Fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em: Week 10

Here’s a look at some start/sit decisions for fantasy football in Week 10.

Following the Thursday night matchup, it’s now time for fantasy football managers to go into the weekend staring at their lineups contemplating their start/sit decisions.

Teams on a bye in Week 10 include the New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots.

Doing start/sit articles can be a little challenging. The players featured on the list below should not be taken as “must starts” or “must sits.” Instead, these are more suggestions on what we believe managers should do with fringe players heading into the weekend. The choice is ultimately up to the manager.

Just because a player is listed as a “start” doesn’t mean he should be put in the lineup over the secure, bona fide studs. Vice versa for the “sits.” If there’s no better option on the waiver wire or the bench, a manager shouldn’t automatically sit the player. That’s why these can be tricky waters to navigate.

Prince’s NFL Player Props: DeAndre Hopkins, Jaylen Waddle and more Week 8 prop picks

NFL Week 8 player prop bets.

We finally did it! For once, we hit .500 on our prop picks.

Laugh all you want, but this is a moment I’m going to enjoy, because woof. It’s been a rough season through seven weeks for your boy.

But as we approach Week 8, dare I say momentum is on my side? In a week I declined any quarterback props, I nailed my picks for Tyler Boyd, Robert Woods and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Now, we’re bringing the QBs back into the fold with the big Giants-Seahawks battle taking center stage, though I still leaned heavily into the receiving yards market.

Week 7: 3-3

2022 record: 13-28

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are making a habit of making breathtaking endings to games.

But this time, the Bills took the 24-20 win with a big closing minutes stand.

The Bills offense had to work through some challenges that the Chiefs threw at them. Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo blitzed extensively throughout the game, putting Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen under duress often in the first half. Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey adjusted play calls, getting the ball out of Allen’s hands quicker and creating more pre-snap motion to hold the Chiefs from putting so much on Allen.

On the flip side, the Bills defense came in with a strong game plan to contain Patrick Mahomes. While the Bills limited some of the Mahomes magic, the All-Pro quarterback still put forth indefensible plays. Mahomes went 25-of-40 for 338 passing yards, and two touchdowns.

However, the biggest victory for the Bills was the two picks that the unit forced. Kaiir Elam and Taron Johnson recorded interceptions that stopped the Chiefs offense in its tracks.

Elam’s interception denied a possible seven points on the board in the end zone, while Johnson intercepted a pass with just over a minute left in the game to effectively end the contest. In both cases, Buffalo’s defensive line put pressure on Mahomes and forced him out of his comfort zone.

The D-line contained Mahomes well, keeping him from breaking the pocket on a consistent basis. On a few occasions, the added time allowed Mahomes to make some perfect passes. Even so, as Buffalo coaches Sean McDermott and Lesie Frazier were playing chess all afternoon against the Chiefs offense and Mahomes, the Bills found a way to win in the long run.

Von Miller recorded two sacks and forced Mahomes to throw a split-second quicker than anticipated. The Bills recorded nine quarterback hits. While the team gave up over 300 passing yards, Buffalo’s secondary did enough to prevent giving up the big play.

Allen matched Mahomes step-for-step, and eventually, passed by him. Allen ended the day 27-of-40 for 327 passing yards and three touchdown passes. All afternoon, Allen made accurate passes. In addition, Allen ran the ball 12 times for 35 yards.

The run game got a boost from running back Devin Singletary, who found space throughout the game. Singletary averaged five yards per carry on 17 carries. The Bills offensive line won the point of attack through the run game.

Several Bills had great games in the passing attack. Stefon Diggs picked apart the Chiefs secondary, catching 10 passes for 148 passing yards and one touchdown. Gabe Davis added three catches for 74 passing yards and a touchdown reception, while Dawson Knox caught three passes for 37 receiving yards and a touchdown.

While the game might not have been the thriller as previous Bills-Chiefs matchups, it did live up to the hype as a competitive game between two teams that are on a collision course to see each other once again in the playoffs.

This time, though, Buffalo has the tie-breaker over Kansas City going forward with Sunday’s victory.

Buffalo (5-1) enters this bye week with a convincing win. The Bills return to action on Oct. 30 against Green Bay at Highmark Stadium.

Bills’ Devin Singletary pulls back curtain on final seconds vs. Ravens

While it might not have seemed it, #Bills RB Devin Singletary was integral for his team in the final seconds vs the #Ravens:

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary got off to a shaky start during Week 5’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, which included a fumble.

Yet he would bounce back to be a significant contributor on offense, including one pivotal play in a contest where the Bills would also comeback to win.

“That’s always tough when you have a mistake like that, but my guys were behind me,” Singletary via the Buffalo News. “We kept rallying. We knew that wasn’t us in the first half, and all we were preaching is to come out and be us in the second half and we were able to do that and get the win. All you can do is keep going and take it play-by-play. Execution fuels the team, and that brings energy, and we were able to get that going.”

Head coach Sean McDermott allowed QB Josh Allen to lead the offense in clock and game management on what would prove to be the teams game-winning drive.

While in the huddle Allen reminded Singletary to get down before the goal line, Baltimore could let him score a touchdown to give themselves a shot at a kickoff return and another offensive possession. The Bills RB did just that, allowing Allen to take two kneel-downs and Tyler Bass a game-winning field goal in the final seconds.

McDermott was impressed by the overall play of the running back in the victory.

“Very impressed. Not surprised. He does a great job resetting and sticking with it,” McDermott said to the media. “Really good football player, great intangibles and we’re happy to have him.”

“I can’t rave enough about what he is, who he is, and what he does for this team,” Allen said to the media after the game. “I urge everybody that’s watching football, if you’re a young kid, if you’re in college, whatever, you turn on Devin Singletary tape and you watch him, how he sprints to the ball, whether he’s got it or not. He’s downfield picking guys up, he’s doing everything right in practice. He’s running 50-60 yards, getting in the end zone and coming right back and running another play. The dude, all he knows is work and that’s why his name is ‘Motor’ and he lives up to the name. I can go on and on about what’s type of person he is. I freaking love the kid.”

Bills center Mitch Morse also heaped praise on Singletary and his work ethic as well.

“He’s a professional,” Morse said to the press. “Really takes pride in his work, pride in what he does for this offense and we love him for it. He’s been doing it at a high level for a very long time. It seems like when we need those big moments, he’s one of those guys that steps in.”

After the game, Singletary noted how the team practices final-play situations.

“We kept preaching to each other, ‘Let’s be us, take it play and play, and let’s try to execute,” the RB added. “When we were able to execute, you can see the energy in the game. To come out on the winning side, it feels great, and it shows that we are continuing to grow.”
