Top 105 2021 NFL Draft Prospects

The Dolphins set the foundation for the future with the 2020 draft – getting a little something out of all seven of their picks before the fifth-plus rounders – but it’s all about whether or not Tua Tagovailoa can go from promising to stardom.

He went one pick before Justin Herbert, but he was also a rookie coming off a major injury. There needed to be patience – the 2020 draft was about building for 2022 – and there still does, but everything about this draft loaded with picks has to be about helping him get there faster.

There’s a chance to trade down if a quarterback someone likes falls to the six, or they can take a top receiver talent to be the No. 1 guy. That’s always tricky – drafting wide receivers high is very, very flaky – but they’ll have their choice of Alabama receivers or LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase.

The 18 is the more interesting call. They need a pass rusher, and a few will be there, but they also need big bodies to keep Tagovailoa from getting popped. They’re in a terrific spot with both first round picks, and they’re going to be major players with five of the first 81 selections.

Ian Rapoport’s report about the Dolphins may be bad news for the Bucs

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Miami Dolphins may be looking to move up in the first round to take an offensive tackle.

The NFL draft is tomorrow night, meaning after months and months of speculation and mock drafts, we’ll finally know where this year’s crop of talent will land.

The general consensus is that the Cincinnati Bengals will use the top pick to take LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow could be one of several QBs taken in the top 10 if mock drafts are to be believed, with Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa being the others. Many people believed the Miami Dolphins, who hold the fifth overall pick, would try and snag one of those two to be their new franchise quarterback

But this latest report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport suggests the Dolphins may not go quarterback at all in round one, which could be bad news for the Buccaneers.

Take a look.

The Bucs have been projected to take an offensive tackle with the 14th pick ever since they landed Tom Brady in free agency. With Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills, Mekhi Becton and Andrew Thomas seen as the top tackles available, this potential move by Miami could force the Bucs to move up to ensure they don’t miss out. Remember, the New York Giants, who hold the fourth pick, are also in the market for O-line help.

Finding protection for Brady is the Bucs’ priority entering the draft, but they may have to pay a price to get it.

Georgia football RB D’Andre Swift to meet with two AFC East teams at NFL Combine

Georgia football RB D’Andre Swift is scheduled to meet with two AFC East teams at the NFL Combine.

Georgia running back D’Andre Swift is viewed as a first round pick in April’s NFL Draft.

He’ll likely be the first running back taken off the board, and there’s two AFC East teams that he is scheduled to meet with this week – the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins hold both the 18th and 26th pick in the draft with the Bills having the 22nd pick.

If Swift does go at 18, 22 or 26, he would be the highest taken running back out of Georgia since Gurley went No. 10 in 2015.

Sony Michel went 31st to New England in 2018 and Nick Chubb went 35th to the Browns.

But Swift has been viewed as a higher draft choice thanks in large part to his versatility.

In terms of what a guy can do with the ball in his hands, there’s nobody who has a wider range of skill than Swift.

Not only can he run you over, but he can blow past you with his speed and he has one of the nastiest arsenals of jukes, spins and cuts that you’ll see from a college running back.

But what really sets him apart is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and make things happen. It’s something that Georgia fans may not be too familiar with — and that’s not because Swift could not do it, but because the coaches would not cut #7 loose and let him.

“There are a lot of great backs in this class, but I think I’m the most versatile,” Swift said during his interview session on Wednesday.

“I think I’m a three-down back, and I can do whatever I’m asked to do. God gave me a lot of ability. I don’t take that for granted. I work hard every day, and I’m a leader.”

If Swift does go to the AFC East, that would put him, Chubb and Michel in the same conference. Furthermore, it would place Michel and Swift in the same division, meaning there would be at least two Michel/Swift battles annually.

The NFL Draft begins April 23rd.
