Philadelphia enters the contest ranked second in total offense (419.8 yards per game) and fifth in scoring (27 points per game).

Dallas will enter the contest with just 14.4 points allowed per game. No team has scored more than 19 points against the Cowboys, and they’re among the league leaders in sacks and pressures.

Watch: DeMarcus Lawrence on Jalen Hurts playing better: He hasn’t played the Cowboys yet

Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is tired of talking about Jalen Hurts and can’t tell you if the Eagles quarterback has improved because he hasn’t faced the Cowboys yet

The Cowboys and Eagles are on a collision course, and DeMarcus Lawrence just fired the first verbal salvo in the 2022 version of the rivalry.

During a Thursday discussion with the media, Dallas’ versatile pass rusher was asked about Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts improvement as a passer this season; Lawrence took a wait-and-see approach to the situation.

“Has he played us? All right. Different teams run different schemes. … All y’all need to write is he hasn’t played the Cowboys yet, so we don’t know how good is he.”

Later in the conversation, Lawrence added more about Hurts, saying Hurts is a “good quarterback” and that Philadelphia has the best offense the Cowboys have seen this season.

“They do have a pretty good offense,” Lawrence said. “They (have) got a good WR corps, good QB, good O-line, so they’re well-rounded.”

In five games this season, Hurts is completing 67.9% of his passes, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt and 271.8 pass yards per game with ten rushing touchdowns.

WATCH: A former Badger linebacker’s strip sack seals a win on SNF

It was a weekend of highlight plays for Wisconsin products in the NFL with Russell Wilson’s 261-yard and 4-touchdown performance, Andrew Van Ginkel returning a fumble for a touchdown, T.J. Watt’s sack and 5 quarterbacks hits and more.

The best play and full-game performance of the day did not come until Sunday night, though, as former Badger linebacker and current Philadelphia Eagle T.J. Edwards returned from injured reserve and put together the best game of his young career.

His final line was 13 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 tackle-for-loss and 1 quarterback hit.

Related: Another update on Wisconsin’s COVID-19 outbreak

The biggest play, obviously, was his first career sack that forced a Dallas Cowboy fumble–a play that ended up clinching an Eagles victory.

This play was obviously an impressive one, but his complete performance last night–mainly in the run game—showed that he is close to cementing himself as the best linebacker the Eagles have.

Edwards’ rise is nothing short of remarkable after he was not selected in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed to the team as an undrafted free agent–at least remarkable to those who didn’t watch him on the field in Madison.

T.J. Edwards and the first-place Eagles now enter their bye week as the team looks to improve upon their sloppy and far-from convincing against the now-2-6 Cowboys.
