Former Ohio State baseball player Dominic Canzone gets major league call up

Former Ohio State outfielder Dominic Canzone got called up to the majors with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

There aren’t too many former Ohio State baseball players out there playing at the game’s highest level, but you can now follow a former outfielder that’s playing out in Arizona. That’s because former Buckeye shortstop Dominic Canzone was called up by the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Canzone, who played for the Buckeyes from 2017 to 2019 and put together an impressive career, batting .336 with 23 home runs and 114 RBIs during his three years in Columbus.

The northeast Ohio native played in 71 games the season at Triple-A Reno where he batted .354 and hit 16 home runs with RBIs. He also scored 60 runs.

Now Canzone will get a chance to live out his lifelong dream of making a name for himself in the majors and all of Buckeye Nation will be cheering him on. We’re pretty sure Diamondback fans will as well.
