Another Georgia RB is injured

Georgia running back Cash Jones is one of four Georgia running backs dealing with injuries ahead of the Tennessee game

The Georgia Bulldogs are already without running backs Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson entering the game against the Tennessee Volunteers. Georgia may also be without running back Cash Jones (questionable), who has been seen wearing a walking boot following the Ole Miss game.

“We’ll find out when the injury report comes out,” Georgia football coach Kirby Smart said. The weekly SEC injury report will be announced Wednesday night and updated ahead of the Tennessee game.

Now, Georgia will rely even more heavily on freshman running back Nate Frazier. Frazier totaled 12 carries, 47 rushing yards and one touchdown against Ole Miss, but he had a pair of fumbles.

Georgia’s top running back, Trevor Etienne (questionable), is fighting through a ribs injury and had just six carries in UGA’s loss to Ole Miss.

The Georgia offensive line needs to do a better job of creating holes for Georgia running backs. However, Georgia is dealing with several offensive line injuries as well. Offensive guards Tate Ratledge and Micah Morris (questionable) are not close to 100%.

“We’ve got guys injured left and right out there,” Smart said about Georgia’s offensive line. “So, we’re running a drill and there’s no guard in there because we’re out of guards.”

Georgia may have to resort to playing wide receiver Dillon Bell at running back some to try to get some production out of the rushing attack.

Georgia’s run game ranked third-to-last in the SEC

UGA has the third-worst rushing offense in the SEC. Why?

The Georgia Bulldogs have the third-worst rushing offense in the SEC through Week 6. Georgia is averaging just 131.6 rushing yards per game, which is down significantly from 2023, when Georgia averaged 191.2 rushing yards per game.

Part of the explanation of Georgia’s down year statistically is the defenses Georgia has faced. The Bulldogs have played four Power Four opponents in five weeks (Clemson, Kentucky, Alabama and Auburn), which is more than most (if not all) other teams in the SEC.

“We’ve played some really good teams, especially when you look at some of the defensive statistics out there with Kentucky and Clemson, what they’ve done,” said Georgia coach Kirby Smart. “So, the most important thing is to get better.”

Another issue with Georgia’s rushing attack is a lack of designed quarterback runs, which can give opposing defenses a lot of trouble. But Georgia had Carson Beck at quarterback a season ago and was far more productive in the rushing game.

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne has certainly looked explosive and capable of breaking tackles in the backfield. Etienne is probably not what is causing Georgia’s rushing attack to be among the worst in the SEC.

“He (Trevor Etienne) made some things happen with nothing there and then had a couple that I thought maybe should have gotten more on that he’s one step away from breaking one open and using his quickness,” said Smart. “He’s got really good open field skills to make people miss, and I think that’s something that we’ve needed around here.”

Ultimately, it starts up front with Georgia. The Bulldogs need to block better. Georgia is certainly missing star offensive guard Tate Ratledge, who is out with an ankle injury, but is expected to return later in the season.

Two more issues that are hurting Georgia’s rushing attack are game script and lack of possessions. Georgia had to play behind a bunch against both Alabama and Kentucky. Georgia’s defense could force more three-and-outs in order to give the offense more opportunities to succeed in the rushing game.

Another factor is that Georgia has the second-fewest rushing attempts of any team in the SEC with 144.

Georgia’s starting RB ruled out vs. Clemson

Starting Georgia Bulldogs running back will miss the Bulldogs’ season opener against the Clemson Tigers

The Georgia Bulldogs will reportedly be without starting running back Trevor Etienne against the Clemson Tigers. Georgia is also missing their leading returning rusher, Roderick Robinson, from last season. Robinson is out with a toe injury.

Etienne is suspended after being arrested for driving under the influence this offseason. He misses out on a chance to play against his brother’s former team (Travis Etienne). Trevor Etienne recorded 131 carries for 758 rushing yards and eight touchdowns last season with Florida. He transferred to Georgia this offseason.

Georgia running back Branson Robinson is projected to start for the Bulldogs. Robinson, who missed last season due to injury, will share carries with Cash Jones and Nate Frazier.

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart would not discuss potential suspensions with the media. However, it has long been suspected that Etienne would be suspended following his offseason arrest.

Georgia faces a challenge against a stout Clemson run defense that has a powerful defensive line. The Georgia-Clemson game is televised on ABC and kicks off at noon ET on Saturday.

Former Georgia Bulldog RB hired by Colorado State

Former Georgia running back and NFL legend is now working with Colorado State

Legendary Georgia Bulldog running back Terrell Davis has joined the Colorado State Rams as an advisor in the athletic department. He’ll be working in the state where he won a Super Bowl MVP with the Denver Broncos.

He’s already earned the nickname “Rambassador” for his legendary status in Denver. The job is a huge opportunity for him to connect to and train younger players. They can learn a lot from the running back.

“This just feels right,” Davis said. “This is a great opportunity to influence young people and put my time and energy into the future with a great organization, a great academic institution and an athletics program that is really starting to blossom. The big picture is elevation, and that is what I hope to do.”

With what he’s done already, as a member of the Colorado, Denver Broncos, and Pro Football Hall of Fame, he’ll hopefully be able to do a lot more. If Deion Sanders on the Colorado Buffaloes is any indication, he can at least bring notoriety to the program.

Georgia Bulldogs 2024 running back position preview

Georgia football has more depth in their running backs room than last season. All-SEC running back Trevor Etienne headlines UGA’s RB room

The Georgia Bulldogs return some excellent depth at running back for the 2024 college football season. “That room has been really good in camp. They’ve worked really hard,” said Georgia football coach Kirby Smart.

Georgia’s top running back is expected to be Florida transfer Trevor Etienne, who faces a possible suspension for the season opener. “I feel like Trevor’s (Etienne) the leader of the room and understands things and does a really good job of setting the tempo and setting the standard,” said Smart.

Etienne recorded 131 carries for 753 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns last season. He also added 21 receptions for 172 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Etienne is a first-team All-SEC selection.

Beyond Etienne is sophomore running back Roderick Robinson. Robinson is coming off a strong freshman season. “Rod’s (Robinson) been dealing with a little bit of a toe injury,” said Smart. Robinson is projected to be healthy for the season opener against Clemson.

Running back Branson Robinson is back after suffering a torn patella tendon last year in fall camp. Robinson, much like Roderick Robinson, runs with a bruising style.

After Robinson is walk-on Cash Jones. “You know, Cash (Jones) is a guy that people just don’t give enough credit to, and he’s a really good back. He’s great at picking things up,” noted Smart. Jones is one of Georgia’s better receiving backs.

The Bulldogs signed three true freshmen in Dwight Phillips, Chauncey Bowens and Nate Frazier. Frazier has turned the most heads in fall camp and is our running back No. 5.

Kirby Smart provides positive update on RB Branson Robinson

Kirby Smart drops good news regarding Georgia Bulldogs running back Branson Robinson

Georgia Bulldogs running back Branson Robinson will no have limitations entering fall camp. Robinson missed the 2023 college football season with a ruptured patella tendon injury that he suffered on Aug. 22, 2023. Robinson also missed spring practice this year as he worked his way back from the serious injury.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart updated Robinson’s status ahead of the Dawgs’ first day of fall camp. “It’s not a shock to me that he’s able to start and go without limitations, but load management is critical,” said Smart.

Robinson figures to be one of Georgia’s top options at running back this fall. Robinson, who is a former four-star recruit, has an excellent combination of size and strength.

The talented running back last played in 2022. Robinson has 68 carries for 330 yards and three touchdowns in his career.

If Robinson continues to show progress in his recovery, then he may be available for Georgia’s season opener against the Clemson Tigers on Aug. 31.

Georgia running back no longer on the roster

Georgia running back, former Tennessee Volunteer no longer on UGA football’s roster entering 2024 fall camp

Georgia Bulldogs running back Len’Neth Whitehead is reportedly no longer on Georgia football’s roster. Whitehead, a walk-on, played high school football for Athens Academy in Athens, Georgia.

Whitehead, a former four-star recruit, began his college career with the Tennessee Volunteers. Whitehead missed both the 2020 and 2022 college football seasons with injuries. In 2021, the Athens Academy standout had 32 carries for 207 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Volunteers.

Whitehead did not receive a carry for Georgia in 2023 or during Georgia’s 2024 G-Day game. It is unclear if the 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back was eligible last season at Georgia. Whitehead transferred within the SEC beyond the deadline for being eligible, so he may have had to sit out a season.

Georgia has plenty of depth at running back. The Bulldogs brought in Florida Gators transfer Trevor Etienne this offseason and signed three running backs in the class of 2024.

Injury update on UGA football running back Roderick Robinson

UGA football coach Kirby Smart updates the status of freshman running back Roderick Robinson.

Georgia Bulldogs true freshman Roderick Robinson is looking unlikely to play against Vanderbilt in Week 7. Robinson is making progress as he returns from an ankle injury, but he is still not practicing.

Georgia is battling a few injuries in the backfield. Georgia has a deep running backs room, but several Bulldog running backs have already missed significant action this season.

Senior running back Kendall Milton received carries for the first time since the South Carolina game against Kentucky. Milton totaled eight carries for 47 yards and scored one touchdown in Georgia’s 51-13 win over the Wildcats.

Georgia is already missing sophomore running back Branson Robinson for the season in 2023. Robinson suffered a knee injury in preseason practice.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart notes that Roderick Robinson is doubtful for the Vanderbilt game, but is nearing a return.

He is getting closer. Dry land running, weight bearing, running, but doubtful for this game. He is closer. He’s out there running around, but he’s not practicing with us.

Robinson has 15 carries for 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season. The freshman’s progress is a good sign that he will be healthy and good to go for the Florida game on Oct. 28 after Georgia’s bye week.

Kirby Smart provides an injury update on two UGA football running backs

The Georgia Bulldogs are battling a few injuries at running back. Georgia has a deep running backs room, but several Bulldog running backs have already missed significant action this season.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart updated senior running back Kendall Milton’s status ahead of the UAB game. Milton has been fighting a knee injury.

Kendall’s been in rehab. He’s been rehabbing and working.

I’m still holding out hope that Kendall will be able to, but I can’t say that because he has not practiced yet.

Georgia is already missing sophomore running back Branson Robinson for the season in 2023. Robinson suffered a knee injury in preseason practice.

Additionally, true freshman Roderick Robinson is looking unlikely to play against UAB.

Roderick hasn’t been able to practice with us. I’m hoping that we can get them back. It looks doubtful that Roderick is going to be able to play this week.

Robinson has 15 carries for 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season.

Georgia got a big boost against South Carolina with the return of running back Daijun Edwards. Edwards, who missed Georgia’s first two games with an MCL injury, ran for over 100 yards in Georgia’s 24-14 win over the Gamecocks.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart calls the Bulldogs’ injury list, “the longest injury list we’ve ever had.”

Looking at Georgia’s running back group after Branson Robinson’s injury

What is next for Georgia’s running back group after Branson Robinson’s season-ending injury

Georgia Bulldogs running back Branson Robinson is out for the year in a tough blow to Georgia’s running backs room. The Bulldogs will need to rely on some less experienced options and perhaps even a few walk-ons following Robinson’s devastating injury.

To make matters tougher on Georgia’s rushing attack, the Bulldogs are starting quarterback Carson Beck, who does not have as much mobility as Stetson Bennett did. Fortunately, Georgia returns an experienced and talented offensive line that should do a great job of paving the way for any running back.
