Giants’ Matt Peart out for season after tearing ACL in Week 16

New York Giants OT Matt Peart is out for the season after tearing his ACL in a Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Matt Peart’s season for the New York Giants is officially over.

During the 34-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Peart left the game with an apparent knee injury. As it turns out, he suffered a torn ACL.

Peart was starting at right tackle for the Giants with Nate Solder on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Korey Cunningham took over for Peart when he went down with the injury.

Peart started in five of the 15 games he appeared in for the Giants in 2021.

In other roster moves, the Giants have placed safety Julian Love on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Center Evan Boehm has been released from the practice squad and cornerback Ka’Dar Hollman has been placed on the Practice Squad/COVID-19 list.

The New York Giants have announced their practice squad protections ahead of a Week 16 game with the Philadelphia Eagles and center Evan Boehm was among the four.

Signed by the Giants last week, the 28-year-old Boehm was originally a fourth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFL draft. He became a journeyman after that, spending time with the Los Angeles Rams (2018), Indianapolis Colts (2018), Miami Dolphins (2019, 2021), Buffalo Bills (2020), Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) and Detroit Lions (2021).

Boehm has appeared in 55 career games with 21 starts. He’s taken snaps at both left and right guard in addition to center.

This is Boehm’s first time being protected by the team.

In addition to Boehm, the Giants also protected wide receiver/return man Pharoh Cooper, wide receiver Alex Bachman and defensive lineman David Moa.

Moa has been a regular protection all year and even saw action in Week 15 as a COVID-19 replacement. Cooper, meanwhile, is the team’s starting return man and is a guaranteed elevation come Sunday.

Lastly, the Giants announced that they have terminated the practice squad contract of tight end Jake Hausmann.

Giants sign Evan Boehm to practice squad, elevate Pharoh Cooper

The New York Giants made a series of roster moves on Thursday, including the addition of center Evan Boehm to their practice squad.

The New York Giants made several transactions on Thursday facilitated by an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. Among their moves was the addition to center Evan Boehm to the practice squad.

The 28-year-old Boehm was originally a fourth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFL draft.

The Giants also did some Reserve/COVID-19 list shuffling. Cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who is out on Sunday, was added to the list. Offensive lineman Wes Martin was removed.

Finally, the Giants also elevated wide receiver/return man Pharoh Cooper as a COVID-19 replacement. He was a likely elevation anyway, so this permits the Giants to make additional roster moves ahead of a Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Dolphins have signed C Evan Boehm to their practice squad

The Dolphins need center depth with their second center getting hurt.

The Miami Dolphins are down to their third center after losing Michael Deiter at the end of September and with Greg Mancz dealing with an ankle injury.

In their place, Austin Reiter, who the team signed off of the Saints’ practice squad in October. Reiter has played in three games this season, starting two of them.

To fill in some of the depth at the position, the Dolphins have signed veteran center Evan Boehm to their practice squad. That name may sound familiar to fans, as he was with the Dolphins back in 2019.

The veteran lineman came into the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft with the Cardinals and has started 21 games in his career. Since leaving Miami, Boehm has been with three organizations including the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit Lions.

Mancz has not participated in practice to this point in the week leading up to the Dolphins matchup with the Ravens on Thursday. If he can’t go, Boehm could get called up to the active roster for the day.

2021 Lions roster cuts: Shaun Dion Hamilton to I.R. among injury-related moves

Shaun Dion Hamilton had a good chance to make the team

The Lions finished their series of moves to get to the 85-man roster deadline on Tuesday.

The most notable of the moves is linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton, who was placed on the injured reserve list. Hamilton consistently performed well all summer and was considered likely to make the 53-man roster by most analysts. Because he’s been placed on injured reserve prior to the final roster cuts, Hamilton is now out for the year.

Wide receiver Chad Hansen was waived with an injury settlement, while defensive lineman Michael Barnett was waived. Barnett was just added to the team last week.

These cuts follow some injury-related moves from Detroit on Monday that lowered the roster to 87.

On Monday, the Lions placed offensive lineman Evan Boehm on injured reserve and waived tight end Charlie Taumoepeau with a non-football injury designation. Taumoepeau was injured in a car accident where cornerback Alex Brown faces charges as the driver. Brown was released on Sunday after the incident.

Lions make a series of injury-related roster moves

The Lions still have a couple more moves to make to get to the 85-man limit by Tuesday

With roster cuts due on Tuesday, the Detroit Lions made a series of moves that help get the team closer to the 85-person limit. Two Lions players were removed from the active roster on Monday and another previously waived accepted an injury settlement.

All three of the moves are related to injuries. The most notable is reserve offensive lineman Evan Boehm, who has been placed on injured reserve. Boehm injured his knee late in Friday’s preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills. He had been the Lions No. 2 center for much of the last week of training camp.

Tight end Charlie Taumoepeau was waived with a non-football injury designation. Taumoepeau did play in the loss to the Bills and has been a full participant in practices. The exact nature of his injury is unknown at this time.

Running back Michael Warren had already been waived last week with an injury designation. After he went unclaimed on waivers, Warren reverted to the Lions injured reserve. He has now taken an injury settlement and is off the team, free to sign with another NFL squad.

The moves leave the Lions roster at 87, meaning two more players will be gone by tomorrow.

Lions sign OL Evan Boehm, activate OL Evan Heim for Monday’s practice

The Lions added a pair of Evan’s to the offensive line mix on Monday

The Detroit Lions have gained two offensive linemen for the second week of training camp. Head coach Dan Campbell began his Monday press conference prior to practice by announcing that the team has signed free agent lineman Evan Boehm, who visited with the team late last week. The Lions also activated Evan Heim from the non-football injury list.

Boehm is a veteran who can play guard or center. He’s started 21 games over five NFL seasons, most recently with the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

Heim signed with the Lions as a rookie free agent earlier this offseason. He played both left and right tackle in college at Minnesota State-Mankato, though he projects as a guard in the NFL.

Lions host free agent center Evan Boehm for a visit

Boehm has 21 career starts over 4 NFL seasons

There was an extra player at the Detroit Lions team facilities on Thursday. The Lions hosted free agent center Evan Boehm on a visit, per the NFL’s transaction wire.

Boehm is not to be confused with Evan Brown, though Boehm’s visit in Detroit could be directly related to Brown. The Lions placed Brown, the projected backup center behind Pro Bowler Frank Ragnow, on the non-football injury list upon his reporting to camp earlier this week. The Lions need someone to take those reps in practice, and Boehm could be the beneficiary.

Boehm is an experienced NFL starter. The 27-year-old from Missouri has started 21 games over four NFL seasons, most recently with the Miami Dolphins in the 2019 season. He can also play either guard spot. Boehm was with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills in 2020 but did not see any action.

The Lions have not made a roster move as of press time.

Giants worked out center Evan Boehm

The New York Giants worked out offensive lineman Evan Boehm, a 2016 fourth-round pick, on Tuesday.

Late last week, the New York Giants attempted to claim center Lamont Gaillard off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals, but ultimately lost out to the Cincinnati Bengals.

That came on the heels of placing center Jonotthan Harrison (hamstring) on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, leaving the Giants very thin at the position. Their depth currently consists of Nick Gates and undrafted rookie Brett Heggie.

For that reason, the Giants were back poking around centers on Tuesday, hosting the 6-foot-3, 320-pound Evan Boehm for a workout.

Boehm, 27, was a fourth-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2016 NFL draft. He spent his first two seasons in Arizona before grabbing a cup of coffee with the Los Angeles Rams and then signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.

In 2019, Boehm spent time with the Miami Dolphins before bouncing around between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020.

Boehm has appeared in 55 career games with 21 starts, playing both center and guard. He earned an overall grade of 47.4 courtesy of Pro Football Focus in 2019 and a grade of 72.7 in 2018.

Jags sign FB Bruce Miller, OL Evan Boehm to practice squad

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed two veterans to their practice squad Monday. One was the team’s former starting fullback Bruce Miller, who NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, placed on their Practice Squad/Suspended list for performance-enhancing drugs. He’ll have to spend six games there before he can be activated, but he won’t actually count towards a practice squad spot.

This transaction comes after the Jags released Miller just a few days ago on Oct. 30. He initially joined the team on Aug. 15 as they were seemingly looking for a veteran presence at fullback and exited his first stint in Jacksonville with one catch for two yards.

The Jags also signed offensive lineman Evan Boehm to their practice squad, who last spent time on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. Boehm was a fourth round selection for the Arizona Cardinals in 2016, but spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins afterward.

Boehm will enter his tenure in Jacksonville with 21 starts to his name. A majority of those starts came with the Cardinals and Dolphins, both of whom he was able to garner eight starts with.
