Bears rule out starting LG but will return pair of starting OTs vs. Packers

The Bears ruled out LG Teven Jenkins but will return starting LT Braxton Jones and starting RT Darnell Wright against the Bears on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears ruled out starting left guard Teven Jenkins but did not give a playing status designation for starting left tackle Braxton Jones and starting right tackle Darnell Wright — meaning they will play — ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Green Bay Packers, per Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.

Jenkins left last Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots with an ankle injury and did not practice this week. Jones and Wright both missed last week with knee injuries — and rookie quarterback Caleb Williams took nine sacks in the 19-3 defeat.

With Jenkins out and Jones and Wright returning, the Bears will likely start Jones at left tackle, Doug Kramer at left guard, Coleman Shelton at center, Matt Pryor at right guard and Wright at right tackle against the Packers.

Can Green Bay take advantage of a hole on the left side of the Bears offensive line?

Jenkins is the Bears’ highest-graded offensive lineman at Pro Football Focus through 10 weeks. After leaving the game against the Patriots, Kramer entered at left guard and allowed one sack and three total pressures over 30 pass-blocking snaps. He’ll get matchups against Devonte Wyatt, Kenny Clark and Karl Brooks on Sunday.

It’s possible the Bears will go with a different arrangement along the offensive line under new playcaller Thomas Brown, who is replacing fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron this week.

The Bears also ruled out backup tackle Kiran Amegadjie with a calf injury.

Edge rusher Montez Sweat (ankle) and former Packers defensive back Tarvarius Moore (concussion) are questionable to play. Sweat leads the team in pressures. Their playing status won’t be known until inactives are announces 90 minutes before kickoff, or around 10:30 a.m. CST on Sunday morning.

The Bears are also expecting to return edge rusher Darrell Taylor, who ranks fourth on the defense with 19 pressures. He missed last week with a knee injury.

The Packers will release their final injury report for Week 11 later Friday afternoon.

Commanders vs. Giants injury report: Latest updates, news for Friday

The latest injury news ahead of Sunday’s game between the Giants and Commanders.

The Washington Commanders (6-2) released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 9 rematch with the New York Giants (2-6). They will be without left tackle Cornelius Lucas.

Lucas injured his ankle in Sunday’s 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears, leaving Washington extremely thin at tackle. Co-starter Brandon Coleman missed the game with a concussion. In good news for the Commanders, Coleman cleared concussion protocol earlier this week and is good to go for Sunday.

The first time the Commanders played the Giants, kicker Graham Gano was injured, and New York didn’t have a backup plan, which cost them a three-point loss. Greg Joseph replaced the injured Gano, but he, too, is hurt and will miss Sunday’s game.

Rookie Jude McAtamney is expected to be elevated from the practice squad to be the Giants’ kicker for Sunday. It will be his first NFL game.

New York will also be without punter Jamie Gillan.

Commanders vs. Bears injury report: Latest updates, news for Friday

Only one ruled out for the Commanders in Week 8 vs. Bears.

The Washington Commanders (5-2) and Chicago Bears (4-2) released their final injury reports on Friday ahead of Sunday’s matchup between the two emerging NFC contenders.

For the Commanders, all eyes were on rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. He did practice on a limited basis Friday, but head coach Dan Quinn said they pushed Daniels to see how he would respond.

“We really wanted to push it today,” Quinn said. “And so that’s why I think it’s important because you have to push it in all the, not just the quarterback specific things, but also within the game plan. So, we really pushed it today. And so that’s what really the next day and a half will be about. See how he responds because you have to, you have to do that.”

Daniels himself said he wanted to play, but it’s not up to him.

In other injury news, rookie left tackle Brandon Coleman missed his third straight practice with a concussion and is out for Sunday.

Here’s Washington’s final injury report:

Out: LT Brandon Coleman (concussion)

Questionable: QB Jayden Daniels (rib), DE Dorance Armstrong (rib)

The Bears will be without two starters in their secondary.

Out: S Jaquan Brisker (concussion), DB Kyler Murray (hamstring)

Questionable: OL Larry Borom (ankle), RB Travis Homer (finger), DL Jacob Martin (toe)

Commanders final Week 7 injury report: Several Panthers ruled out

Dorance Armstrong is out for the Commanders in Week 7.

The Washington Commanders wrapped up practice on Friday in preparation for Sunday’s Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Dan Quinn announced the Commanders would be without two players, including starting defensive end Dorance Armstrong. Rookie safety Tyler Owens will also miss another game.

“Dorance will not make it up for this game and worked hard to get there, but just not quite to the spot that we need him to be to let him play in his own style,” Quinn said. “So, we’ll see what next week looks like, but he had a good week but not there yet then. And same with Tyler Owens.”

They were the only players listed as out for Washington. However, three were listed as questionable, including running back Brian Robinson Jr.

Meanwhile, Carolina will be without six players on Sunday. The Panthers also listed six players as questionable and three as doubtful.

Commanders final injury report:

Out: DE Dorance Armstrong (rib), S Tyler Owens (shin)

Questionable: RB Brian Robinson Jr. (knee), LB Jordan Magee (knee), DE Clelin Ferrell (knee)

Robinson missed last week’s game, while Ferrell played after missing three consecutive games.

Here’s a look at the Panthers final injury report:

Out: A’Shawn Robinson (knee) and linebackers Josey Jewell (hamstring/groin) and Claudin Cherelus (hamstring), OT Taylor Moton (elbow), special teamer Jon Rhattigan (knee/illness), RB Jonathon Brooks (knee)

Commanders final injury report: Quan Martin a surprise addition

Quan Martin among three questionable for Sunday.

The Washington Commanders released their final injury report for Sunday’s home opener against the New York Giants, which contained a surprise. Second-year safety Quan Martin was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury. Martin was a full participant during Wednesday and Thursday’s practices.

If Martin can’t go, Percy Butler, named one of the Week 2 captains, will start at safety.

On Friday, Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes underwent thumb surgery, and head coach Dan Quinn said he would not need to go on the reserve/injured list, which means Washington doesn’t expect him out for long.

Quinn also said rookie defensive tackle Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton continues to progress toward his debut, and the Commanders will likely decide his status by Saturday.

Here is Washington’s final injury report for Week 2 vs. the Giants:

Out: CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. (thumb)

Doubtful: None

Questionable: DE Clelin Ferrell (knee), S Quan Martin (hamstring), DT Jer’Zhan Newton (foot)

As for the Giants, rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers will play. He was limited during Thursday’s practice with a knee injury. However, three Giants are ruled out for Sunday:

Here is New York’s final injury report:

Out: CB Nick McCloud (knee), LB Darius Muasau (knee), WR Gunner Olszewski (groin)

Questionable: None

Commanders’ final injury report for Week 1

The final injury for Week 1. Mariota is out for Sunday.

The Washington Commanders wrapped up preparations for their Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, and they could be without two players.

Veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota didn’t practice for the second consecutive day with a pec injury. Mariota was limited on Wednesday and missed practice on Thursday and Friday.

So, I would say he strained a pec, his chest, and so I would say right now he’s unlikely,” head coach Dan Quinn said Friday.

Also, rookie defensive tackle Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton missed his second consecutive practice. Quinn offered the following on Newton’s potential availability.

“We’re not gonna rule him out, we’re gonna take him into Sunday,” he said. “And in doing that, we’re working through the D-Tackle. But it was good to get him some team reps today and feel into that. So, haven’t ruled him out, but we’re still gonna work him on Sunday as well.”

Mariota is ruled out for Sunday, and Newton is doubtful. Everyone else is set to play.

Here’s the final injury report for Week 1:

Did not participate: QB Marcus Mariota (chest)

Limited participants: DT Jer’Zhan Newton (foot)

Full participants: DT Daron Payne (back), OT Trent Scott (knee), OT Brandon Coleman (shoulder), DE Clelin Ferrell (knee), OLB Dante Fowler Jr. (knee)

Commanders vs. Cowboys: Week 18 final injury report

No Jonathan Allen or Kendall Fuller for the season finale.

The Washington Commanders will be without veteran captains Kendall Fuller and Jonathan Allen for Sunday’s regular-season finale, the team announced on Friday.

Fuller and Allen are dealing with knee injuries and missed last week’s game against the 49ers. Fuller is in the final season of a four-year contract he signed in 2020. Allen has two years remaining on his contract and hinted at wanting to move on in the offseason rather than going through a rebuild.

Cornerbacks Tariq Castro-Fields (shoulder) and Christian Holmes (concussion) will also miss Sunday’s game. Both players suffered injuries in Week 17 vs. San Francisco.

Safety Kam Curl (quad), right tackle Andrew Wylie (elbow) and defensive end Casey Toohill (shoulder) are all questionable for Sunday’s game. Wylie missed last week’s game.

Cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, who missed last week’s game with a concussion, is cleared to play Sunday. Defensive back Quan Martin (chest) and defensive tackle John Ridgeway (foot) will also play against the Cowboys.

Commanders to be without multiple starters Sunday vs. 49ers

The Commanders will be without multiple starters, including most of their secondary and two starting offensive linemen against the 49ers.

The Washington Commanders are looking to snap a six-game losing streak on Sunday when they host the San Francisco 49ers. As if beating the NFC’s top team isn’t difficult enough, the Commanders will be without multiple starters for Sunday’s game.

Washington’s secondary will be without three starters, while the offensive line will be without left tackle Charles Leno Jr. and center Tyler Larsen against San Francisco’s outstanding defensive line.

In some good news, running back Brian Robinson Jr. makes his return to the lineup after missing the last two games. Also, starting right tackle Andrew Wylie is questionable for Sunday with an elbow injury.

Washington’s secondary has struggled all season, but things could get ugly against the explosive San Francisco offense, particularly with Kendall Fuller sidelined.

Here’s Washington’s injury report for Sunday.

OUT

  • CB Kendall Fuller
  • CB Benjamin St-Juste
  • S Percy Butler
  • LT Charles Leno Jr.
  • C Tyler Larsen

Questionable

  • RT Andrew Wylie
  • QB Jacoby Brissett

Yes, you read that correctly. Brissett, named starting quarterback on Wednesday, tweaked his hamstring during Friday’s practice and was added to the injury report. If Brissett can’t go, Sam Howell will return to the starting lineup.

With Fuller, St-Juste and Butler out, we should see plenty of rookies Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin and young cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields — a San Francisco draft pick in 2022.

In San Francisco injury news, quarterback Brock Purdy, left tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Deebo Samuel are all off the injury and will play.

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead will miss Sunday’s game.

Here’s the full injury report.

Commanders vs. Jets: Week 16 final injury report

No Brian Robinson Jr., Charles Leno, or Tyler Larsen against the Jets in Week 16.

Final injury reports are in for Week 16, and the Washington Commanders will be without three starters against the New York Jets.

Robinson injured his hamstring in the Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins and didn’t play last week. He was working with trainers this week but was unable to practice.

Leno left last week’s game with a calf injury, while Larsen departed with a knee injury. This will be the first game Leno has missed this season. Cornelius Lucas will start at left tackle.

Larsen moved into the starting lineup in Week 8, replacing the ineffective Nick Gates. Gates will move back into the starting role.

Safety Percy Butler is questionable for Sunday’s game with an illness.

As for the Jets, the big news is quarterback Zach Wilson was ruled out with a concussion. That means veteran Trevor Siemian will start under center. Without Aaron Rodgers, it hasn’t mattered who New York has started at quarterback this season.

Interestingly enough, Rodgers was activated this week and added to the injury report and is the only other New York player listed as out.

Here’s the Jets’ injury report.

Commanders vs. Dolphins: Final injury report for Week 13

Two out for the Commanders and good news for the Dolphins on Friday’s injury report.

The Washington Commanders will be without rookie cornerback Emmanuel Forbes for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. Forbes, along with defensive end James Smith-Williams, will miss the Week 13 matchup.

Forbes injured his elbow in the Week 11 loss to the New York Giants and missed last week’s game. Head coach Ron Rivera said Forbes’ injury was “pretty significant” but believed he’d be able to play again this season.

Smith-Williams has been dealing with a hamstring injury since Week 9.

Here’s Washington’s final injury report for Sunday:

  • CB Emmanuel Forbes: OUT (elbow)
  • C Tyler Larsen: Questionable (knee)
  • DE James Smith-Williams: OUT (hamstring)
  • FB Alex Armah: Full participant (hamstring)

As for the Dolphins, no player was ruled out for Week 13.

Questionable:

  • S Jevon Holland (knees)
  • OT Kendall Lamm (back)
  • OL Lester Cotton (illness)
  • LT Terron Armstead (knee/quad)
  • RB Chris Brooks (knee)
  • OL Robert Jones (knee)

The Dolphins listed 18 players on the injury report, but everyone else had no game status listed for Week 13, which means they’re likely to play. WR Tyreek Hill and RB Raheem Mostert were both limited but will play on Sunday.
