Four-star offensive tackle Ethan Calloway has recently visited UGA and is considering the Dawgs

Four-star offensive tackle Ethan Calloway plans to decide where he will play college football on June 30. The elite class of 2024 offensive tackle recruit plays high school football for Lake Norman High School in Mooresville, North Carolina.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle recently placed Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Penn State, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Florida State in his top schools.

The four-star Lake Norman standout is the No. 20 offensive tackle and the No. 210 recruit overall in the 2024 class, per 247Sports. Calloway is the fifth-ranked player in North Carolina. He primarily plays left tackle for his high school.

Calloway has more than a dozen scholarship offers. The four-star has recently taken official visits to Florida and Georgia.

Ethan Calloway gets after it in the weight room. He recently squatted 500 pounds.

Kirby Smart and Georgia have 19 commitments in the 2024 recruiting cycle. However, Georgia remains a little thin along the offensive line. The Dawgs hold commitments from only two class of 2024 offensive linemen.

Blue-chip OL sets official visit date with Florida in June

The first weekend of June is looking to be packed with blue-chip recruits making their official visits.

The spring season is now well in the rearview mirror for Florida football, which now enters its summer phase that will see a plethora of prep prospects dropping in on campus for their official visits. Among the many that have already set their schedule for a trip to Gainesville is one coveted out-of-state lineman who announced his date last Thursday.

Four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Ethan Calloway[/autotag] out of Mooresville (North Carolina) Lake Norman told Swamp247’s Blake Alderman on Thursday that he plans on stopping in Hogtown during the first weekend of June — specifically, June 2-4. The 6-foot-7-inch, 300-pound high school junior will be joining a handful of other recruits making their visit to the Swamp as well.

The big-time lineman received his offer from Florida after he attended the South Carolina Gamecocks matchup last fall, during which he also got a good gander at what Billy Napier and his staff are putting together.

“I guess a big thing is the two coaching system,” he told Alderman. “I am big on wherever I go, can they develop me. That two coaching system could be amazing. It also helps they are a top five public institution in the country. That is probably the best education I can get right now. You gotta remember football ends at some point, and they have proven, especially if I go into business that they can get me to where I want to be.”

Along with his official visit with the Orange and Blue, Calloway also has an OV planned with the Penn State Nittany Lions the weekend of June 16.

The Tar Heel State product announced his top-eight schools back in late April, with the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee Volunteers, North Carolina Tar Heels, LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers and Penn State joining the Gators on that list.

Calloway is ranked No. 212 overall and No. 19 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 208 and 15, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the North Carolina State Wolfpack leading in his recruitment with a 21.1% chance of signing him, followed by Florida (19.3%), the Virginia Tech Hokies (13.3%) and LSU (8.4%), respectively.

Penn State in top 8 of 2024 four-star offensive lineman

Penn State makes the top eight cut for a four-star offensive lineman target in 2024.

The 2024 recruiting class for Penn State has been a rocket ship lately. They have catapulted into the top 10 for both the 247Sports and On3 national recruiting ranking databases. It’s been a step up from the impressive class that James Franklin secured in 2023 when they ended as the number 13 overall recruiting class.

Currently, there are 10 players committed in the 2024 class.

That hasn’t stopped coach Franklin and his coaching staff from going after as many good players as possible. On Friday, four-star offensive lineman [autotag]Ethan Calloway[/autotag] cut his list of schools down to his top eight.

Calloway is a 6’7″ 307 pound prospect from North Carolina. He’s the 208th ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings and their number 15 ranked offensive lineman. He has 20 scholarship offers from programs around the country.

Penn State is one of the top schools on his list along with Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, LSU, Florida, North Carolina and Auburn.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has North Carolina State as the favorites to land the four-star offensive lineman. Since they weren’t included in his top eight, the machine will have to be updated.

Out of the final eight schools on his list, he has visited LSU the most with three unofficial visits. They originally sat at a 11.2% chance to land Calloway according to the Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Penn State was at 6.3% before his updated list of schools were announced on his Twitter page.

Offensive line has been a major priority for coach Franklin in recent years. There are currently two offensive lineman already committed to Penn State in the 2024 class who are both four-star prospects according to 247Sports.

There is currently no commitment date set for Calloway as of now.

Four-star OT Ethan Calloway puts Auburn in top 8

The Tigers are in the mix for one of the top offensive tackles in the 2024 recruiting class.

The Auburn Tigers have started to put together an impressive recruiting class in the 2024 recruiting cycle but they are still looking for their first commit along the offensive line.

They got some good news on that front Friday when four-star offensive tackle [autotag] Ethan Calloway[/autotag] put them in his top eight. The Mooresville, North Carolina native also included Georgia, Florida State, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, LSU, and Penn State.

He is the No. 215 overall player and No. 19 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 player from North Carolina.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder visited Auburn on March 3 after offensive line coach [autotag]Jake Thornton[/autotag] offered him on January 3.

That is his only trip to the Plains so far but with the Tigers in his top eight, they are firmly in the mix to receive an official visit from Calloway.

This 4-star offensive tackle sets his return visit date with Florida

Chalk up another big-time visitor next month!

The month of March is looking to be a big one for Florida football’s recruiting efforts as the program gets set to host a handful of prep prospects in Gainesville.

Among those who have announced their plans to head to Hogtown next month is four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Ethan Calloway[/autotag] out of Mooresville (North Carolina) Lake Norman in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-7-inch, 300-pound behemoth has made a stop in the Swamp before to watch the Gators trounce the South Carolina Gamecocks and is planning to make a multi-day visit with [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. on March 9 and 10, he told Swamp247 recently.

The high school junior’s recruitment has been spearheaded by offensive coordinator/offensive line coach [autotag]Rob Sale[/autotag] and assistant offensive line coach [autotag]Darnell Stapleton[/autotag], who have put in time with Calloway since his mid-season visit. Speaking of which, the Orange and Blue made a great impression on him the first time around.

“The atmosphere was great before and after,” he told Gators Online previously. “The offensive line coaches spent a lot of time with me. I know they had a lot of recruits there, so that meant a lot. Great conversations with Coach Sale and Stapleton. I learned a lot about how they do things and what they are looking for.

“I go on these visits with no expectations. The fact that they had done so much homework on me and sought me out to talk and make an offer was unexpected. I knew the Gators were interested, but that changed the night for me. They are trending in the right direction as a team too.”

The coveted offensive lineman also has offers from the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers and Wisconsin Badgers, among many others.

Calloway is ranked No. 191 overall and No. 9 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while On3 has him at Nos. 126 and 8, respectively, according to its independent rankings. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the North Carolina State Wolfpack out front for his services with a 30.5% chance of landing him, while the Virginia Tech Hokies, Appalachian State Mountaineers and Penn State follow behind at 20.2%, 11.7% and 9.8%, respectively.

Up-and-coming OL reflects on ‘first-class’ experience at Clemson

An up-and-coming offensive tackle proposed from the Tar Heel State, who has recently started to see his recruitment pick up this spring and summer, participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp in June.

Mooresville (N.C.) Lake Norman High’s Ethan Calloway — a 6-foot-7, 300-pound rising junior in the class of 2024 – camped at Clemson on June 11.

“It was first-class,” Calloway recently told The Clemson Insider regarding his Clemson camp experience. “I got to meet (offensive line) Coach (Thomas) Austin. It was amazing. He’s an amazing coach. Everything about it was really good. Learned a lot there and I was able to use everything I learned there at other camps and got even better.”

According to Calloway, Austin’s made everything a lot more simplistic, so it was a lot easier for him to comprehend the different techniques that he was teaching. He also said that Clemson’s offensive line coach taught him to block people that he wasn’t able to before.

“He was able to answer basically every question I had,” Calloway said.

Calloway appreciated the way Clemson’s staff coached because a lot of times at these camps, it’s used as a recruiting tool and there’s not a lot of coaching that takes place. He really appreciated that Clemson’s coaches were coaching, correcting and making sure that he gained something out of his experience.

In addition to Clemson, Calloway also camped at Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, N.C. State, South Carolina and Maryland. He also attended N.C. State’s invite-only Alpha Wolf Showcase on Friday, July 29 and made his way back to Virginia Tech that same weekend.

“It’s been amazing,” Calloway said of his experiences this summer. “I haven’t really had any chances to be close to colleges until this year. So, it’s been crazy. Especially with seeing colleges up close, being in Clemson’s facilities and everything, it’s been insane. Clemson is definitely one of the nicest places I’ve ever been.”

“I honestly can’t wait to be back at Clemson, even if it’s just for a game,” he added.

With that, Calloway is excited to see what interest and opportunities come his way once Sept. 1 rolls around. There’s also a level of excitement that comes with his upcoming junior season. After working with an offensive line trainer this summer, there’s a noticeable difference in his game. Calloway is ready to prove that he’s one of the most improved offensive linemen in his class.

“I would say I try to be aggressive,” Calloway said when asked to describe himself as a player. “I would argue that as an o-lineman, I’m more of a run-blocking kind of guy. I haven’t been playing for the longest — I’ve got two years under my belt, but I guess I’d describe myself as a run-blocking offensive lineman.”

Calloway has certainly focused on his pass protection this summer and in his personal opinion, he feels like he’s greatly improved ahead of his junior season.
