Texans QB Deshaun Watson nominated for FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has been nominated for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for his part in the Week 5 win over the Jaguars.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named a finalist for the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium.

Watson completed 25 of 35 pass attempts for 359 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 109.1 passer rating, helping the Texans to their first win of the season in Week 5.

The two-time Pro Bowler is facing some stiff competition. Former Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 22 of 28 for 350 yards, three touchdowns, and posted a 154.5 passer rating in the Miami Dolphins’ 43-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Derek Carr, younger brother of another former Texans quarterback, David Carr, completed 22 of 31 for 347 yards and three touchdowns, compiling a 126.7 passer rating in the Las Vegas Raiders’ 40-32 upset at the Kansas City Chiefs.

This season, FedEx is partnering with Direct Relief in honor of the air and ground weekly winners. With help from FedEx, Direct Relief seeks to provide an emergency medical backpack, which can take care of 500 people, to a local community health center in the winning player’s city.

Voting is open for Texans fans to cast their ballots for Watson at NFL.com/FedEx or at the NFL Twitter page. Voting closes at Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. CT. The winner will be announced on Thursday afternoon.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson continues his winning ways, including earning yet another nomination for the FedEx Air Player of the Week.

Against the Dolphins in Miami, Wilson completed 24 of 34 passes attempted for 360 yards and two touchdowns. Now throwing 16 TD passes on the year, Wilson has tied Peyton Manning for the most touchdowns through four games to start the season.

Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Cowboys signal-caller Dak Prescott have also been nominated for this week’s honor.

Vote Seahawks QB Russell Wilson for FedEx Player of Week 1

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson landed himself in the record books against the Falcons; vote here for FedEx Player of the Week.

Quarterback Russell Wilson etched his name into the record books in the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 1 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

After Sunday, Wilson has logged 30,056 passing yards and 4,022 rushing yards over his nine-year NFL career. For his accomplishments, he joins Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young as the only two players in NFL history with at least 30,000 career passing yards and 4,000 career rushing yards.

Against the Falcons on Sunday, Wilson completed 31 of 35 passes attempted for 322 yards and four touchdowns. He also finished the day as the team’s leading rusher with 29 yards on three carries.

For his impressive 2019 season, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been nominated for the NFL’s FedEx Air Player of the Year.

For his efforts during the 2019 season, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been nominated for the NFL’s FedEx Air Player of the Year.

Wilson earned the Air Player of Week 9 honor earlier this season.

The Seahawks fell to the Packers in the divisional round, but not before posting an impressive win over the Eagles in their wild-card matchup. For Wilson, it came to an end too quickly.

“I think as you go throughout your career, you get to the point where you want to win championships,” Wilson said Monday during his exit interview. “You want to help everybody else win them. You want to do everything you can to be great.”

On the year, Wilson threw for 4110 yards, 31 touchdowns and a passer rating of 106.3.

Wilson is competing against Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes for the top honor.

Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky named FedEx Air Player of the Week

Following his impressive performance vs. the Lions on Thanksgiving, Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has been named FedEx Air Player of the Week.

Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has strung together some positive performances over the last four games. But none more impressive than on Thanksgiving in a 24-20 victory over the Lions.

Trubisky was named FedEx Air Player of the Week for his impressive performance against Detroit. He completed 29-of-38 passes for 338 yards, three touchdowns and an interception for a passer rating of 118.1.

Trubisky led two second-half touchdown drives as the Bears overcame a 10-point deficit for the win. One of those was a nine-play, 90-yard game-winning touchdown drive that included two third-down conversions from Trubisky to receiver Anthony Miller of 35 and 32 yards, respectively. The drive culminated in 3-yard touchdown pass to running back David Montgomery.

While Trubisky’s season has been disappointing, these last four games have been encouraging. We’ll see if the young quarterback can continue his streak of positive play in the final quarter of the season.

But most impressive was how Trubisky led his team back from a 10-point deficit, including leading them down the field on what was a nine-play, 90-yard game-winning drive. He came up clutch with two third down conversions of 35 and 32 yards to Anthony Miller that set-up a 3-yard touchdown pass to David Montgomery.

Also nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week include Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (27/39, 365 yards, 3 TDs) and Rams quarterback Jared Goff (32/43, 424 yards, 2 TDs).
