and Druid are still sitting near the bottom of the list, with Cleric in dead last. Paladin is the most popular choice, with nearly 4 million players playing as these warriors of justice, followed by Sorcerer (over 3 million), Fighter (3 million), and Rogue (roughly 2.8 million). Just over 2 million people picked Bard, which means a whole lot of you are missing out on one the best classes. Can’t get turned into cheese if you fart on the genie instead.

Those who opted for origin characters instead of custom ones mostly picked Gale. Nearly 450,000 players went with his story, while 426,000 chose Astarion, 324,000 opted for Shadowheart, and 326,000 threw their lot in with Karlach. Wyll and Lae’zel sit at the bottom, with 234,000 and 228,000, respectively.

Elves and humans are the most popular races, with Dragonborn in the middle and a sharp drop-off after that. Half-Orcs, Gith, and Halflings are near the bottom of the pack.

The most important stat though? Players have pet Scratch 48.5 million times.

Fortnite weapon mod benches give you a slight advantage in the multiplayer game by letting you, well, mod your weapon. They’re not easy to find, though, and gaining access to weapon mod benches is even more challenging. If you don’t mind not being the first one on the scene, though, you can wait and let someone else do all the heavy lifting for you – with the caveat that they’ll probably take the loot you need to fund your mods, too.

We’ve listed all the Fortnite weapon mod bench locations below, with pointers for where to find the vault and how to apply mods as well.

Day of the Devs 2023 has come and gone, with roughly a dozen new trailers and announcements for upcoming video games. There’s nearly something for everyone, whether you prefer emotional, narrative-driven games, fast cars, working at a hotline where you tell people their homes are haunted, or living in a house haunted by a witch who demands rent every month without fixing the roof in return. While most of these indie games are still in development or won’t launch until 2024, some of them have demos available now or will have in the near future.

We’ve rounded up all the Day of the Devs 2023 announcements below.

CoD Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is just around the corner, with new maps for the FPS game, more modes, fresh weapons, and even a new Zombies mode story in tow. Ranked matches will finally make an appearance in the middle of the multiplayer game’s first season, though DMZ mode is on its last legs. Activision is removing cross-progression for the mode and has plans to revamp it later on.

There’s also a zombified Santa Claus, because ’tis the season.

The big content drop has a lot to get through, but we’ve rounded up everything new in CoD MW3 Season 1 below.

Overwatch 2 Season 8 patch notes: The biggest hero nerfs and buffs

The Overwatch 2 Season 8 patch notes are here, with buffs for tanks and nerfs for pretty much everyone else in the multiplayer game

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The Overwatch 2 Season 8 patch notes are here, and while they’re not quite as extensive as past season notes, they do make some important changes to a handful of heroes. These alterations should make tanks easier to play, though DPS and support heroes had a bit of the wind taken from their sails. Soldier 76 can’t heal as effectively, for example, and Baptiste runs out of ammo more quickly. This season also sees some new features introduced, including weapon skins and a fresh PvPvE limited-time mode, along with the brand-new tank Mauga.

The GTA 6 trailer reactions are all over the place

The GTA 6 trailer reactions run the gamut of human expression – excitement, joy, sadness, and some even outrage over Rockstar’s new GTA game

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The GTA 6 trailer reactions run the gamut of human expression – excitement, joy, sadness, and of course, a little bit of outrage. Most fans were thrilled at seeing just 90 seconds of Rockstar’s new action game after waiting over a decade since GTA 5 launched. Some praised the graphics, which – assuming they’re from actual in-game footage – look like the first proper fulfillment of next-gen hardware’s promises.

The latest GTA game even impressed LeBron James.

Some of his followers thought James had one specific moment of the trailer in mind.

Enhanced jiggle physics aside, GTA 6 is an impressive-looking video game on all fronts.

I’m extremely impressed with the whole game,” Rockstar enthusiast Ben, who goes by VideoTechUK on Twitter, said. “Initial expectations were high, but not like this. The trailer represents a new era of gaming we haven’t seen in the industry. This is going to be a very big, big game and very likely come above on par with RDR2 in every way.”

The fact that every NPC has unique clothes and appearances also stood out to fans on the GTA Reddit, along with how many buildings and people show up in any given scene – particularly impressive after Starfield‘s recycled character models and lack of built-up areas.

This is GTA, though, so to some fans, it just meant more people to run over in your stolen cars.

Others were excited over actually seeing a woman in the lead role. Sure, you could play as a woman in the original GTA, but it was hardly a story-driven, character-focused game like GTA 6 promises to be.

But engagement bait aside, the most common negative reactions were from people finding out GTA 6 won’t launch on PC and realizing they had to wait until 2025 to play on console

Why not just release the GTA 6 trailer in 2024 if it’s not coming out till 2025?
byu/Kinglokner16 inGTA

The lack of a PC release is hardly surprising. Rockstar’s PC ports always come later, usually as the team has to work on anti-cheat measures for the accompanying online components.

There was even a surprising number of touching posts where people paid respect to series fans who waited years for this moment, but died before it happened.

GTA 6 launches for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2025, assuming there aren’t any more delays or changes in direction.

Nintendo on why Gleeok returned as a Tears of the Kingdom boss

Nintendo brought back the old Zelda boss Gleeok for Tears of the Kingdom, and you can thank the savage Lynels for that

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Nintendo brought back the old Gleeok boss from the original Zelda game for Tears of the Kingdom, and while it seems like a fitting nod to the series’ past, you can actually thank the savage Lynels for Gleeok’s return. Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and director Hidemaro Fujibayashi spoke with Nintendo Dream about designing Tears of the Kingdom’s monsters and explained why some of the other newcomers came to be as well (thanks, Eurogamer and Nintendo Everything).

Aonuma and Fujibayashi said that they wanted a monster that instilled even more fear and unease in players than Breath of the Wild’s Lynel enemies, and they thought the Gleeok fit the bill. They weren’t wrong, either. The Gleeok has a moveset that’s even more unpredictable than the Lynel’s, and its weaknesses aren’t readily apparent either. That’s just the Gleeok type you find on the surface. The Sky Islands are home to three additional, even more intimidating, versions of the monster.

Fuse creations inspired Horriblins, the unsettling cave-dwellers who shriek at Link and toss boulders. Aonuma said he wanted a way to put Fused weapons with extra length to good use. Then there’s the Boss Bokoblin, a big guy who has a bunch of lil’ guys following in tow. The idea here was creating an enemy to counter Link’s companions, since Link would have an unfair advantage when he recruits the Champions.

I can see the idea there, but I hate to tell Aonuma that taking out Boss Bokoblins solo is not an overwhelming challenge.

As for what’s next in the Zelda universe, Nintendo is working on a live-action Zelda movie, though the cast and plot are still a mystery.

Rockstar releases GTA 6 trailer early after crypto leaks on Twitter

Rockstar bumped up the GTA 6 trailer release date a little early, after a crypto organization leaked the full thing on Twitter

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Rockstar bumped up the GTA 6 trailer release date a little early, after a crypto organization leaked the full thing on Twitter. The full GTA 6 trailer in all its 90-second glory is officially live now, without a giant crypto watermark, and you can watch it below.

The trailer doesn’t give a whole lot away for the action game, though it does confirm a few tidbits of information that leaked in 2022, the biggest of which is that there are, seemingly, two protagonists. One is a young woman recently released from jail who returns home and seems to have some kind of gang on her tail. The voice lines mention the jobs she and her partner in crime – and perhaps in life – are pulling off are life-and-death situations.

Elsewhere, we see plenty of gorgeous footage of Miami – or Vice City, which is basically the same thing – which also leaked as GTA 6’s setting before. There’s the harbor, a dense, hectic, bustling downtown with all the seediness and bright lights you’d expect from a GTA game, and even a trip through the Everglades or a similarly swampy locale on a fanboat. Gunshots, gators, getaway cars, steamy scenes of intimacy, brash vulgarity, and a really angry old lady in a nightgown – it’s the entire human experience crammed together in one short moment.

The only thing it’s missing is Phil Collins. Rockstar used Tom Petty’s “Love Is A Long Road” for the trailer song this time.

As for when you can dig into that slice of crime life for yourself, well, you’ll have a while to wait. Rockstar said GTA 6 is set to launch in 2025. Considering Take-Two predicts record-breaking profits in its upcoming fiscal year, which begins in April 2024, a release early in 2025 seems likely – assuming there aren’t any more delays.

Fortnite Chapter 5 adds over 1,000 Lego Fortnite skins

Fortnite Chapter 5 is here, and with it is a treasure chest of Fortnite Lego skins, with more planned for characters in the multiplayer game

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Fortnite Chapter 5 is here, and with it is a treasure chest of Fortnite Lego skins, with even more planned for popular characters in the multiplayer game. The new update adds over 1,200 Lego variations to existing Fortnite skins, including Lego Peely, Fishstick, and more.

You can check a skin’s “details” page in the shop to see if it has a variant, and some emotes will have different Lego styles as well.

The official Lego x Fortnite page posted a short video highlighting some of those character skins and said they’re available in the item store now or, if you already own a character or emote with a Lego alternative, they should be in your locker. Maybe. I think Epic might have jumped the brick on this one, as the existing item shop has no Lego variants, and the Fortnite x Lego collaboration doesn’t properly begin until Dec. 7, 2023.

Either way, when it does go live, you can expect to see Jonesy in Lego form, that creepy-looking Cuddle Bear, the guy with a tomato on his head called Tomatohead – pretty much every skin that Epic doesn’t have to license from other properties, like it does for Peter Griffin and Solid Snake. It’s unclear whether we’ll see Lego variants for the likes of Spider-Man or any of the dozens of other crossover character skins, as Epic didn’t mention any specific plans for which characters are included in the collaboration.

The announcement blog post did mention that more Lego outfits will land in the game “often,” so check back if you don’t see your favorite at first.

BioWare teases full Dragon Age Dreadwolf reveal in new trailer

A full Dragon Age Dreadwolf reveal is just a few months away, BioWare teased in a new trailer for the upcoming game

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

A full Dragon Age Dreadwolf reveal is just a few months away, BioWare teased in a new trailer for the upcoming game. “Trailer” might be a little generous, as it’s essentially just 58 seconds of some artwork and a few voiceover lines, but like the studio’s recent Mass Effect 5 tease, there’s still a fair bit to dig into here.

The news comes over a year after BioWare announced it had a full, playable alpha build of Dreadwolf and gave us a (very) brief glimpse of Dreadwolf lore.

Antiva and the Crows make an appearance in the trailer, which is pretty much what we’d expect at this point. BioWare teased a big role for the Crows and their homeland since the first pieces of Dreadwolf concept art. This time, we hear someone who’s presumably a leader of the Crows saying they fight for everyone and will remain the rulers of Antiva. The trailer switches to a shot of Rivain, as another voice mentions the risen gods and a stylized dragon eye flickers on the map.

Then it’s time for Andefells and a Gray Warden saying he refuses to hide away in his castle before ending with a generic map shot clouded in heavy purple fog and an unknown voice that says “All the world will soon share the peace and comfort of my reign.” Not ominous at all.

BioWare promises a full reveal in summer 2024, so don’t expect anything at The Game Awards. Who on the Dragon Age team is actually left to work on the game is a bit murky. BioWare laid off several high-profile writers and developers who had previously been with the team since the early Mass Effect and Dragon Age days. The studio also laid off unionized contract workers who, as of N7 Day, have yet to receive their severance pay.
