Social media thrilled after Brock Bowers’ first career touchdown

Former Georgia football star Brock Bowers makes more history, scores a long touchdown in his first career NFL TD!

Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is off to a strong start in his NFL career. The Las Vegas Raiders rookie scored a 57-yard touchdown in his first career NFL touchdown.

The Raiders are looking smart for drafting Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Bowers has 20 receptions and 216 receiving yards entering Week 5. He is already one of the most productive tight ends in the NFL and is set to see increased targets with Las Vegas wide receiver Davante Adams seeking a trade.

The Georgia rookie showed elite body control and his yard after the catch ability on his touchdown. It did not take the Raiders tight end long to reach full speed. Bowers’ touchdown put the Raiders up 7-0 against the Denver Broncos.

Bowers has the most receiving yardage (265 yards after his touchdown) of any Raiders tight end through five games.

Speed played at Georgia from 2017 to 2021 during his college career. He recorded 25 tackles during his time with Georgia. Speed started at times at UGA, but he was usually not an every down player.

At Michigan State, Speed saw much more action. He recorded 62 total tackles in the 2022 season with the Spartans.

The New England Patriots drafted Speed with the 214th pick (sixth round) of the 2023 NFL draft.

Every former Georgia football player on the Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have an six former Georgia Bulldogs (most in the NFL) on their roster for the 2024 NFL season

The Philadelphia Eagles have the most Georgia Bulldogs on their roster of any team in the NFL for a second consecutive season. The Eagles have invested a significant amount of NFL draft capital on former Georgia Bulldogs. Philadelphia spent recent first round picks on Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Nolan Smith.

The Eagles have five former Georgia Bulldogs on their active roster and one former Dawg on their practice squad. Many Georgia fans have a soft spot for Philadelphia due to the Eagles’ penchant for drafting Bulldogs.

Philadelphia is coming off a playoff appearance and should be a contender again in 2024. The Eagles rely on several Georgia Bulldogs on their defense.

Former Georgia Bulldog running back signs with Bengals’ practice squad

Former Georgia Bulldog running back signs with a top Super Bowl contender.

Former Georgia Bulldog Kendall Milton was a victim of final NFL roster cuts, but the two-time national champion has latched onto another team relatively quickly. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad.

He didn’t receive a phone call during the 2024 NFL draft, but he did get one from the Philadelphia Eagles afterward to sign a rather lucrative contract as an undrafted free agent for the squad. On a team full of several Bulldogs, it looked like Milton would be a critical part of the culture on this team.

Unfortunately, with Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Gainwell already solidified as the first two backs, it was an uphill battle for Milton. He lost the third running back spot to former Clemson running back Will Shipley.

Now with Cincinnati, a team that has more unproven running backs, Chase Brown and Zach Moss, Milton could see himself making his NFL debut if injuries strike Brown or Moss. His style of downhill running would be super effective in goal-line chances, and with a line featuring first-round pick Amarius Mims, also a former Bulldog, UGA fans are very excited for that prospect.

Former Georgia Bulldog Nick Chubb to begin season on PUP

Nick Chubb gets placed on PUP list, giving him more time to recover from an injury.

The Cleveland Browns have decided to put former Georgia Bulldog running back Nick Chubb on the physically unable to perform list (PUP), meaning he will be out for the first four weeks. This was widely expected to happen, and now Chubb will have extra time to recover from his knee injuries.

He is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL he suffered in Week 2 of the 2023 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It appeared he was doing well in the recovering process, but it seemed like a pipe dream that he would start Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

With this move, he’ll have more time to recover and get back to his peak form, which will be necessary with his pending free agency in 2025. Cleveland Browns fans and Bulldog fans will have to wait until at least Week 5 to see him start against the Washington Commanders, which could be a blessing for Chubb considering that Washington’s defense was ranked 26th in yards per attempt allowed last season.

Former Georgia OL suspended three NFL games

Former standout Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson is hoping to gain traction in the NFL

Former standout Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson is an NFL free agent. Wilson is now facing a three-game suspension.

Wilson last played on the New York Giants’ practice squad in 2021. He was released in January 2022.

Wilson began his career with the Tennessee Titans, but off-the-field issues caused the Titans to trade Wilson to the Miami Dolphins. Later, Miami released Wilson.

Wilson still has a lot of talent. He was the No. 29 selection of the 2020 NFL draft, but Wilson must be more consistent if he wants to succeed in the NFL.

Wilson played for Georgia from 2017-2019.

The Bulldogs could move up the list this spring as the Dawgs have 14 players invited to this year’s combine, opening the door to possibly break the school record of nine drafted Bulldogs, which was set last year.

Mock drafts by NFL analyst may vary, but most have Georgia’s Travon Walker, Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt as first round prospects.

Derion Kendrick, Jamaree Salyer, Justin Shaffer, Channing Tindall, James Cook and Zamir White are all in line to hear their name called early.

The combine will be held March 1-7 and the draft will kickoff April 28 and run through the 30th.

The Giants signed Isaiah Wilson to their practice squad on Sept. 29. The NFL is allowing larger practice squads this season. New York has issues along their offensive line and a large support system for Wilson, so it made sense to bring in the former first-round pick.
