For the second straight week, the Browns have Joe Flacco up for FedEx Air Player of the Week

Through his first three games as the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Joe Flacco has thrown for a massive 939 yards through the air and seven touchdowns. While the interceptions need to go away, throwing five in just three games, the Cleveland aerial assault looks as dynamic as it ever has. As a result, Flacco is up for the honors of FedEx Air Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

His near-perfect fourth quarter, throwing for 212 yards and a touchdown en route to a comeback win, is why Flacco is up for this honor.

Losing the honor to Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers a week ago, Flacco now gets a second crack at it. This week, he is going up against Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions for the award. Given Mayfield’s nearly perfect game against the Green Bay Packers, it seems unlikely that Flacco will win the honor this week as well.

Those awards are arbitrary, however, as the Browns instead have a chance to clinch a playoff spot this week against the Houston Texans. One would have to think that is where Flacco’s head is at entering Week 16.

Jared Goff nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week

Goff is up against Joe Flacco and Baker Mayfield to win the award this week

Jared Goff had an outstanding game delivering through the air in Detroit’s Week 15 win over the Denver Broncos. For his great game on Saturday night, Goff has been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week.

Goff shook off a slow start to finish with 278 yards and five touchdowns in the air, completing 24 of his 34 pass attempts. He was just 2-for-5 before catching fire and lighting up the Denver defense. Goff is just the second quarterback this season to throw for five TDs in a game.

Also nominated this week are Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield and Cleveland’s Joe Flacco.

Sunday’s offensive eruption by the Detroit Lions has two players in line for some weekly honors. Lions QB Jared Goff and RB David Montgomery are nominees for the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Week, respectively.

It’s the second nomination for each of them in 2023 and the first time Lions players are up for the awards in the same week in at least four years.

Goff is up against Geno Smith of the Seahawks and Dak Prescott of the Cowboys. Montgomery and his 116 rushing yards face off against Houston’s Devin Singletary and Jaylen Warren of the Steelers.

Jared Goff adds to his awards with the FedEx Air Player of the Week

Goff also won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Detroit’s big win in Tampa Bay

The honors keep pouring in for Lions quarterback Jared Goff. For his outstanding performance in Detroit’s Week 6 road win in Tampa Bay, Goff earned the FedEx Air Player of the Week honor.

Goff earlier won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, which is decided by the league. The FedEx award comes via fan voting, and the fans made a great choice with Goff.

It’s the fourth time Goff has won the award since joining the Lions in 2021 and first this season. From the press release,

By winning the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week Award, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in Goff’s name to a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), which will be applied towards needs-based scholarships to deserving HBCU students.

Lions QB Jared Goff nominated for FedEx Air player of the week for Week 6 win over the Buccaneers

Jared Goff was delivering great throws all over Raymond James Stadium in Sunday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For his clutch play and prolific passing, Goff is one of three nominees for the FedEx Air Player of the Week for Week 6.

The Lions quarterback had an outstanding game in the win. Goff completed 30 of his 44 pass attempts for 353 yards, 2 touchdowns and a 107.5 QB rating. Goff is up against Derek Carr of the Saints and Tua Tagovailoa of the Dolphins.

If Goff wins, it will the first time this year a Lions player captured one of the FedEx weekly honors.

A very deserving Jared Goff has won the FedEx Air Player of the Week honor for Week 14.

Goff won the fan vote to capture the honor for the second time this season. He had been nominated three other times this season, including for Week 13. The Lions QB also won back in Week won back in Week 4.

Goff completed 26 of his 37 passes for 330 yards and three TDs in the Lions win over the Minnesota Vikings. He beat out Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins and Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars to get his second win of the year for Detroit.

Goff is nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award for the 2nd week in a row and the fourth time this season

No, it’s not deja vu. It’s just really great play from Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff once again.

For the second week in a row, Goff is one of three finalists for the FedEx Air Player of the Week. Goff earned the nomination for a fantastic outing in Detroit’s win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14.

Goff completed 27-of-39 passes for 320 yards and three TDs in the 34-23 Lions win. He was also nominated for the Week 13 win over the Jaguars, as well as back in Weeks 2 and 4. He has yet to win, however.

Jared Goff nominated for FedEx Air Player of the Week in win over Jaguars in Week 13

Jared Goff had one of the best games of his NFL career on Sunday. The Lions quarterback lit up the sky, not to mention the Jaguars defense, in Detroit’s 40-14 win over Jacksonville in Week 13.

Goff’s great game earned him a nomination for the FedEx Air Player of the Week. He’s one of three nominees, along with Jalen Hurts of the Eagles and Seattle’s Geno Smith.

Goff completed 31 of his 41 attempts for 340 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Jacksonville.

Jared Goff wins FedEx Air Player of the Week

Goff threw for the most yards and the most TDs in Week 4 and earned the honor in fan voting

Congratulations are in order for Lions quaarterback Jared Goff. His prolific passing in Detroit’s Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks earned Goff the FedEx Air Player of the Week honor.

Goff won out over Seattle’s Geno Smith and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers. He threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns in the Lions’ Week 4 matchup against Smith’s Seahawks.

It’s Goff’s second FedEx Air Player of the Week honor in a Lions uniform. He also won in Week 15 last season. Goff was also nominated this year in Week 2 but lost out to Tua Tagovailoa.

FedEx will donate $2,000 in Goff’s name to an HBCU scholarship fund.

2 Seahawks nominated for FedEx Air and Ground Players of Week 4

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith and RB Rashaad Penny have been nominated for the FedEx Air and Ground Players of Week 4. Vote here!

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Detroit Lions in Week 4 in what turned out to be a high-scoring matchup, resulting in a final 48-45 Scorigami. For their efforts, both quarterback Geno Smith and running back Rashaad Penny have been nominated for the FedEx Air and Ground Players of the Week.

Smith finished the day completing 23 of 30 passes attempted for 320 yards and two touchdowns. He also managed seven carries for 49 yards and a score on the ground.

As for Penny, he logged 17 touches for 151 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also hauled in one reception for six yards.
