Is SNL new tonight? Here’s the answer.

We’ve had a great season of Saturday Night Live, with some fantastic moments, from Christopher Walken’s Foo Fighters introduction to a very funny Scarlett Johansson’s surprise cold open to the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch.

If you’re here, you might be getting ready to watch SNL on Saturday, April 20, 2024 and wondering: is it all new tonight? Who’s hosting?

The answer … no, unfortunately. You’ll get a previous episode with Shane Gillis hosting and 21 Savage as the musical guest. When is the next new SNL, you ask? Good question! It’ll be May 4, with Dua Lipa doing double duty as host and musical guest:

The SNL Beavis and Butt-Head NewsNation skit was the most randomly funny sketch of the year

This might be the funniest but most random SNL sketch of 2024.

Beavis and Butt-Head … in a Saturday Night Live sketch … in 2024 … and they’re not actually the cartoon characters we all loved in the 1990s?

AND, on top of that … it was funny?

Yeah! As you’ll see below, this skit from Ryan Gosling’s episode on Saturday was surprisingly hilarious. In it, Heidi Gardner plays a host talking to an AI expert played by Kenan Thompson, and suddenly, there’s Gosling dressed and looking like Beavis in the background. What’s more, then Mikey Day shows up looking like Butt-Head, but they claim they’re not the real-life versions of the cartoon characters.

Just watch and laugh and enjoy. It doesn’t need to make sense:

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce reportedly in talks to host ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’

Kansas City #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is reportedly in talks to host popular game show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”

The entertainment world has been an exciting venture for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since joining the NFL over a decade ago. He’s starred in his dating show and had a recent stint as host during an episode of Saturday Night Live.

Kelce’s versatility and charming appeal have made him a highly sought-after option to do more away from the football field. The Pro Bowl tight end’s name has surfaced in a recent report from Variety, suggesting that he is in talks to host the reboot of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? game show, which will be streaming soon on Amazon Prime Video.

The show originated in 2007 and was hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy for three seasons on the FOX broadcast network, followed by a version on Nickelodeon hosted by John Cena.

The Chiefs star has often been asked about his plans for a future post-football career. He’s consistently shot down suspicions that he could be preparing for retirement soon, regardless of his current status as one of the game’s best players.

While no official word on the deal has been announced, it is rumored to be in the process of being finalized, according to the report. Kelce is already a co-host with brother Jason on his successful weekly podcast, New Heights.

Watch SNL’s Scarlett Johansson hilarious parody of Katie Britt’s post-SOTU speech in surprise cold open

This was very funny.

It might be the question you asked when watching Alabama senator Katie Britt deliver her State of the Union rebuttal speech after President Joe Biden gave his address on Thursday: Who’s going to play her on Saturday Night Live?

The answer? How about an actress who’s readily available in New York and also married to a cast member (that would be Colin Jost, in case you didn’t know)?

Yep, Scarlett Johansson gave a parody speech as Britt, and lots of people had a laugh over the whole thing, which you can watch below (WARNING: there’s some NSFW language in there):

SNL’s Air Bud parody with Sydney Sweeney is both funny and adorable

SNL had a funny parody of Air Bud with Sydney Sweeney.

Ah, Air Bud. It’s the sports movie series that follows a dog that’s really, REALLY good at sports, a plot that has been much joked about over the years by many a late night host.

Although it’s 2024 and it’s been a while since you might have thought about the golden retriever (receiver), Saturday Night Live gave us a sketch in which Sweeney plays a cheerleader who discovers she’s not dating the new popular player … so she tries to flirt with him despite the fact that he’s a dog.

It’s funny but also: the dog is very cute. Check it out:

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship might be owed to Kelce’s appearance on Saturday Night Live

Did SNL bring Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce together?

Saturday Night Live might have a pretty big role in bringing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce together, according to the guys in the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy.

While appearing on comedian Mike Birbiglia’s podcast, Ben Marshall, who works at SNL with his two Please Don’t Destroy cohorts John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, discussed the trio’s mutual link to Swift and Kelce.

Both Swift and Kelce appeared in Please Don’t Destroy sketches during recent SNL appearances, with Kelce’s coming before Swift’s.

According to Marshall, Swift told the group that she watched Kelce’s episode and thought he was funny, which makes you wonder if Swift might’ve had eyes for Kelce before the two started dating.

Marshall joked that he’d kept that anecdote under wraps in case the two ever break up and Please Don’t Destroy got caught for any of the blame.

It’s fascinating to think that this all could’ve started because Swift saw Kelce host Saturday Night Live, but people fall for each other in a variety of ways. Nailing your SNL hosting gig while a music icon watches is certainly one way it could happen.

Big-time Notre Dame fan to host Saturday Night Live

Will he mention the Fighting Irish at all on SNL?

A former Saturday Night Live cast member, who was fired in 2019, is returning to host the show on February 24 of this year.  And it just so happens this comedian happens to be a big-time Notre Dame football fan.

Shane Gillis, who is in the middle of a tour that’s seemingly sold out nationwide, was set to be a cast member of SNL in 2019 but a podcast clip from over a year earlier surfaced where Gillis used slurs in describing different groups.

If you want to find out what he said then Google is readily available for you but we won’t share that or his apology here.

Instead, we’ll point out that Gillis is a big-time Notre Dame football fan.  He’s shared stories (largely inappropriate ones) about traveling to South Bend for the spring game as a teenager and also shared about being in Dublin for Notre Dame-Navy in 2023 and nearly seeing Brady Quinn get in a fight.

Those are all a simple YouTube search away for you check out.  No idea if he’ll reference Notre Dame football at all when he hosts SNL later this month but perhaps between Donald Trump impressions he’ll show a little ND love.
