SNL cold open about the election includes Dana Carvey as Elon Musk

This is how SNL dealt with the election.

How would Saturday Night Live deal with the recent presidential election results when they spend many a show mocking Donald Trump.

The answer is in the cold open from Saturday’s show hosted by Bill Burr (whose Buffalo Wild Wings ad was very funny): the cast stood in a set that looked like the Oval Office and talked about how criticizing Trump could mean retribution.

So that’s why the entire sketch was (jokingly, of course) about how they support him, featuring James Austin Johnson as Trump with a muscular body. There was also a Dana Carvey playing Elon Musk.

Rory McIlroy says Donald Trump’s election win ‘clears the way’ for PGA Tour-PIF deal

“But obviously Trump has a great relationship with Saudi Arabia. He’s got a great relationship with golf.”

Could Donald Trump’s return to the White House in Washington D.C. pave the way for a unification of men’s professional golf? Rory McIlroy thinks so.

McIlroy has previously stated the U.S. Department of Justice could be an obstacle to the PGA Tour’s talks with the PIF. With Trump’s imminent return to office, that may not be the case.

“Given today’s news with what’s happened in America, I think it clears the way a little bit,” McIlroy said Wednesday while speaking to reporters ahead of the DP World Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. “So we’ll see.”

Reports surfaced over the weekend about a deal being agreed to between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, though McIlroy said he was unaware of anything being done. However, with the United States presidential election in the rearview mirror, McIlroy believes the civil war in men’s professional golf could be near its end.

McIlroy was asked about Trump’s comments recently from a podcast where the president-elect said he could strike a deal between the sides in 15 minutes and that all of the best players need to be together.

“He might be able to. He’s got Elon Musk, who I think is the smartest man in the world, beside him. We might be able to do something if we can get Musk involved, too,” McIlroy stated.

“I think from the outside looking in, it’s probably a little less complicated than it actually is. But obviously Trump has great relationship with Saudi Arabia. He’s got a great relationship with golf. He’s a lover of golf. So, maybe. Who knows? But I think as the President of the United States again, he’s probably got bigger things to focus on than golf.”

McIlroy also noted PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan was in Saudi Arabia last week meeting with PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan, and Monahan is briefing the Tour’s transaction committee Wednesday night.

“So maybe some news comes out of that.”

With a top-two finish this week, McIlroy can claim the DP World Tour’s season-long race for the sixth time in his career, which would tie Seve Ballesteros for the second most all-time.

No, Travis Kelce didn’t respond to Elon Musk’s disgusting tweet after Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris endorsement

Maybe Travis Kelce will respond in the future.

Sorry to all of you who want to see Travis Kelce respond to Elon Musk after the X (formerly Twitter) owner responded to Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris endorsement with one very disgusting tweet.

“Fine Taylor … you win …” he tweeted early Wednesday. “I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.”

Ew. No.

While Travis and Jason Kelce did talk about the Tesla Cybertruck on New Heights, that was recorded before the Musk tweet (and hey, maybe they’ll address that tweet next week!). And there’s what is a fake Travis Kelce response on X that’s been making the rounds (it now has a community note to say as much):

AI predicts Panthers will defeat Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

So, how intelligent is artificial intelligence . . . ?

The 2024 Carolina Panthers are about to become the most improbable Super Bowl champion of all-time, at least according to Grok. Yes, Grok.

Grok is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by x.AI Corp., a startup company of Twitter/X owner Elon Musk. Currently under beta testing, the technology is designed to “answer almost anything” with “a bit of wit” and “a rebellious streak.”

Um, sure.

Anyway, the folks over at The 33rd Team just asked Grok to forecast the result of Super Bowl LIX—which will be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. on Feb. 9, 2025. And, uh, its answer was quite the doozy . . .

Well, that’s one heck of a prediction.

For starters, the Panthers just turned in the worst record in the entire league this past season. Their two-win campaign featured an in-season firing at the head-coaching position, a particularly rough first year for No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young and perhaps the most feeble offense in franchise history.

So not only would they have to rise from those depths to prove Grok correct, but they’d also have to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs—who have collected three of the last five Lombardi Trophies—to do so.

Oh, and they’d have to do all of that under a first-year head coach.

Yeah, maybe it’s best Grok remains under beta testing.

Mark Zuckerberg tore his ACL training for a competitive MMA fight (not likely against Elon Musk)

Mark Zuckerberg was training for a fight early next year.

For those hoping the fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk will still happen at some point, don’t expect to see it anytime soon.

In a post shared to Instagram Saturday, Zuckerberg said he had surgery to replace a torn ACL suffered while sparring as part of his training for a competitive MMA match early next year.

It’s unclear who the Meta boss was preparing to fight, but he said the bout will now be delayed.

In August, it seemed like a cage match between Zuckerberg and Musk was finally coming together after a bunch of back and forth. Musk even offered details of a location, saying it would take place in Rome. However, a few days later, Zuckerberg called off the fight, claiming Musk wasn’t being serious.

“If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me,” Zuckerberg said.

There hasn’t been much word on the matter since, so I doubt Zuckerberg was preparing to fight Musk. But whoever he was preparing to fight, they’ll have to wait a little longer.

Dana White will never say never on Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg, but it’s ‘probably not’ happening

Dana White says Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg “would have been the biggest charity event ever held in history.”

UFC president [autotag]Dana White[/autotag] has changed his tune on [autotag]Elon Musk[/autotag] vs. [autotag]Mark Zuckerberg[/autotag].

White was willing to help the two most famous tech billionaires settle their grudge in a fight, but the fire seems to have been put out recently. Zuckerberg said he’s ready to move on, as he doesn’t think Musk is serious about fighting. White himself has now started to cast his doubt on the fight happening.

“I don’t know,” White said on “OutKick The Morning.” “I never say never, but probably not.”

A fight between the CEO of X, formerly Twitter, and the founder and CEO of Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta would have captured the world’s attention. The plan was to have the majority of the proceeds go to charity,, and that’s the part White liked the most.

“Listen, I like both guys,” White said. “One of the things that I try not to do is judge people – I don’t want to be judged by my politics. I’m a believer in what I believe in, and there’s certain things that I feel a certain way about, and I don’t judge people by theirs. I don’t know exactly where all those guys stand; I don’t get into that. How I judge people is how they are with me, and how we interact with each other.

“So, I like Mark a lot, and I like Elon. Let me tell you who would win in that fight would be whatever charities were picked to donate the money to. They would be the absolute winners, because I think that thing would do a billion dollars in revenue, and they wanted 90 percent of the money to go to charity. It would have been the biggest charity event ever held in history, especially for one night. It would have helped a lot of people.”

Mark Zuckerberg says ‘it’s time to move on,’ Elon Musk isn’t serious about fighting

Mark Zuckerberg is done trying to get Elon Musk to agree to fight.

[autotag]Mark Zuckerberg[/autotag] says he’s done trying to fight [autotag]Elon Musk[/autotag].

The potential fight between the two tech billionaires may have hit a dead end. Zuckerberg revealed on his newly launched platform Threads on Sunday there have been serious talks to make the bout happen, but Musk has yet to follow through on his end.

Zuckerberg, who competes in grappling, is set on fighting, but he doesn’t think Musk is.

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious, and it’s time to move on,” Zuckerberg wrote. “I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

[lawrence-related id=2659389,2659284]

The potential fight between Musk and Zuckerberg came about after Zuckerberg accepted Musk’s challenge during a social media spat. While it seemed like nothing more than internet tough-guy talk, UFC president Dana White said the next day that both men were “dead serious” about meeting inside the cage and that he welcomed building a UFC pay-per-view event around a headliner of Musk vs. Zuckerberg.

Since, the two have traded shots back-and-forth on social media, with the latest development being that Zuckerberg is moving on from the idea of fighting Musk.

Elon Musk claims Mark Zuckerberg cage match is set, will take place in Rome

It’s on, says Elon Musk.

Do we really need to see this?

The answer is no. But according to Elon Musk, it’s happening.

That would be the cage match between the X (still calling it Twitter here) owner and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg that’s been much-discussed over the past few months as we’ve seen Musk tweet about it and Zuck show off his muscles.

Per Musk on Friday, there will be a fight. It’ll be managed by their respective foundations. It’ll be livestreamed on Meta and X (Twitter). It’ll be in Rome. That’s all we’ve got so far as we await response from Zuckerberg.

Here you go:

Also, Musk tweeted this earlier in the week:

There are already a ton of Bronny James questions about his future. Don’t add more with needless speculation

We all need to try being a bit more human

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning. Here’s Mike Sykes.

Tuesday was an absolutely terrifying day for the sports world.

We learned that McDonald’s All-American and NBA draft hopeful Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest while practicing at USC on Monday.

Immediately, upon hearing this, my heart sunk into the deepest depths of my stomach. “Not again,” I thought, as flashbacks of Damar Hamlin raced through my mind. My biggest hope was that it wasn’t worse. I hoped this it wasn’t another Hank Gathers or Reggie Lewis.

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be. Bronny was immediately tended to and rushed to the hospital in time to save his life. Now he’s reportedly in stable condition, which we should all be thankful for today because things didn’t have to end up this way.

RELATED: Bryce James posts heartfelt photo of Bronny after cardiac arrest

Sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes is rare, but it still happens more often than you think. Mostly because it’s something that you’d think wouldn’t happen at all — especially not to athletes at the highest level. There are a number of reasons this could’ve happened, as Vox Media’s Keren Landman outlines here. This also could’ve ended in a very different way.

This is a time when we should all just be thankful. We don’t have to mourn a young man who has his whole life ahead of him today. Instead, we can simply celebrate the fact that he’s still with us.

But life is never that simple, is it?

Over the course of the last 24 hours, since we learned this news, there’s been a concerning level of speculation about what’s going on with Bronny here. A particular tweet (or Xeet?) from Twitter’s lead irritant, Elon Musk, is stuck in my mind. Musk speculated that the COVID-19 vaccine might be the cause of James’ condition.

Like the rest of us, Musk is not a doctor. He’s not tending to Bronny, either. He couldn’t be further away from the situation. Yet, still, here he is bringing more questions to a situation already fraught with the unknown.

Bronny was in a position to blossom, man. He was going to USC to play basketball and live his dream. He has aspirations of going to the NBA and playing at the highest level. He was in the middle of forging his own path just like his father did before him.

Then, this happens. All of that is just put on pause at the very least until this gets figured out. We don’t know how this will turn out. We don’t know if he’ll be able to play this season. We don’t know how his plans have been disrupted.

Instead of recognizing that and showing a bit of empathy, Musk and others immediately moved to insert themselves into a situation that doesn’t call for it. At the very least, this is irresponsible behavior. At the very worst, it’s downright ghoulish.

The right move here is to simply be human. Show some care. Be concerned. Send good vibes. Because that’s what good people do.

And, clearly, we need a lot more good people.

Seahawks legend Lofa Tatupu mocks Elon Musk’s new name for Twitter

You can include legendary Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu in that crowd, as well.

The best thing about this job is that it’s essentially being paid to talk about football. The worst thing is that a great deal of that conversation takes place on Twitter, a festering portal to hell which is getting worse every single day.

The latest bizarre stunt by the site’s rich and creepy owner Elon Musk is to rename the brand after the letter X. While the morons who took HBO out of the Max brand name are probably glad there’s somebody else to take the heat, everyone else seems to be confused by Musk’s decision – and most of the site is currently dunking on him for it.

You can include legendary Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu in that crowd, as well. He did it with some elegant simplicity:

Tatupu played six years in the NFL (2005-2010). He made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. These days he runs his own Seahawks podcast.
