Georgia football player card: LB Smael Mondon Jr.

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. enrolled early in Athens and participated in spring practice.

Smael Mondon Jr., Linebacker (No. 2):

Class: Freshman

Height: 6-3

Weight: 220 pounds

Hometown: Dallas, Georgia

High School: Paulding County High School

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. enrolled early in Athens and participated in spring practice. The Paulding County product recorded five tackles in the G-Day spring game. Mondon Jr. comes to the University of Georgia as a decorated five-star recruit.

Mondon Jr. has good size, length, and speed. He is a tackling machine and could earn significant playing time as a freshman. He was all over the field during his days at Paulding County, where Mondon Jr. played wide receiver and running back in addition to linebacker.

Mondon Jr. projects to be a depth piece on Dan Lanning’s defense and a special teams player. Lanning’s defense rotates a high number of defenders every season, so there will be opportunity for Mondon Jr.; Georgia has a loaded linebackers room again.

The five-star recruit will compete with returning inside linebackers Quay Walker, Nakobe Dean, Trezmen Marshall, Rian Davis and Channing Tindall for playing time at the inside linebacker position.

The lengthy linebacker has some excellent high school football highlights:

UGA football player card: LB Miles Miccichi

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Miles Miccichi walked on to the football team in 2018 and recorded a 4.0 GPA in 2019.

Miles Miccichi, Linebacker (No. 55):

Class: Redshirt sophomore

Height: 6-1

Weight: 227 pounds

Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia

High School: Lakeside High School

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Miles Miccichi walked on to the football team in 2018. He redshirted as a freshman that season and has primarily played for the scout team during the past two seasons.

Impressively, Miccichi was one of only 26 student-athletes at the University of Georgia to earn a 4.0 GPA in 2019.

Miccichi’s lack of playing time can be attributed to the depth Dan Lanning and Georgia have built on their elite defense. He’ll battle for playing time with Monty Rice, Nakobe Dean, Rian Davis, Trezmen Marshall, Quay Walker and more at the inside linebacker position.

UGA football player card: LB Channing Tindall

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Channing Tindall came to the University of Georgia as a four-star recruit from Columbia, SC.

Channing Tindall, Linebacker (No. 41):

Class: Junior

Height: 6-2

Weight: 218 pounds

Hometown: Columbia, South Carolina

High School: Spring Valley High School

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Channing Tindall came to the University of Georgia as a four-star recruit. Tindall played in eleven games last season as an inside linebacker and special teams player. Tindall recorded 1.5 sacks and 9 tackles during his sophomore season.

He saw more playing time as a freshman, where he played in all 14 games and ended up with 17 tackles and two sacks. Tindall’s decrease in playing time can be attributed to the depth Dan Lanning and Georgia have built on their elite defense.

Tindall was a cog in the top run-stopping defense in the country in 2019. He’ll battle for playing time with Monty Rice, Nakobe Dean, Rian Davis, Trezmen Marshall, Quay Walker and more at the inside linebacker position.
