Draymond Green reacts to D.K. Metcalf’s incredible chase down tackle during Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Following D.K. Metcalf’s chase down tackle against Budda Baker to save a touchdown for the Seahawks, Draymond Green chimed in on Twitter.

Following an exciting slate of NFL action, the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals squared off for week seven’s primetime matchup on Sunday Night Football.

During the divisional battle, MVP front runner Russell Wilson was able to push the Seahawks to an early 13-7 lead. However, the All-Pro quarterback made a rare mistake in the second quarter. With Seattle in the red zone, Wilson threw into the hands of Arizona’s Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker.

As Baker broke in the opposite direction, the Seahawks’ 6-foot-4, 240 lb wide receiver began to sprint to chase down the Cardinals’ safety turned ball carrier. In an incredible effort, D.K. Metcalf showed off his blazing speed to catch Baker on the two-yard line.

According to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Metcalf traveled 114 yards. During his sprint to catch Baker, the 22-year-old wide receiver reached a max speed of 22.64 MPH.

Via @NextGenStats on Twitter:

Metcalf’s touchdown-saving tackle got the attention of the Golden State Warriors former Defensive Player of the Year. On Twitter, Draymond Green had a shoutout for the Seahawks pass catcher.

Via @Money23Green on Twitter:

Despite Baker’s interception setting up the Cardinals on the two-yard line, Kyler Murray’s offense failed to score, keeping the game at 13-7.

However, back and forth scores from both the Seahawks and Cardinals, the Sunday Night Football game was pushed into overtime with the game tied at 34.

Following another interception from Wilson in overtime, the Cardinals were able to complete their wild comeback, 37-34, with a field goal on the game’s final play from Zane Gonzalez.

While the Cardinals will head on a bye week, the Seahawks will play host to the Golden State Warriors San Francisco neighbor in week 8. The San Francisco 49ers and Seahawks are slated to kick off next Sunday at 1:25 P.M. PST.

Watch: DK Metcalf chases Budda Baker down to save a pick-six

Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf is unusually fast for his size. How fast? Just ask Cardinals safety Budda Baker.

It’s highly unusual when Russell Wilson throws an interception. Coming into Sunday night’s game against the Cardinals, he’d only thrown three all season. But he threw one to Arizona safety Budda Baker — the reigning NFC Defensive Player of the Week — with 9:05 left in the first half, and it looked to all the world that Baker was on his way to a pick-six that would have traveled nearly 100 yards, .

And then, Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf, at 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds, chased Baker down out of nowhere, and tackled the 5-foot-10, 195-pound Baker at the Seattle eight-yard line.

Perhaps it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise — Metcalf blew up the 2019 scouting combine by running a 4.33 40-yard dash, while Baker ran a 4.45 at the 2017 combine.

This was more than just a splash play — it would have been an easy touchdown were it not for Metcalf’s effort, but the Seahawks’ defense stopped the Cardinals from scoring any points on the subsequent drive, and the score remained 13-7.

Watch: DK Metcalf runs down Budda Baker after 90-yard interception return

Budda Baker was caught from behind by DK Metcalf after a 90-yard interception return

Russell Wilson had the Seattle Seahawks positioned to go in for a score in the second quarter Sunday at Arizona.

The Seahawks’ QB looked for another TD pass and found Budda Baker of the Cardinals, unfortunately.

The Cardinals’ DB picked off the pass and took off. He was running down the sidelines, going 90 yards in all befoe DK Metcalf, who never gave up on the play, ran down Baker. And we mean ran down in a full sprint.

Metcalf’s play was huge as Arizona failed to score on the ensuing drive and turned the ball over on downs to Seattle.

Wilson and a pick near the goal line. Sound familiar?

QUARTERBACKS

RUSSELL WILSON, SEA

$8,000 DRAFTKINGS, $8,700 FANDUEL

This will be a pretty easy write up. Russell Wilson is very good at football and that in turn reflects a very good daily fantasy football play. The man is on his way to being crowned the MVP and is averaging a whopping 31.9 DraftKings points per game. Pair that with a high paced matchup versus the Arizona Cardinals with Vegas setting the total at 56 and we should be in a great spot for another 30+ point performance for Russell Wilson. If you would like to pivot off this game get some shares of Aaron Rodgers in a bounce back spot versus the Houston Texans. I love the thought of rostering Rodgers after he was embarrassed by the Buccaneer defense.

KYLER MURRAY, ARI

$7,100 DRAFTKINGS, $8,400 FANDUEL

With this being the second highest scoring game of the slate, give me the arm and legs of Kyler Murray. The man has 10 passing touchdowns and 6 rushing touchdowns, which is more than most running backs in the league right now. The rushing upside and floor Murray provides is second only to Lamar Jackson. This matchup is the best on the board and Seattle is ranked 32nd against opposing quarterbacks, allowing 371 passing yards per game. This game has game stack written all over it.

RUNNING BACKS

AARON JONES, GB

$7,200 DRAFTKINGS, $8,500 FANDUEL

This matchup is a juicy one and I love this game as another game stack right up there with the Arizona vs. Seattle game. The Texans have one of the worst overall defenses in the league and are terrible at defending the run. They rank 27th against opposing running backs and are allowing a league worst 177 rushing yards per game on the season. Aaron Jones doesn’t have a ceiling as we have seen games where he has 3 touchdowns this season and dropped 48.6 DraftKings points. I’m not saying he will do that again but he certainly does have the proper matchup to do so. He is getting the touches every week and is always involved in the passing game as well. Lock Aaron Jones up in cash games and your tournament lineups.

KAREEM HUNT, CLE

$6,800 DRAFTKINGS, $7,100 FANDUEL

Kareem Hunt is currently carrying the questionable tag while I’m writing this on Thursday morning, but this was a similar situation last week as well. As long as he logs a practice some time to finish off this week he should smash in week 7. The Bengals allow 142 rushing yards per game and rank 27th in the league at defending running backs through 6 weeks. Since Chubb has been injured we haven’t seen that monster game out of Hunt yet, which should keep his ownership down and I think this is the week to pounce on him. The play is strong on both sites but given the PPR upside on DraftKings I like him better there. Alvin Kamara is another great play if you can afford him and feel free to take some shots on Chris Carson, Antonio Gibson, and Justin Jackson in tournaments.

WIDE RECEIVERS

DEANDRE HOPKINS, ARI

$8,200 DRAFTKINGS, $9,000 FANDUEL

Week 6 got away from the Cardinals passing game real quick as they took a huge lead early and really had no need to pass the ball in the second half because they had a very comfortable lead against Andy Dalton and the Cowboys. It was his Hopkins’ first mediocre performance of the season and I think he gets right back to his elite level this week in a dream matchup versus the Seahawks.

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks will put up points and if all goes as planned the Cardinals should be trailing in this game giving a bump to the passing game. The Seahawks are league worst at giving up points to the wide receiver position and are allowing 371 passing yards per game. A elite wide receiver going into an elite matchup should make Hopkins a lock in your cash games and single entry tournaments.

DK METCALF, SEA

$7,200 DRAFTKINGS, $7,300 FANDUEL

As I stated above, I love this Arizona vs Seattle game and I will be stacking it several different ways. Metcalf has emerged as the #1 receiver in this offense and the numbers can back it up. He is averaging 21.3 DraftKings points per game and his lowest output game of the season was a 92 yard receiving game, which is pretty darn impressive if you ask me. This Arizona pass defense is good, but I think Russell Wilson is better and he will find ways to get Metcalf the ball in Week 7. In lineups that you are not running it back with the Seattle passing game load up on Chris Carson as a strong pivot.

TIGHT ENDS

TJ HOCKENSON, DET

$5,000 DRAFTKINGS, $5,900 FANDUEL

The Atlanta defense is still one of the worst in the league and my write up will never be complete without targeting their defense. Hockenson has been consistently good but not great. I like consistency when drafting tight ends because the last thing you want is to finish your day with 0-2 points from the position. In Hockenson’s worst game this season he finished with 9.3 DraftKings points which is a nice floor for a tight end, and he has the upside to breakout for 20 in this matchup. The Falcons rank 28th against opposing tight ends and are allowing 337 passing yards through the first 6 weeks. I like the pairing of Stafford to Hockenson in a game stack running it back with some Falcon receivers or playing Hockenson by himself as a one off.

ROBERT TONYAN, GB

$4,600 DRAFTKINGS, $6,000 FANDUEL

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers got embarrassed in Week 6 by the Buccaneers and I love this spot for the entire Packers offense. The Texans are bad at defending the tight end and are ranked 27th through 6 weeks. Tonyan had an ankle injury that briefly forced him out of the game versus the Bucs so keep an eye out for practice reports but he came back in and finished the game so I’m assuming he will be fine. We want exposure to this game and this offense. If you can’t find a way to get Rodgers, Jones, or Adams then Tonyan is your guy at a fair price on both sites.

DEFENSES

BUFFALO BILLS

$4,700 DRAFTKINGS, $5,000 FANDUEL

There will be a simple rule moving forward for the rest of the year. Whenever you can afford to play the Defense versus the New York Jets you do so. This is one of the worst offenses ever assembled and when you pair that with the leadership from Adam Gase you truly can’t go wrong in targeting them. The Jets are almost league worst in every offensive category and just got shut out by the Dolphins. If you got the salary leftover please play the Bills coming off a tough game versus the Chiefs.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

$2,800 DRAFTKINGS, $4,700 FANDUEL

We will need to get some salary relief in order to pay up for some key offensive players and I think the Browns provide the best option versus the Bengals. They haven’t been great by any means but at $2,800 on DraftKings I will take a couple shots. On FanDuel just pay the extra $300 and play it safe with the Bills. We are hoping for a couple of sacks and if we get lucky maybe a pick 6 thrown by Joe Burrow who has thrown an interception in each of his last 3 games.

Why Russell Wilson continues to recruit Antonio Brown to Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson continues to recruit Antonio Brown to the team despite the wide receiver’s many issues.

Russell Wilson has been recruiting free-agent wide receiver Antonio Brown to the Seahawks despite his well-documented flaws, destructive tendencies, and legal issues over the past few years.

On Thursday, Wilson expressed his belief that after spending over a year away from football and talking with him, Brown has learned from his past mistakes and his ego has been taken down a notch.

“The reality about Antonio’s is he’s one of the best players to ever play this game,’’ Wilson told reporters Thursday. “I think that he’s always been a special player in terms of the field, I think. And you know the reality is, with Antonio he’s had some tough moments in his life, especially as of late, and I think he’s gone through a lot of things that he wishes he could take back and not do and not say. ”

Wilson stated that the Seahawks’ culture is devoted to helping players recover from their issues and that he and his teammates would treat Brown like any other player if the organization acquired him.

“I think with Coach Carroll, I think with the teammates that we have, the men that we have and the growth, I think if he does play football, I think this is a great place if he does play again,” he said. “I think this is a place where he’ll grow a lot as a man too, as well. And I think that we’re going to continue to try to help anybody who walks in this locker room as you guys know.

“That’s just part of our culture is trying to help people.”

While Wilson may have good intentions and Brown has put up some incredible numbers throughout his career, Seattle is already loaded with ideal targets, most prominently Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Greg Olsen and Chris Carson have also been reliable in the passing game and Will Dissly and Freddie Swain have had a few good moments themselves this year.

Furthermore, it must be noted that Brown’s controversial incidents and allegations are many in number and quite serious.

Just something(s) to think about.

Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf knows he’s among best in NFL

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf scored the winning touchdown for the team Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings Week 5.

There is no denying Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had himself quite the game Sunday night, scoring the winning touchdown to help the team advance to a perfect 5-0 season start for the first time in franchise history.

On the night, Metcalf was the Seahawks leading receiver, logging six receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns. But does he feel like he stacks up with some of the best of the best around the league?

“It’s a blessing to be in a category like that or for that question to even pop up,” Metcalf said after the win. “In my mind, I feel like I’m getting to that point. There are still people in this league that I look up to like Deandre Hopkins, Julio Jones, Mike Thomas, Odell Beckham Jr. They’re still great players in this league. Just to be up there with them, I know my work ethic and how I am as a player.

“I believe I’m in that realm, but I’ve still got a lot of work to do.”

Metcalf’s play is certainly not fool-proof, as anyone who’s witnessed his drops can attest, but the sophomore is well on his way to being one of the most impressive receivers in the NFL this year, and hopefully, for years to come.

Seahawks advance to 5-0 start for 1st time in franchise history

After beating the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night, the Seattle Seahawks have advanced to a 5-0 start for the first time in franchise history.

The Seattle Seahawks notched another one for the history books Sunday night when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 27-26 to advance to a 5-0 start to the season for the first time in franchise history.

Seattle was shut out 13-0 by Minnesota in the first half but rallied for the win on the national stage. Quarterback Russell Wilson and the Seahawks offense put on a magic show in the final minutes of the game to win it all with just seconds left on the clock.

“We just believed that if we got the ball back, something great was going to happen and we just said that on the sideline – stay neutral, and keep believing,” Wilson told NBC’s Michele Tafoya after the win. “We made a crucial catch by D.K. on fourth down, what an unbelievable catch. We went up and down the field there, and we had a couple chances to score early on, but it actually worked out better that we scored on the last play there on fourth down.

“It’s always a heavyweight fight.”

The Seahawks now enter their bye next week undefeated and have earned themselves some much-needed rest and relaxation after the victory.

Russell Wilson to DK Metcalf keeps the Seahawks perfect

Russell Wilson saved the Seahawks with a TD pass to DK Metcalf on fourth-and-goal.

The Seattle Seahawks had their hands full with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.

Mike Zimmer’s Purple People were large and in charge. And then Seattle erupted for 21 points in less than two minutes.

Still, Minnesota had the lead at 26-21 late and decided to pass on a field-goal attempt that would have made it an eight-point game.

The fourth-down play was stopped and Russell Wilson had the ball, a timeout, and 94 yards to go.

No problem.

Wilson found DK Metcalf on a fourth-and-goal in the waning seconds and the Seahawks had a 27-26 victory.

Wow.

The pair also connected on a previous fourth-and-10 on the drive.

WATCH: Russell Wilson finds DK Metcalf for the score and the lead

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson finds wide receiver DK Metcalf for the score and the lead Sunday night against the Vikings.

The Seattle Seahawks were trailing the Minnesota Vikings miserably entering the second half Sunday night, shutout to the tune of 13-0.

It wasn’t until quarterback Russell Wilson connected with tight end Will Dissly then wide receiver DK Metcalf that Seattle was able to notch its first lead of the day.

Wilson found Dissly first, then it was Metcalf’s time to shine. Wilson and the Seahawks struck quickly on their second scoring drive which resulted in a 13-yard touchdown pass to Metcalf.

With the extra point, Seattle took the 14-13 edge over the Vikings midway through the third quarter.

Here’s a look at the go-ahead play.
