Perfect early/late-round LB fits for Eagles in 2022 NFL Draft

Looking at the perfect early/late-round LINEBACKER fits for the Philadelphia #Eagles in 2022 #NFLDraft

As the Eagles get set to start preparing for their Week 15 matchup against Washington, all eyes are starting to turn towards the NFL draft, where Philadelphia will likely control the board with 3 first-round picks.

The Eagles haven’t drafted a linebacker in the first round since the late 70s, but 2022 could provide the ultimate opportunity for Howie Roseman to finally land a game-changer in the first or second round.

Regardless of what round Philadelphia strikes, there will be plenty of big-time linebackers on the board for the Eagles to target.

Giants select Devin Lloyd, Tyler Linderbaum in latest Draft Wire mock

In the latest mock from Draft Wire, the New York Giants select LB Devin Lloyd and OL Tyler Linderbaum in Round 1.

The New York Giants currently hold the No. 6 and No. 7 overall picks in the 2022 NFL draft. By the time April rolls around, those picks could be even higher based on the current trajectory of things.

But who will be making those picks for the Giants? A new general manager seems like a foregone conclusion. And what about quarterback Daniel Jones? Will they stick with him?

Several questions must be answered in the coming months but one thing will remain absolutely certain: No matter what happens, the Giants will have to address their offensive line, edge rush and linebacker situations this offseason.

With that in mind Luke Easterling of Draft Wire had the Giants addressing two of those positions in his latest mock draft.

With pick No. 6 overall, Big Blue selects Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd.

This defensive line is stellar, but the second level could use some help. Linebackers with the kind of size, athleticism and instincts that Lloyd brings to the table don’t come around every draft class, so the Giants would be wise to snatch him up here.

With the very next pick, the Giants select a familiar name in Iowa offensive lineman Tyler Linderbaum.

Much like the Jets, the Giants follow up a defensive playmaker with a stud blocker on offense. It’s rare to see a center prospect worthy of top-10 consideration, but Linderbaum is absolutely that level of player. This offensive line desperately needs a tone-setter like him.

These back-to-back picks would go a long way in helping the Giants on both sides of the ball, but it doesn’t fix their issues along the edge or at right tackle. Arguably, those are two more pressing concerns. Still, Lloyd and Linderbaum are talented players who could start on Day 1. It would be hard to get mad at that.

WATCH: Utah LB Devin Lloyd grabs pick-6 in Pac-12 title game

Watch Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd show off his big-play ability with a pick-six in Friday night’s Pac-12 title game vs. Oregon

If you’re not on the Devin Lloyd hype train, there’s still time to climb aboard.

Utah’s star linebacker has been one of the nation’s best defenders all season long, and he’s keeping up his play-making ways in Friday night’s Pac-12 title game against Oregon.

Lloyd showed off his instincts and ball skills in the first quarter, jumping in front of an Anthony Brown pass over the middle and racing 34 yards the other way for the touchdown.

Don’t be surprised if Lloyd ends up being a top-10 pick in the 2022 NFL draft, and the first player off the board at his position.

3-round 2022 NFL mock draft for Denver Broncos

Draft Wire’s latest three-round NFL mock draft has the Broncos going LB, QB, OT, OT, DL in 2022.

In his latest three-round 2022 NFL mock draft for Draft Wire, Luke Easterling has the Denver Broncos selecting a quarterback, just not in the first round.

Easterling’s mock predicts the Broncos will select Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd with the 14th overall pick. Given that Alexander Johnson, Josey Jewell and Kenny Young are all scheduled to become free agents in 2022, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Denver target a linebacker in the draft. If they do it in the first round, though, the Broncos might miss out on a lot of QB prospects.

Wake Forest’s Sam Hartman (No. 9) was the only quarterback who went off the board before Denver’s first pick in Draft Wire’s mock draft. Mississippi’s Matt Corral (No. 19), Pitt’s Kenny Pickett (No. 25), Liberty’s Malik Willis (No. 27), North Carolina’s Sam Howell (No. 34) and Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder (No. 45) are then picked before the Broncos go back on the clock in the second round.

Easterling has Denver then landing Nevada QB Carson Strong with the 48th overall pick. He’s the seventh QB selected in Draft Wire’s mock.

After that, the Broncos land UCLA offensive tackle Sean Rhyan (No. 59), Washington State offensive tackle Abraham Lucas (No. 79) and Clemson defensive lineman Tyler Davis (No. 91) with their remaining picks.

Patriots land perfect Dont’a Hightower successor in ESPN’s 2022 mock draft

This linebacker is an absolutely ideal fit for the Patriots.

There’s a linebacker in the 2022 NFL draft who appears to be a perfect fit for the New England Patriots, according to ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid.

It’s Utah’s Devin Lloyd.

He’s the player that Reid pegged as a future Patriot in a 2022 NFL mock draft on ESPN. It’s mighty early to be making declarative statements about the NFL draft. Even in April, predictions are practically impossible. But there’s a lot to like about Lloyd, particularly as it pertains to taking a versatile defender like him and putting him into a multiple defense like the one in New England. Reid even tweeted it was “easily one of my favorite fits.

From ESPN:

“After the trade of Stephon Gilmore, cornerback and linebacker are likely the two biggest holes for New England entering the 2022 offseason. Lloyd is a versatile second-level defender who could provide value in multiple areas, and the Patriots don’t have high-end options after Dont’a Hightower. Lloyd, who has 85 tackles, six sacks and three interceptions this season, could excel in a multiple-front defense that involves interchanging parts, and he’ll pick up pressures as a blitzing pass-rusher as well.”

So far in 2021, Lloyd has 85 tackles, six sacks, one forced fumble and two interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. He accepted a Senior Bowl invite, a gesture that seems to impress the Patriots, whose top pick in the last two drafts attended the event.

CBS Sports gives Ravens star LB in latest 2022 mock draft

CBS Sports selected a star linebacker for the Ravens in their latest 2022 NFL mock draft

The Baltimore Ravens have selected countless college prospects who have blossomed into stars at the NFL level. They’ve done a phenomenal job of developing young players into key contributors, and have seen many of their draft picks play at a high level early in their careers.

In his latest 2022 NFL mock draft, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports made picks for each selection of the first round. For the Ravens at pick No. 28, he gave the team a star linebacker in Devin Lloyd out of the University of Utah. When explaining his choice, Trappaso mentioned that he would be a chess piece for Baltimore defensive coordinator Don Martindale.

“The Ravens add a tall, rangy linebacker to their disruptive defense. He’ll be a movable chess piece for Wink Martindale.”

Lloyd stands around 6-foot-3 and weighs around 235 pounds, boasting an impressive physical frame. He has good speed, can take on blocks relatively well and can cover well due to his ability to be fluid with his movements. While he does need to improve on not over-pursuing and overrunning plays, he plays very fast, much like current Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen.

It would be interesting to see how Martindale and the rest of the Baltimore coaching staff would incorporate a player like Lloyd into their defense. He would mark the second inside linebacker taken in the first round in three drafts for the Ravens, with Queen being the first.
