Watch: Former Ohio State baseball star Dominic Canzone makes highlight catch

Good enough to make the evenings top plays? #GoBucks

[autotag]Dominic Canzone[/autotag] is making [autotag]Ohio State baseball[/autotag] fans extremely proud of his recent MLB success.

The Cleveland native starred for the Buckeyes from 2017-2019 before being drafted by the [autotag]Arizona Diamondbacks[/autotag]. Canzone made his major league debut earlier this year for the club that drafted him, but was sent to the [autotag]Seattle Mariners[/autotag] during a trade deadline deal.

The move opened up more playing time for him, and Canzone has made the most of it, especially on defense. Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays, the left fielder made a highlight reel catch, running into the wall, falling into the stands and holding on for the out. Watch for yourself below.

Although Canzone has struggled at the plate, hitting just .231 on the season, he’s making much more of an impact than the stats would show.

Watch: Former Ohio State baseball star gets his first MLB hit

The first of many! Congrats Dominic! #GoBucks

Through the first four-plus games of former [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] baseball star [autotag]Dominic Canzone[/autotag]’s first taste of Major League Baseball, he was still searching for his first hit.

After starting Tuesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves and going 0-for-4, Canzone stepped up to the plate with his Arizona Diamondbacks down a run. The outfielder who started as the designated hitter came up with a clutch base hit right field to tie the game at 13 in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Canzone was visibly excited, who wouldn’t be? His first major league hit, and first RBI at an important juncture in the game that helped his team get a victory.

Check out Canzone’s first MLB hit and RBI in the video below and congrats Dominic!

Former Ohio State baseball player Dominic Canzone gets major league call up

Former Ohio State outfielder Dominic Canzone got called up to the majors with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

There aren’t too many former Ohio State baseball players out there playing at the game’s highest level, but you can now follow a former outfielder that’s playing out in Arizona. That’s because former Buckeye shortstop Dominic Canzone was called up by the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Canzone, who played for the Buckeyes from 2017 to 2019 and put together an impressive career, batting .336 with 23 home runs and 114 RBIs during his three years in Columbus.

The northeast Ohio native played in 71 games the season at Triple-A Reno where he batted .354 and hit 16 home runs with RBIs. He also scored 60 runs.

Now Canzone will get a chance to live out his lifelong dream of making a name for himself in the majors and all of Buckeye Nation will be cheering him on. We’re pretty sure Diamondback fans will as well.
