Nation’s No. 1 ranked recruit in class of 2025 visiting Georgia soon

Could Georgia go back-to-back in recruiting as well?

Georgia has a commitment from the No. 1 player in the class of 2024, quarterback Dylan Raiola. Now, the question on everyone’s mind is whether the Bulldogs can secure the commitment of the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2025 as well. That would give yet another meaning to “back-to-back,” a term Georgia has become awfully familiar with lately.

That player is defensive tackle Elijah Griffin, the top ranked player in the nation for the class of 2025, per the 247Sports composite.

He hails from Savannah, Georgia.

Griffin posted from his personal Twitter account that he plans to visit the Georgia Bulldogs on June 1.

The 6-foot-4, 270 pound lineman visited South Carolina and Clemson last weekend. Griffin last visited Georgia in April for UGA’s annual G-Day game.

According to 247Sports, Georgia and South Carolina are the top contenders at the moment.

Georgia’s pursuit of Griffin began early. The Bulldogs offered him a scholarship in middle school when he was only 13 years old (September 2020). This early show of faith from Kirby Smart, the head coach, has undoubtedly made a lasting impression on Griffin.

Last season, as a sophomore at Savannah Christian Preparatory School, he recorded 82 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a football scholarship to talented recruit Elijah Griffin

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a football scholarship to talented recruit Elijah Griffin. Griffin is a member of the class of 2025, so he’s only an eighth grader.

Griffin already has impressive size and strength for an eighth grader. He’s 6-foot-5 and weights 260 pounds.

Griffin currently plays football for Savannah Christian Preparatory School. He’s only 13 years old right now. Griffin should have a bright future ahead.

Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia aren’t afraid to offer young players very early in their football careers. Griffin has size and speed that aren’t fair at the middle school level. Griffin has some dominant tape on Hudl.

Griffin will continue to grow and should become a top recruit in his class. It is pretty rare for UGA to offer any player a scholarship this early. We’ll keep an eye on Griffin as he adjusts to the high school level in 2021.

Elijah Griffin announced his scholarship offer via his Twitter account. Griffin states that it is his first college offer.
