Drew Rosenhaus confirms Emmanuel Ogbah’s desire for Dolphins extension

Drew Rosenhaus confirms Emmanuel Ogbah’s desire for Dolphins extension

Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah has been keeping his distance from the Dolphins organization early on this offseason — training on his own to ensure he’s ready for the start of the 2021 season. The 2021 campaign will be a critical one for Ogbah, as it is currently scheduled to be the final year of his 2-year, $15M contract signing with the Dolphins back ahead of the 2020 season. And, on the heels of a 9-sack season that would lead the team, Ogbah is hoping that this year won’t be his last in Miami.

That much has been made abundantly clear thanks to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus went on the air for a weekly segment with WSVN-Fox 7 and confirmed the suspicions and what the whispers of the offseason has suggested:

Ogbah would like a new deal to stay in Miami.

“Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah — who has been training on his own in recent weeks while many of his teammates worked together at team headquarters — will attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp that runs Tuesday through Thursday this week, agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his weekly segment on WSVN-Fox 7.

“We would like to get an extension done,” Rosenhaus said. “We’ve approached the Dolphins about that. That’s as much as I can say.”” — Barry Jackson, Miami Herald

Rosenhaus knows a little something about getting extensions done with the Dolphins, too. One of his other clients, LB Jerome Baker, just signed a 3-year, $39M contract extension to keep him in Miami through the end of the 2024 season on the cusp of what would have been a contract year for him, too.

Whether or not the Dolphins decide to ‘play ball’ with Ogbah and Rosenhaus will likely be determined where the money falls. If there’s common interest and common ground with the financials, an extension certainly could make sense. But Miami would be well within their rights to be hesitant, too. Miami get the best version of Ogbah we’ve seen yet; was that a one-year wonder or is that a sustainable pace of play?

How the Dolphins choose to proceed from here will tell you how they personally feel about Ogbah’s forecast.

Greg Newsome joins Rosenhaus Sports, remains unsigned with Browns

Newsome parted ways with his old agent last week

Cleveland Browns first-round draft pick Greg Newsome has himself a new agent. A week after dropping his old agency, CAA, Newsome has signed on with Rosenhaus Sports and uber agent Drew Rosenhaus.

The cornerback from Northwestern remains unsigned with the Browns. Newsome’s choice of agent representation is largely inconsequential to his rookie deal with Cleveland; rookie salaries are firmly established by the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the NFLPA.

Rosenhaus represents many prominent players around the NFL. Among his clients on the Browns: tight end David Njoku, who immediately demanded a trade upon signing with Rosenhaus only to later walk that back.

Panthers picking up fifth-year option for WR D.J. Moore

The Carolina Panthers will exercise wide receiver D.J. Moore’s fifth-year option, according to Adam Schefter at ESPN.

The Carolina Panthers will exercise wide receiver D.J. Moore’s fifth-year option, according to Adam Schefter at ESPN. Picking up Moore’s option was a no-brainer as far as these things go. Doing so will cost the Panthers $11.116 million in 2022.

While Moore’s game is still somewhat raw after three seasons in the NFL, he’s improved every year and his production has been impressive despite dealing with some poor play and major injuries at quarterback. In 46 games, Moore has posted 208 catches, 3,156 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Carolina has one other player currently on the roster with an eligible fifth-year option: quarterback Sam Darnold. The team has until May 3 to make their decision. That call likely hinges on whether or not they pick a quarterback in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft tonight.

If he’s still there when the Panthers are on the clock, we expect Ohio State’s Justin Fields will be the pick.

Drew Rosenhaus weighs in on Gregory Rousseau’s NFL draft projections

Agent Drew Rosenhaus weighs in on where he expects Miami edge defender Gregory Rousseau to land in the 2021 NFL draft

Projections for where Miami edge defender Gregory Rousseau will land in the 2021 NFL draft have been all over the place in recent weeks, but his agent took to social media Wednesday morning to give his take.

Drew Rosenhaus says that multiple NFL teams have told him Rousseau will be their first-round pick if he’s on the board when they go on the clock.

Widely regarded as a potential top-10 pick and the top prospect at his position heading into last season, Rousseau opted out of the 2020 college football campaign, which may have impacted his draft stock.

We’ll see where he lands next weekend, but for now, his agent still sounds confident that his name will be called on the first night.

Joe Haden’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, responds to jersey burning

Former Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones burned autograph jerseys of Steelers corner Joe Haden that were received in the mail.

Former Bengals cornerback, Adam “Pacman” Jones, received a “care package” of Joe Haden autographed jerseys on Wednesday. It’s unknown who sent the jerseys, and the mystery behind it may never be revealed.

Jones took the time to burn them live on social media. Though Pacman is well-known for his public outbursts, it’s been years since he’s been relevant in the world of pro football. So, the point is unclear as to why Adam was sent the jerseys.

On Thursday, Haden’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, released a statement regarding the incident stating that his client is a first-class person, and the jersey burning is not condoned.

David Njoku rescinds his trade request from the Browns

The trade request earlier this summer came almost immediately after Njoku changed representation to Drew Rosenhaus

Browns tight end David Njoku has backed away from his request for the team to trade him prior to the 2020 NFL season.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Njoku and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have rescinded their request with the Browns. Rapoport cites the positive talks between Njoku and new GM Andrew Berry and others on the team as the reason Rosenhaus, who was attributed by Rapoport, and Njoku have changed course.

The trade request earlier this summer came almost immediately after Njoku changed representation to Rosenhaus. Prior to that, Njoku was “ready to roll” under new head coach Kevin Stefanski in the Browns base two-TE offense. Stefanski also publicly praised the opportunity for Njoku to thrive in 2020 in Cleveland.

Njoku tweeted out his own commitment to being the best he can be in Cleveland.

The young TE still has two years remaining on his rookie contract. The Browns picked up the fifth-year option on his contract earlier this offseason.

David Njoku asks the Browns to trade him

Tight end David Njoku asks the Browns to trade him via his agent, Drew Rosenhaus

Browns tight end David Njoku is ready to leave the Cleveland Browns. Via his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Njoku has asked the Browns to trade him away.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the trade demand, which comes at the onset of the holiday weekend.

Earlier this offseason the new Browns regime of GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski picked up the 5th-year option on Njoku’s contract. He was one of the team’s three 1st-round selections in the 2017 NFL Draft. Stefanski’s offense makes liberal use of multiple tight ends, and Njoku is expected to be a big part of the offense along with prized free agent TE, Austin Hooper.

Schefter’s report indicates the team does intend on keeping him.

In three seasons, Njoku has 93 receptions for 1,066 yards and nine TDs. He missed 12 games in 2019 with a broken wrist and a concussion, suffered on the same play.

Could the Seahawks bring DT Danny Shelton back to Seattle?

The Seattle Seahawks need reinforcements along the defensive line, and former UW tackle Danny Shelton could be a good fit in free agency.

The Seattle Seahawks will be in the market for reinforcements along the interior defensive line in 2020, with the pending free agencies of both Jarran Reed and Al Woods.

Reed is looking to cash in at age 27, and has already made it clear that a price tag of $10 million annually is too low for his liking.

If the Seahawks re-sign Jadeveon Clowney, or pony up for another big name free agent, they’ll have a hard time committing the amount of money necessary to keep Reed – which could send him elsewhere for next year.

If that’s the case, the Seahawks will need to look to the rest of the free agent market, or the draft, to find more interior defensive tackles to join Poona Ford, regardless of whether they bring back Woods.

One option is former University of Washington tackle Danny Shelton. Shelton was a first round pick by the Browns in 2015 and spent three years in Cleveland before joining the Patriots.

Shelton’s first season in New England was subpar, but he rebounded with a nice year in 2019, recording a career-high three sacks with 61 combined tackles, six quarterback hits and one forced fumble while playing in all 16 contests.

Shelton parlayed that performance into an agent swap, hiring the famous Drew Rosenhaus – who represents new Seahawk Greg Olsen as well as Malik McDowell and, formerly, Sidney Rice.

Shelton will command a decent payday, probably in the $4-5 million rang annually, making him a cheap, solid option to replace Reed or Woods if they go elsewhere this offseason.

Steelers CB Artie Burns signs with Drew Rosenhaus

Artie Burns is planning for free agency if the Steelers release him.

Another Pittsburgh Steeler heading into the offseason is signing with powerhouse agent Drew Rosenhaus. First it was defensive tackle Javon Hargrave announced he was going to have Rosenhaus represent him in his upcoming negotiations and now Burns is doing the same.

While Hargrave is looking for a huge free-agent payday, Burns has something else in mind. Burns still has once more season left on his rookie contract but the writing is on the wall. The Steelers aren’t likely to keep Burns for his final season.

If Burns is released by the Steelers after a rather mediocre start to his career, he’s going to need a salesman like Rosenhaus to help get his career on track with a new team.

The drafting of Burns in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft broke a nearly two-decade drought of the Steelers using a first-round pick on a cornerback. Unfortunately he never really found a good fit in the Steelers scheme and once his confidence started to waiver there was no going back.

Steelers DT Javon Hargave gets new agent ahead of free-agent payday

Javon Hargrave has hired Drew Rosenhaus to be his agent.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is about to become a very rich young man. The former third-round pick is preparing to sign a huge contract this offseason. In preparation for it, Hargrave signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus and his agency. If he was looking to maximize his market value this offseason, this is how you do it.

If you only pay attention to the boxscores, you don’t understand just how impactful Hargrave has been for the Steelers the last two seasons. Hargrave’s ability to disrupt the middle of an offensive line, whether it’s with his quickness or power is elite. Some games last season he was the best defensive lineman on the field for either team.

Hargrave, along with linebacker Bud Dupree are the two big free-agent decisions the Steelers will have to make this offseason. It would be ideal if Pittsburgh could keep both but given the option, Hargrave could be a little cheaper and would be more challenging to replace.
