The Rock absolutely loved Travis Kelce’s trash-talking homage during AFC title celebration

The Rock approves!

It looks like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has a new fan in one of the most famous people on the planet.

After Kelce channeled Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his AFC championship trophy speech, the former WWE star-turned-Hollywood actor praised the tight end for his homage.

When The Rock likes what you’re cooking, you know that you’re doing your trash talk at an elite level. Kelce threw around plenty of shade during Sunday’s celebrations, and he’s certainly found a new admirer in one of the shade kings of his generation.

This is just another fantastic feather in Kelce’s cap.

Wow, that’s pretty cool for Kelce. Now that The Rock has given him his stamp of approval, we can bet that Kelce will continue the wrestling vibes into Super Bowl weekend.

If Kelce can take home a second Super Bowl for his career, it’ll make all of his trash talk that much sweeter.

The XFL 2023 introduces its football, which will have a first

Dany Garcia’s name will be on the XFL footballs in the 2023 season

The XFL is starting to build for its return in 2023.

The league that has two strikes already is backed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and its chairwoman, Dany Garcia.

The league revealed its football on Tuesday and it will be different than any ball used in any other football league.

Why? Because the signature on the football will be that of Garcia, making her the first female to have her name on a pro football league’s game ball.

XFL reveals 8 team cities for 2023 season

What 8 cities will be the home to XFL teams in 2023

The XFL will kick off in slightly less than seven months. The league announced the 8 cities that will be the home to each of its teams for the 2023 season.

There are some familiar places among the eight, such as St. Louis, Washington, Seattle, Houston, and Las Vegas.

“I’m psyched to reveal the cities that our players will have the chance to represent and compete in. This is another massive moment for the XFL, and I’m ready to feel the electricity our dedicated fans will bring to these iconic venues,” league owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said in a statement.

“There is great energy building within our league and there is still much more to come… and I can promise it’s going to be worth the wait. We have been working on fresh, new logos and uniforms – even working with some of the team names you already know – that will match the dynamic and innovative vision of our league. We see you, we hear you and your excitement fuels us to continue to bring you the absolute best. We have just under seven months until kickoff and the countdown is officially on.”

The coaches and venues were also revealed as part of the announcement on Sunday for the league that will kick off on Feb. 18, 2023.

Arlington, Texas: Head coach Bob Stoops | Choctaw Stadium

Houston: Head coach Wade Phillips | TDECU Stadium

Orlando, Florida: Head coach Terrell Buckley | Camping World Stadium

Las Vegas: Head coach Rod Woodson | TBA

San Antonio: Head coach Hines Ward | The Alamodome

Seattle: Head coach Jim Haslett | Lumen Field

St. Louis: Head coach Anthony Becht | The Dome

Washington: Head coach Reggie Barlow | Audi Field

This will be the third incarnation of a league called the XFL. The first two were launched by former WWE boss Vince McMahon. The original league failed after its 2021 season, and the second version ended after five weeks due to COVID-19.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reveals XFL broadcast partners

What television networks will show the third version of the XFL?

The XFL is still about a year away from its third launch. That doesn’t mean someone as savvy as league owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is short on finding ways to get publicity for the league.

On Tuesday, the pop culture icon revealed the league’s broadcast partners. The games in 2023 will be shown on ABC/ESPN and FX … all of them.

The agreement is for multiple years with ABC and ESPN who will have exclusive broadcast rights for all 2023-2027 game day content, and more.

Each season’s 43 games will be aired & streamed across ABC, ESPN, and FX.

The multi-year contracts show an optimistic side for the brand. The first version of the XFL was scuttled after its first season by WWE boss Vince McMahon.

He relaunched the league in 2020 but that ended mid-season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is a definitive moment for the XFL and the beginning of an incredible, long-term partnership for the league, building on my longstanding, very successful legacy relationship I’ve had with Disney throughout my career,” Johnson said.

“We’re excited to be working with global visionaries that are aligned with the XFL’s values, are true team players and share our ambitious goals to grow the XFL as a global sports and entertainment business. Through the combined power of Disney, ESPN, and the XFL, together we will create a new powerhouse on the sports calendar and bring a dynamic game of football to fans everywhere. Time to ball out.”

“To find a partner that honors our foundation and to be able to root our vision of unwavering passion, accessibility, and the future of football with Disney as our home, is a dream come true,” league chairwoman Dany Garcia said.
“We are extraordinarily excited to explore the endless possibilities of this partnership – today is surely just the beginning.”

Watch Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s eye-popping reaction to Michael Chandler’s knockout of Tony Ferguson

‘The Rock’ nearly spit out his drink as Michael Chandler connected with the front kick that knocked out Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

Even the biggest star in Hollywood gets floored when incredible things happen inside the octagon.

[autotag]Dwayne Johnson[/autotag], who has been a fan of the UFC for many years, posted a selfie-style video to social media showing his reaction to the insane knockout that [autotag]Michael Chandler[/autotag] created with his front kick to the chin of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

In the video, “The Rock” appears to be enjoying the pay-per-view event by himself with a cold beverage close by. The video starts as the second round of Chandler vs. Ferguson begins.

“Let me tell you something, you could feel the electricity and the mana,” Johnson said in the video posted to Instagram, reacting to the energy of the first round. “You could feel it through the TV. By the way, I could just imagine how it is in this arena. Let’s f*cking go, boys.”

Johnson turned his camera back toward his television screen for a moment and then back to himself to offer a toast to the camera, naturally, with a brand he owns, Teremana Tequila.

Just as Johnson began to sip from his glass, the front kick from Chandler landed that put Ferguson down, and “The Rock” nearly spit out his drink as his eyes opened wide in disbelief.

“Holy sh*t,” Johnson said after a few seconds of silence. “F*cking incredible. Chandler caught Ferguson I think with a high right kick. That was in-f*cking-credible.”

Johnson is no stranger to attending UFC events and keeping up with the news surrounding the promotion and the sport of MMA. In addition to taking in a number of events cageside over the years, “The Rock” has also been a direct participant in the festivities.

At UFC 244, Johnson cut a promo at the weigh-ins and wrapped the “BMF” title around [autotag]Jorge Masvidal[/autotag]’s waist after he defeated Nate Diaz in the pay-per-view’s main event.

XFL names 8 head coaches for third run

The XFL announced its head coaches for the 2023 season and there are some big names

The XFL announced its eight head coaches on Wednesday as league leaders Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson ramp up for the third incarnation of the league, which will kick off in 2023.

The XFL III will have some big names as coaches: Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, Wade Phillips, Bob Stoops, and Terrell Buckley are among the eight.

The other four are Reggie Barlow, Hines Ward, Jim Haslett and Anthony Becht.

Vince McMahon twice attempted to start and succeed with the XFL. The firsr run was scuttled after a year and the second was ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then completely disbanded.

Former Saints coaches Jim Haslett, Wade Phillips now leading XFL teams

The XFL announced its eight head coaches for the 2023 season, including former Saints coaches Jim Haslett and Wade Phillips:

This is cool: the XFL announced their eight head coaches for the 2023 season on Wednesday, including two coaches with New Orleans Saints ties. Jim Haslett worked as Saints head coach from 2000 to 2005, and he’s joined on the XFL’s roster by Wade Phillips, New Orleans’ defensive coordinator from 1981 to 1985 and whose Saints run ended as interim head coach. We don’t yet know whether the XFL is returning to the same cities as last time, or which teams each coach will be running.

The other six XFL head coaches include Bob Stoops, Terrell Buckley, Hines Ward, Rod Woodson, Reggie Barlow, and Anthony Becht. Of that group, only Stoops returns from the XFL’s first relaunch back in 2020. The start-up spring league did well with national broadcasts on FOX and some crossover appeal through sideline reporting from Saints star Cameron Jordan, but the COVID-19 pandemic put an early stop to it. The XFL has since changed ownership and is now being managed by an investment group headlined by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia.

As for Haslett: he guided the Saints to the franchise’s first playoff victory in his first year on the job, going 45-51 as head coach before his dismissal after the 2005 season – which the Saints played entirely on the road in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Over the years Haslett has worked as a defensive coordinator and position coach in the NFL, most recently joining the Tennessee Titans as inside linebackers coach in 2020.

Phillips first arrived in New Orleans as defensive coordinator for his father, former Saints head coach Bud Phillips. He went on to work as a defensive coordinator for seven different NFL teams with stops as a head coach for the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and Dallas Cowboys, with interim looks on the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans. He’s accomplished an 82-64 record in the regular season but just 1-5 in the playoffs. We’ll see where Phillips and Haslett end up coaching and how often they’ll be running up against each other once the XFL shares more details.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gave a People’s Champ speech to start Super Bowl 56

It is time for a motivational speech.

The Super Bowl, in case anyone forgot is the NFL’s championship game. And for championship games, you have to not only pull out all the stops when it comes to pomp and pizzaz, you bring out a man of the people. Maybe the man of the people.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave a stirring pre-game speech for Super Bowl LVI. A speech reminiscent of his WWE days where he was the “People’s Champ.” Johnson — who is more known for his acting prowess these days — could not resist pumping up the Rams and Bengals in a way that would’ve made his old boss, Vince McMahon, proud.

It was a fun, melodramatic idea to mesh the NFL and WWE for the Super Bowl. But, if I’m being candid: I’m still not sure what “it’s time” refers to.

The start of the game? The start, or end, of Johnson’s speech? Maybe we should get Johnson back out there for the halftime show and the post-game celebrations, to be sure. This isn’t the time to recklessly speculate over meaning. There’s football on!

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wows with Super Bowl 56 opening

The Rock delivered a vintage promo to open Super Bowl 56. Once a Superstar, always a Superstar

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows how to grab the moment.

The former sports entertainer, actor, and business mogul received the honor of doing the opening for Super Bowl 56 Sunday and he absolutely was on point before the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams got to “rasslin'”

Classic “The Rock.”
