Compton was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy as a child and has undergone two heart transplants, one in 1992 when he was just 12 years old and another in 2008. A journeyman through professional golf, Compton has wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, Canadian Tour and former NGA Hooters Tour, but never broke through on the PGA Tour.

In two Tour starts this year, Compton finished T-29 at the Corales Puntacana Championship and T-63 at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He missed the cut in his lone pair of starts last season at the Honda Classic and Charles Schwab, and hasn’t played in more than two events since the 2015-16 season.

Commanders DE James Smith-Williams receives award for his work against domestic violence

James Smith-Williams is honored for his work off the field.

James Smith-Williams was a seventh-round pick of the Washington Commanders in the 2020 NFL draft. That’s the same year Washington selected defensive end Chase Young No. 2 overall.

While many consider seventh-round picks as throwaways, Washington has found late-round gems, such as Smith-Williams and Kamren Curl.

Smith-Williams has played in 42 of a possible 50 games for Washington since 2020, making 20 starts.

While Smith-Williams has proven to be a critical part of the Commanders’ defense, he’s also a busy man off the field.

Smith-Williams spends much of his free time raising awareness against sexual and domestic violence. Smith-Williams first began as an advocate against domestic violence while he was a student at N.C. State. Smith-Williams heard an advocate speaking about surviving a sexual assault, which was a message that stuck with him.

“Her biggest takeaway was, ‘If you’re a good man, what are you doing to be a good man?'” Smith-Williams told NBC’s TODAY Show in October. “That really stuck with me.”

Earlier this week, Smith-Williams was honored for his outstanding work off the field. He received the “Champion of Justice” award from the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project for his work against sexual and domestic violence.

Here’s part of his speech, per Zach Selby of commanders.com.

Congratulations to Smith-Williams on receiving this award. He’s one of the NFL’s good guys.

Former Seahawk Chad Wheeler violates court order in pending DV case

Former Seattle Seahawks OT Chad Wheeler has violated a court order in his pending DV case by removing his electronic home monitoring device.

Former Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman, Chad Wheeler, has been on house arrest as a result of his pending felony domestic violence case and has now found himself in even more trouble.

Wheeler has violated a court order by removing his electronic home monitoring device, a spokesperson with the King County Prosecutor’s Office told ESPN’s Brady Henderson on Tuesday.

“According to court documents obtained by ESPN, Wheeler’s defense attorney said his client was experiencing a ‘mental health crisis’ on the evening of July 31 when he took off all his clothes, removed the electronic home monitoring (EHM) device from his ankle and began wandering the streets in the Seattle suburb of Redmond,” Henderson writes. “A friend located Wheeler, called for help and took a photograph of him as he was being tended to by first responders while naked.

“Wheeler was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and released the next morning, according to the documents.”

The ex-Seahawk was first arrested on the DV charge in January of 2021 when he allegedly choked his girlfriend at the time until she lost consciousness.

Wheeler’s trial remains set to begin on Sept. 26.

Report: Adrian Peterson won’t face felony domestic violence charge

TMZ is reporting that long-time running back Adrian Peterson will not face a felony charge following his domestic violence arrest in LA.

Football fans around the world were greeted with some unfortunate news Sunday morning before the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals faced off in Super Bowl LVI.

Long-time NFL running back and former Seattle Seahawk, Adrian Peterson, was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence following an altercation with his wife that day as the plane began to depart Los Angeles International Airport, bound for Houston, Texas.

Most assumed a felony charge would be filed promptly after the incident, although a recent report from TMZ news suggests otherwise.

“A rep from the L.A. DA’s office tells TMZ Sports they’ve elected not to charge the 36-year-old running back,” the exclusive article states. “But, Peterson isn’t totally in the clear just yet. The case will now be sent to the Los Angeles City Attorney … who could opt to bring misdemeanor domestic violence charges against AD (Peterson).”Peterson appeared in one game for Seattle last season after he was signed to the practice squad in December. He is now a free agent.

Running back Adrian Peterson arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Adrian Peterson has been arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence.

Running back Adrian Peterson has been arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence following an incident that occurred in Los Angeles over the weekend.

On Sunday, Peterson and his wife had boarded a flight to Houston that had yet to depart when the event was alleged to have occurred. The plane turned around on the tarmac and Peterson was taken into custody at Los Angeles International Airport. TMZ was the first to report the story.

“I was literally mind-blown that they took me to jail,” Peterson said via Mark Berman of Fox 26. “They were like, ‘I’m sorry, Mr. Peterson, but because she had a scratch on her finger, (in) the state of California, we have to take you in.’ I sit there and watch the plane pull back and take off and I’m just like, ‘Wow! I cannot believe this is happening right now. I’m going to jail, and I literally didn’t do anything.’”

Peterson continued to attempt to explain the situation that led up to his arrest. Below is more from his telephone interview with FOX 26 Sports.

“It’s blown out of proportion,” Peterson said in the statement. “Me and the wife got into an argument on the plane. That was pretty much the gist of it. I ended up grabbing her hand and taking her ring off her finger. She didn’t press any charges. The state of California pressed charges because there was a scratch on her hand. Literally that’s why I went to jail, because the ring left a scratch on her finger. We just had a disagreement. I know the headlines: Domestic violence. You’d think I beat her up or something. It was nothing like that.”

Peterson was signed to the Seahawks practice squad this December and appeared in one game for Seattle.

This story is continuing to develop.

Former Washington running back arrested

Adrian Peterson played two seasons for Washington.

Former Washington and future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson was arrested Sunday morning for domestic violence.

According to Los Angeles airport police, Peterson and his wife Ashley became involved in a verbal and physical altercation while departing LAX airport. What’s more, the airplane actually had to return to the gate because of the altercation.

Peterson was then arrested and charged with felony domestic violence. Peterson’s wife remained on the plane and flew back to Houston where the family home is located.

Airport police received a call Sunday morning around 8:30 am regarding a disturbance on the aircraft headed for Houston.

Peterson was indicted on a felony count of reckless or negligent injury to a child for hitting his young son with a switch in 2014. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for reckless assault, avoiding serving jail time.

Peterson is a 4-time All-Pro, 2012 NFL MVP, and 7-time Pro Bowler, who spent ten seasons (2007-16) with the Minnesota Vikings, where he led the NFL in rushing three times including rushing for 2,097 yards in 2012.

Peterson ran for the Washington Redskins in 2018 and 2019, leading them in rushing both seasons, including 1,042 yards in 2018.  That season, Peterson accomplished a 90-yard touchdown run in a road game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Before coming to Washington, Peterson split time with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals during the 20017 season.

The former Oklahoma Sooner running back ran for the Detroit Lions in 2020 gaining 604 yards.

In the 2021 season, Peterson appeared in one game for the Seattle Seahawks and three games for the Tennessee Titans.

Former 49ers LB Reuben Foster working out for Jets

The Jets are looking at Reuben Foster. The ex-49er has been arrested for domestic violence in the past & hasn’t played since 2018 due to knee surgery.

The Jets are working out Reuben Foster on Thursday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The 31st overall pick by the 49ers in 2017 – the first year Robert Saleh coached in San Francisco – Foster only played in 16 games over two seasons from 2017-2018. The linebacker was suspended, faced legal trouble and dealt with a serious injury.

Foster received a two-game suspension in 2018 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy over a weapons offense and a misdemeanor drug offense. The 49ers released him on Nov. 25, 2018, after his second suspicion of domestic violence arrest in one year.

Foster’s first suspicion of domestic violence arrest came on Feb. 11, 2018, following an incident with his girlfriend. The woman eventually recanted her original accusations. Foster was arrested again on domestic violence suspicion nine months later on Nov. 24, 2018, which prompted the 49ers to release him immediately.

The Washington Football team claimed Foster three days after his arrest despite the NFL putting him on the commissioner’s exempt list. Charges were eventually dropped by the State Attorney’s Office in Florida in January 2019. Foster was taken off the commissioner’s exempt list in April.

Foster never suited up for Washington, though. He tore his ACL during his first practice with the team and missed the rest of the 2019 season. Foster didn’t play in 2020, either, while he continued to rehab from his knee injury and the subsequent surgery.

He has totaled just 101 tackles in 890 snaps over two seasons.

Smith was originally selected by the 49ers with the No. 7 overall selection in the 2011 NFL draft. He played four seasons in San Francisco before legal and substance abuse issues eventually led to his release.

The All-Pro pass rusher then spent a number of years out of the league while suspended but made his return last season in Dallas following reinstatement. For the Cowboys in 2020, Smith tallied starting 5.0 sacks, 48 tackles and a team-high 14 quarterback hits in 16 games played.
