4-star Evan Stewart releases updated top schools list

The Georgia Bulldogs are in the top eight for four-star recruit Evan Stewart

The Georgia Bulldogs are in the top eight for four-star recruit Evan Stewart, who previously committed to the Texas Longhorns.

Stewart hails from Frisco, Texas and ranks as the country’s No. 37 overall player, No. 5 wide receiver and No. 11 player in the state of Texas in the 2022 class. Stewart is a bump in recruiting rankings from being considered a five-star prospect.

Stewart plays football for Liberty High School, where he is a rising senior. Throughout 2019, he hauled in 43 passes for 757 yards and seven touchdowns.

Stewart currently holds numerous scholarship offers. He narrowed his list of schools to a top eight via his Twitter account:

Evan Stewart puts Florida, Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Texas, USC, and Texas A&M among his top schools. Where will he play college football?

Stewart is favored to commit to Texas again. He announced his decommitment, but emphasized that he has not been able to meet any coaches in person or visit the campuses of any schools.

With the NCAA dead period being lifted soon, Stewart will have a chance to see schools in person and meet more coaches. It is hard to blame the four-star wide receiver for wanting to see where he’ll spend the next four years of his life before making a college decision.

Stewart’s decommitment is a big loss for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns. Texas still has the No. 8 rated recruiting class of 2022, which is second best in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma. Sarkisian, the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator, has recruited well to begin his tenure at Texas.

He plays football for Liberty High School, where he is a rising senior. Throughout 2019, he hauled in 43 passes for 757 yards and seven touchdowns.

Stewart holds more than 25 college football scholarship offers. The four-star wide receiver is considering attending Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, TCU, Florida, Baylor, USC, Penn State or Texas A&M.

Stewart announced his decommitment from the Longhorns via his Twitter account:

Evan Stewart desires to visit college campuses and meet with coaches in person. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to do so thanks to the NCAA’s dead period in recruiting.

Kirby Smart and Georgia will need to land several wide receiver commitments in the class of 2022. The Dawgs have a few targets in mind including Kojo Antwi and Samuel Mbake. Georgia may have to replace George Pickens, Kearis Jackson, Demetris Robertson, and more next offseason.
