Eagles select Clemson RB Will Shipley with pick No. 127 overall in 2024 NFL draft

The Philadelphia Eagles selected former Clemson running back Will Shipley with the 127th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

The Eagles added a dynamic dual-threat in round four of the 2024 NFL draft, selecting former Clemson star running back Will Shipley with the 127th overall pick.

In his final game at Clemson, Shipley recorded 132 all-purpose yards to help the Tigers win 38-35 over Kentucky in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 29. Shipley returned two kickoffs for 94 yards, rushed for 29 yards, and caught two passes for nine yards before exiting with an injury.

Shipley finished the 2023 season with 827 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He also added 31 receptions for 244 yards and two more scores.

The 2022 campaign was Shipley’s best statical season, as the dual-threat running back rushed for 1,182 yards and 15 touchdowns and added 38 catches for 242 yards. He finishes his college career with 2,748 yards and 31 touchdowns rushing to go with more than 600 yards receiving.

Eagles will pick 22nd overall in 2024 NFL draft

After a 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in the wild card round, the Eagles will pick 22nd overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft

The Eagles season is over, and a lot of change is set to come after a 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in an NFC wild-card matchup at Raymond James Stadium on Monday.

Philadelphia was inconsistent on offense and melted down on the defensive side of the ball, including 10+ missed tackles on the evening.

With the exit interviews set to begin on Wednesday, GM Howie Roseman will focus on the draft and retooling an underachieving roster.

With the first 24 picks in the 2024 NFL draft locked in after the wild-card round of the playoffs, we know where the Rams will be picking. The Eagles will have the 22nd overall selection in Round 1, two slots before the Cowboys.

The order is based on the team’s record and strength of schedule. For most of the season, Philadelphia was slotted to pick in the back of the first round before going 1-6 in their final seven games, including the playoffs.

Below is the order of the first 24 picks in the draft.

Who are the Eagles’ biggest draft steals of the past decade?

Josh Sweat, Jalen Hurts among the Eagles’ biggest draft steals of the past decade

After several misses in the 2019 and 2020 NFL drafts, Eagles GM Howie Roseman has hit on several high-profile picks (DeVonta Smith-Landon Dickerson), catapulting the franchise into Super Bowl contention.

Not all of Roseman’s best work has come in the early rounds.

Despite warranted criticism over the years, Philadelphia’s GM has done a solid job of landing productive talent in the later rounds.

With training camp fast approaching, we’ve highlighted six homegrown talents who have become the biggest draft steals of the past decade.

Okay, so here we go with the Jalen Hurts experience. He was an interesting pick in the second round last year, and now he’s the man after the Eagles were able to launch Carson Wentz and his deal – for the most part. The problem was the rest of the 2020 draft – there weren’t any obvious difference-makers among the ten picks unless WR Jalen Reagor plays up to his first round talent. That means …

The Eagles have to give Hurts some help. It would be nice if Reagor did more than make 31 catches for 396 yards and a score, and he might still be a factor, but at the 12 it’ll be an Alabama wide receiver – either DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle – to keep throwing prospects at the problem.

The defense needs help, too. Grabbing a corner might not be as much fun as getting a receiver, but the value is there at the 12 to get a decent one and several should be available at the 37. Overall, the team simply needs more playmakers – expect that to be at receiver.
