Florida at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida at Tennessee odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Gators (2-1) will take on the Tennessee Volunteers (3-0) on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff is set to take place at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Florida vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Gators have had plenty of success against the Volunteers over the years, but can they continue that trend this week?  QB Anthony Richardson has yet to throw a passing touchdown this season and the passing game as a whole has been inconsistent.

On the other side of the field, the Volunteers have to love what they’ve seen from QB Hendon Hooker in the first 3 weeks of the season. The 5th-year senior has thrown for 844 yards and 6 TDs with no interceptions.

Florida enters Saturday’s SEC matchup as the No. 22 ranked team while Tennessee is the No. 12 ranked team in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Florida at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 34, Florida 21

Money line

Go ahead and PASS on the money line in this game with Tennessee’s odds giving no value in return. There’s a chance Florida can pull off the upset on the road, but I’m not comfortable taking them straight up either.

Against the spread

The Volunteers have looked like the better overall team thus far despite beating Akron and Ball State in 2 of their 3 wins. Give me TENNESSEE -10.5 (-112) as I believe Richardson’s struggles in the passing game continue on the road in a competitive SEC environment.

The Gators are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record, and are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 conference games. Meanwhile, the home team is 5-2 ATS in the previous 7 meetings and the Volunteers are 3-0 ATS to begin the season.

Over/Under

All of the trends seem to be pointing toward the Over in this game, but I’m siding with UNDER 62.5 (-112). The passing game of the Gators gives me concern on whether or not they can help hit the Over, and the Under has hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these 2 programs.

South Florida at Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s South Florida at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The South Florida Bulls (1-1) will travel across the state to face off against the Florida Gators (1-1) Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the South Florida vs. Florida odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

South Florida beat Howard 42-20 last week. QB Gerry Bohanon threw for 219 yards and 1 interception and RB Brian Battie scored 1 touchdown while RBs Michel Dukes and Jaren Mangham each tacked on a pair of rushing touchdowns. The Bulls had 205 yards on the ground and 424 yards in total.

The Gators are coming off a 26-16 home loss against Kentucky in their 1st SEC action of the year. QB Anthony Richardson had a tough day with only 143 yards through the air and 2 interceptions. The dual-threat QB was not much of a dual-threat either with only 4 yards on 6 carries.

The Gators entered halftime up 16-13 but were held scoreless in the second half while giving up 13 points. Florida was only successful on 25% of its 3rd-down conversions (4-of-16).

Florida is No. 21 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

South Florida at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 43, South Florida 14

Money line

PASS.

Florida is probably the right side but -1800 is too high of a risk for not enough return.

Against the spread

FLORIDA -24.5 (-108) is the play.

The Gators are looking for a revenge game after dropping a home divisional matchup last week. Richardson will be looking to get his name back into the Heisman discussion and the only way to do that is with a statement win.

The Gators have played poorly following a loss recently. Florida is 0-6 ATS after its last 6 ATS losses and 0-4 ATS after a straight-up loss. Both of those streaks should come to an end against a weak Bulls defense.

Over/Under

BET THE UNDER 58.5 (-110).

The Under is 4-0 in the Bulls’ last 4 road games and is 4-1 in the last 5 Gators’ games, dating back to last season. The Under hitting will largely depend on the Gators’ ability to stop the Bulls’ offense.

Kentucky at Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Kentucky at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 20th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) travel to Gainesville to face the No. 19  Florida Gators (1-0) in both teams’ first SEC action of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Kentucky vs. Florida odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

(Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports)

Kentucky easily handled Miami-Ohio last week in a 37-13 victory. QB Will Levis posted 303 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air, while WR Tayvion Robinson caught 6 passes for 136 yards. The ‘Cats found success on special teams too, with WR/KR Barion Brown returning one to the house. The Wildcats will need to be better on 3rd down this week though, going a measly 2-for-8 last week on 3rd-down conversions.

As for the Gators, they’re coming off an impressive 29-26 home win against then-No. 8 ranked Utah, securing the victory with a last-play interception in the end zone by LB Amari Burney. First-round draft hopeful and a dark horse for the Heisman, QB Anthony Richardson threw for 168 yards and rushed for 106 yards with 3 touchdowns. His versatility is the key to Gators’ success this week and throughout the season. RB Montrell Johnson tacked on 75 rushing yards with a TD.

Kentucky at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 31, Kentucky 28

Money line

Last week, Kentucky struggled to stop the run, yielding 11 yards on the ground to Miami-Ohio, a MAC school. Saturday, the Wildcats will need to bounce back and learn on the fly how to stop the dual-threat Robinson. Their defense should be improved with edge rusher Jordan Wright returning after sitting last week due to eligibility issues.

The Gators are coming off a momentous win as underdogs against Utah and will look to use that, paired with the energy of the home crowd, to beat the visiting Wildcats.

Last season, Kentucky went 2-3 straight up (SU) as an underdog, while Florida was 6-5 SU as a favorite.

Florida (-230) will likely prevail, but I can’t suggest backing a favorite at this price. PASS.

Against the spread

Lean KENTUCKY +5.5 (-110).

Kentucky was 8-4-1 ATS last season, whereas Florida was 2-8 ATS as a 4.5-point favorite or more a year ago. In typical SEC fashion, this will be a hard-fought game on both sides and should come down to the wire.

Kentucky should keep it close enough for us to cash a winning +5.5 (-110) ticket.

Over/Under

BET OVER 51.5 (-110).

Seven of 13 Kentucky games and 4 of 13 Florida games hit the Over last season. This will be a QB showdown between Robinson and Levis and should be a fun game to watch. Keep an eye on Robinson’s ability to use his arm if the Wildcat linebackers step up and stop the rush. Both QBs should show up under pressure for an offensive shootout.

Utah at Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Utah at Florida odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 8 Utah Utes will be traveling across the country to take on the Florida Gators in Gainesville, Fla., at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN at ‘The Swamp’ – also known as Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Utah at Florida odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Utes and Gators have met only 1 other time in history, with the Gators claiming victory 38-29 in 1977.

The defending Pac-12 champions and preseason pick to repeat in 2022, the Utes are playing an SEC team for the first time since 2009. One of the fortunate teams in college football this year, they are bringing back just about every key player from their successful championship season last year.

They will have experience that the Gators do not and hope to use that to their advantage under head coach Kyle Whittingham.

The Gators will be trying to fend off the Utes with first-year head coach Billy Napier and many other new faces on both sides of the football. Finishing 6-7 overall last year and 2-6 in conference play, the Gators are hoping for a complete turnaround this year.

QB Anthony Richardson has first-round draft pick aspirations not only due to his arm, but his ability to run the ball, and this game will be a great chance to prove himself. His versatility could be the key to success for this Gators team.

Utah is No. 8 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Utah at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah 35, Florida 24

Money line

LEAN UTAH (-130).

Utah should win this game. Five Utes receivers are returning this season, and QB Cam Rising is fully healthy after having shoulder surgery over the offseason. This is a recipe for disaster for the Gators.

Utah was 6-3 last season as the ML favorite and will start this season off with another victory.

Against the spread

BET UTAH -2.5 (-108).

A rebuilding Gators team will be no match for the Pac-12 favorite. The Gators beat the spread only 3 times in 13 games last season while the Utes had 5 wins in 14 games.

This is a motivated Utes team that will be looking to prove to the rest of college football that they deserve a top-10 ranking.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 51.5 (-103).

Last year, the Utes and their opponents averaged 53.4 points per game while the Gators and their opponents averaged 59.

This is shaping up to be an offensive shootout, but the Gators will be unable to keep up with a high-powered Utes offense.

NIT Tournament: Florida at Xavier odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Florida at Xavier NIT odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 3 seed Florida Gators (20-13) visit Cintas Center to take on the second-seeded Xavier Musketeers (19-13) Sunday in an NIT second-round matchup. Tip from Cincinnati is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Florida vs. Xavier odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Xavier defeated 20-win Cleveland State 72-68 Tuesday in the opening round. However, the Musketeers failed to cover as 11-point home favorites.

Call it odd timing, but Xavier fired head coach Travis Steele the day after the win and hired Sean Miller Saturday. Miller previously coached the Muskies 2004-09 before leaving for the top job at Arizona. Seven-foot F Jack Nunge leads Xavier in scoring with 13.1 points per game.

As for Florida, it is just 4-6 on the road this season. The Gators are coming off a 79-74 first-round Wednesday win over Iona, failing to cover as 6.5-point favorites.

The Gators are just 15-18 against the spread (ATS), including 3-9 ATS over their last 12. Florida is led by 6-foot-11 F Colin Castleton, who averages team-bests in points (16.4 per game) and rebounds (9.1 per game).

Florida at Xavier odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Xavier 76, Florida 71

Money line

PASS.

Given how much better Xavier has been at home (14-5) compared to on the road (4-6), Musketeers (-165) is a good play, but I’d rather suggest a bettor take the far superior spread odds in this Round of 16 battle.

Against the spread

BET XAVIER -3.5 (-105).

The Gators have been awful on the road this season, going 4-6 straight up and 4-6 ATS. They are also just 3-4 ATS this season as an underdog.

With Xavier’s Nunge able to match the size of Florida’s Castleton, it’ll be the two teams’ other players that will have to step up.

Florida’s three leading scorers after Castleton all have shot under 40% from the field this season. Xavier’s top-five scorers all shoot over 42% from the field.

Also, the Musketeers’ top-six scorers stand 6-foot-4 or taller. They have a tall, lengthy roster, and the fact that the Gators already shoot poorly and rank sub-300 in 3-point shooting will make scoring even tougher.

I expect Xavier to take this one and cover at home.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 144.5 (-115).

The Gators have been pushing the pace as of late. They are 5-1 O/U over their last 6 games despite having just a 15-17-1 O/U season-long record. They have scored 79 or more points in 4 of their last 5.

Meanwhile, Xavier is 7-3 O/U in its last 10 games and 9-9-1 O/U at home.

While both teams have had their ups and downs this season, each has been hot as of late, and I expect that to continue in this Sunday matchup.

Auburn at Florida odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Auburn Tigers at Florida Gators odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets in an SEC battle.

The No. 2 Auburn Tigers (24-2, 12-1 SEC) visit O’Connell Center Saturday to take on the Florida Gators (16-10, 6-7). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Auburn vs. Florida odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Auburn is 18-8 against the spread (ATS) this season but just 1-3 ATS over its last 4 outings. The Tigers have gotten back to their winning ways in their last 2 games, defeating Texas A&M 75-58 and Vanderbilt 94-80.

Led by F Jabari Smith, projected to be a top-3 pick in the next NBA Draft, Auburn is a heavy favorite Saturday despite being on the road.

Florida is 12-14 ATS this season, including 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games. The Gators are on a 2-game straight-up skid, falling 78-57 at now-No. 3 Kentucky Feb. 12 and 56-55 at Texas A&M Tuesday.

The Gators are led by 6-foot-11 F Colin Castleton, who is averaging 15.5 points per game.

Auburn at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Auburn 73, Florida 65

Money line

PASS.

Auburn is 7-1 straight up on the road and could’ve easily also lost at Georgia too – the Tigers won 74-72 in Athens Feb. 5. With Florida 11-3 at home, the expensive line (-180) for the higher-ranked Tigers is far too much to take.

Against the spread

BET AUBURN -3.5 (-112).

The Tigers beat Florida handily the first time around, cruising to a 12-point victory (85-73) and cover as 8-point favorites. They were able to do that despite getting just 13 points from Smith.

Also, while Florida has an impressive home record, it hasn’t played many elite teams, losing to both LSU and Alabama by 13 or more. Similarly, Auburn’s recent road losses make this playable as, without them, it could have been a double-figure spread.

Auburn is also a conference-best 9-3-1 ATS in SEC games. Florida is just 4-9 ATS in conference battles. Despite their recent struggles, I’d still side with the Tigers here.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 139.5 (-112).

Florida struggles to score, averaging just 70.0 points per game, but what it does best is defend. The Gators’ 9-4 Under record in SEC games is tops in the league.

Considering Auburn’s offensive prowess and the result of its last meeting, this total will get a nice boost. Also, Auburn shot 44% from 3 in the team teams’ last meeting.

If the Tigers regress to the mean and the Gators continue how they have played all season, expect fewer points.

Florida at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Florida at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Gators (12-6, 3-3 SEC) pay a visit to the No. 20 Tennessee Volunteers (13-5, 4-3) Wednesday evening. The contest at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn., is scheduled for a 6 p.m. ET tip. Below, we look at the Florida vs. Tennessee odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Florida is coming off an odd 61-42 win over Vanderbilt Saturday and then a 70-54 loss at Ole Miss Monday. Against Vandy, the Gators outshot the Commodores 38.3% to 28.9%. UF had won three straight games, though against three weaker SEC squads (Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, South Carolina) before falling Monday. Florida has not defeated what would be considered a top-40-caliber opponent since Nov. 24 (71-68 win over Ohio State).

Tennessee went 2-0 last week, bouncing back after a horrendous 107-79 loss to Kentucky Jan. 15. The Wildcats shot 67.9% from the floor in that game; UT held Vandy and LSU to a combined 37.9% last week. The Volunteers are 10-0 at home; in the last calendar year, they have lost just once at Thompson-Boling Arena (Feb. 20 vs. UK).

Florida at Tennessee odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 74, Florida 62

Money line

PASS: the lean is on the home five, but the price makes for too high a bar to yield any value.

Against the spread

The Gators are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games. The Volunteers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite. The home team is 14-3 ATS in the last 17 meetings. The favorite is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings.

And the home favorite is a small-to-moderate lean in this contest. The Vols’ performance on home hardwood has been impressive, and Wednesday they get a UF squad on short rest after another tough road tilt.

TAKE TENNESSEE -9.5 (-122).

Over/Under

Defense likely carries the day in this one, but the total reflects that – and to too great a degree. Peg both sides to get some theft-and-transition baskets to make up for a lack of triples. Florida does well to get to the line, and Tennessee may get its charity tosses in clutch-and-grab time late.

The lean is a small one but its one on the OVER 133.5 (-107).

LSU at Florida odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s LSU at Florida odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 12 LSU Tigers (14-1, 2-1 SEC) tussle with the Florida Gators (9-5, 0-2) in a Wednesday evening SEC contest in Gainesville, Fla. Tip-off at the O’Connell Center is slated for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the LSU vs. Florida odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

LSU rocketed up nine spots in the top-25 poll after defeating then-No. 13 Kentucky and then-No. 18 Tennessee last week. The Tigers held both foes under 40% from the field. For the season, Louisiana State has held opposing teams to 56.4 points per game this season (seventh NCAA-I).

The Gators have fallen off since starting the season 6-0. Florida is just 3-5 since. UF has shot a woeful 28.6% from 3-point range over that eight-game sideways spell. The Gators head into this game off back-to-back losses.

LSU at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 72, Florida 70

Money line

The Tigers are awfully tough on defense, and Florida is turnover-prone. LSU also figures to have an edge on the offensive glass.

Tigers senior G Xavier Pinson is out with a foot injury, and LSU will miss his passing and defense. But the road team has performed well in series games of recent vintage. LSU (+130) is a worthy call.

Against the spread

PASS. The best values in this contest can be found on the money line and total.

Over/Under

The Over is 6-0 in Florida’s last six games against winning teams.

The UF defense has been on a general downturn of late. LSU will miss Pinson’s 2.1 steals per game. Florida does well to frequently get to the free-throw stripe, and that has been an area of recent improvement for LSU.

TAKE THE OVER 138.5 (-115).

Alabama at Florida odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Alabama Crimson Tide at Florida Gators odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 20 Alabama Crimson Tide (10-3, 1-0 SEC) and Florida Gators (9-3, 0-0) tangle Wednesday night in Gainesville, Fla. The SEC bout at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Alabama vs. Florida odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Alabama last played Dec. 29, earning a hard-fought 73-68 over then-No. 15 Tennessee. The Tide was a plus-8 on the boards while holding the Volunteers to a 34.9% mark from the field. UA plays a fast-tempo game: it ranks last in the SEC in points allowed (72.9 per game) but second in scoring (82.2).

The Gators are coming off a postponed date and haven’t played since Dec. 22. They dropped back-to-back games in early December but are 3-1 since. Strong perimeter defense has helped Florida hold opposing fives to just 59.9 points per game (second SEC). Opponents are shooting 28.7% from beyond the arc.

Alabama at Florida odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 77, Alabama 72

Money line

A youthful Alabama five pulled out a tough win over Tennessee last Wednesday. The Tide trailed through much of the contest as they have in now three of their last four games. In the other game — against Jacksonville State on Dec. 18 — UA was in trouble. ‘Bama trailed at one point in the second half and didn’t come close to covering a 19-point spread.

Alabama is very dependent on perimeter shooting; Florida defends 3s to the hilt. The Gators also figure to have an edge in all the hidden exchanges — turnovers, rebounds, and free throws.

BACK THE GATORS (-135).

Against the spread

The Crimson Tide has lost five in a row against the number. The Gators are 7-2 ATS in their last nine at home.

PEG FLORIDA -1.5 (-120) AS A SLIGHT LEAN.

Over/Under

The combined one game since Dec. 22 makes for some rest/rust gray area here, and this number looks tough to beat. PASS.

Gasparilla Bowl: UCF vs. Florida odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s UCF Knights vs. Florida Gators odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UCF Knights (8-4) and Florida Gators (6-6) clash in Thursday night’s Gasparilla Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the UCF vs. Florida odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

UCF is 5-1 over its last six games. A Knights defense that struggled against the run in the first half of the season has improved in that area. Central Florida has allowed more than 140 yards rushing just once over its last six games. But Gus Malzahn‘s squad has also had an easy schedule over the back half of the season, so Thursday’s game against a high-powered UF offense figures to be a step up in class.

Florida running backs coach and special teams coordinator Greg Knox will coach the Gators, a program in transition and headed into the Billy Napier administration after Napier was named head coach earlier this month. Florida went 2-4 straight up and 0-6 against the spread over its last six regular-season games. The Gators do sport an offense that has averaged 470.2 total yards per contest; that ranks 11th in FBS.

Prediction

Florida 31, UCF 24

Money line

Take advantage of the narrative that Florida has quit on the season. The Gators had two tough midseason games — losses at LSU and versus No. 1 Georgia — that seemed to sour everything moving forward. But UF was undone by penalties, turnovers, and iffy third-down numbers in setbacks against Missouri and South Carolina.

Florida’s performance in its last game — Nov. 27 vs. Florida State — showed some backbone. The Gator roster is loaded with talented players auditioning for roles in the rollover to the Billy Napier-led 2022 season.

TAKE FLORIDA (-270).

Against the spread

Look for the UF ground game to crank out some big plays, and for a perhaps-better-than-advertised Gator pass defense to help nurse a 6-to-10-point win. A 6-point win comes up as an ATS loss here, but the FLORIDA -6.5 (-110) play is worth an investment.

Over/Under

In UCF’s last 10 games vs. SEC foes, the Under has gone 8-1-1.

Look for the run games to be in charge of this one. BACK THE UNDER 55.5 (-110).
