Broncos’ depth chart for Week 4 road game vs. Jets

Here’s a look at the Broncos’ updated depth chart for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

After making several roster moves last week, the Denver Broncos have released an updated depth chart for their Week 4 showdown with the New York Jets on Sunday.

The Broncos placed linebacker Alex Singleton (ACL) on injured reserve last Wednesday. They filled his former roster spot by promoting running back Tyler Badie from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Badie becomes the team’s new third-string running back.

Singleton’s replacement remains to be seen. By simply removing Singleton from the depth chart, Justin Strnad is listed as the next man up, but it’s unclear if he will start against the Jets.

Note that NFL teams can also call up two players from the practice squad to the game-day roster each week. This week, Denver elevated

Broncos vs. Jets: 5 things to watch for in Week 4

Here are five things we’ll be keeping an eye on when the Broncos face the Jets on Sunday.

The Denver Broncos (1-2) are on the road this week for a showdown with the New York Jets (2-1) in New Jersey. Here’s a quick list of five things to watch for during Sunday’s game.

1. Replacing Alex Singleton: After losing Singleton to a season-ending ACL injury, Denver needs “the next man up” to fill some big shoes. It remains to be seen who that next man up will be. The active-roster candidates are Justin Strnad and Kristian Welch. The Broncos also have Levelle Bailey, Kwon Alexander and Zach Cunningham available on the practice squad. Can the defense continue playing at a high level without Singleton?

2. Tyler Badie and the RB rotation: Badie has easily been Denver’s most explosive running back this season. Will he get more opportunities against the Jets? Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin aren’t going anywhere, but the Broncos might give Badie more carries in Week 4.

3. Denver’s defense against Aaron Rodgers and Co.: The Broncos’ defense is off to a great start this season, but Rodgers is a much bigger test than Baker Mayfield. And if Denver’s squad has a weakness, it’s defending the run. New York has one of the NFL’s best running backs in Breece Hall, and rookie Braelon Allen is also a dangerous playmaker. The Broncos will need a big performance from the defense if they’re going to upset the Jets.

4. Devaughn Vele and the WR rotation: After leading the team with eight catches in Week 1, Vele injured his ribs and sat out Week 2, then he wasn’t quite up to speed in time to play again in Week 3. Vele should be good to go this week, so who will be inactive in the WR room? Troy Franklin could be the odd man out behind Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Vele and Marvin Mims.

5. Was last week a fluke? Denver’s first three opponents are 8-1 combined through three games, so there’s hope that the Broncos are a better team than what they looked like in the first two weeks of the season. Denver’s offense looked much better against Tampa Bay and quarterback Bo Nix appeared to take a big step forward, but the Bucs’ defense is not nearly as formidable as the Seattle or Pittsburgh squads. The Jets, meanwhile, rank eighth in points allowed this season (17.3 PPG) and seventh in yards allowed (280 YPG). Sunday will be a good test to gauge if the Broncos are the real deal or if last week’s win over Tampa Bay was overblown.

Sunday’s game will be regionally televised on CBS (view the TV map). New York is considered a home favorite against Denver this week.

Broncos release depth chart for Week 4 vs. Jets

The Broncos have released their depth chart ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jets.

After making several roster moves last week, the Denver Broncos have released an updated depth chart ahead of their Week 4 showdown with the New York Jets on Sunday.

Last week, the Broncos placed right tackle Mike McGlinchey (MCL) and outside linebacker Baron Browning (foot) on injured reserve, ruling them out for at least four games.

To fill the roster spots formerly held by McGlinchey and Browning, Denver promoted pass rusher Dondrea Tillman and wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad to the active roster.

Note that the team can also call up two players from the practice squad to the game-day roster each week. We’ll find out on Saturday if the Broncos plan to elevate any players in Week 4.

8 players did not play in Broncos’ game vs. Buccaneers

Eight Broncos players did not play against the Bucs, including rookie RB Blake Watson, who has been inactive for all three games this fall.

Eight members of the 53-man roster did not play in the Denver Broncos’ 26-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, safety JL Skinner, wide receiver Devaughn Vele, running back Blake Watson, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, tight end Lucas Krull and defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike were inactive in Week 3.

Skinner was ruled out with an ankle injury and Vele is still getting back up to speed after suffering a ribs injury in Week 1. The five other inactive players were healthy scratches on Sunday.

Despite being inactive, Wilson still dressed as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback. Bo Nix played every snap on offense, so primary backup Jarrett Stidham also did not play, giving Denver eight total players who did not see the field against the Buccaneers.

Broncos rookie running back Blake Watson has been inactive for all three games this season. Tyler Badie was elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster on Sunday and he impressed. We might see Badie eventually fully promoted to the active roster if he keeps playing well.

Broncos inactives: Devaughn Vele won’t play vs. Bucs

Broncos inactives today: Zach Wilson*, Devaughn Vele, JL Skinner, Blake Watson, Kris Abrams-Draine, Lucas Krull and Eyioma Uwazurike.

The Denver Broncos have announced their list of seven inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson*, safety JL Skinner (ankle), wide receiver Devaughn Vele (ribs), running back Blake Watson, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, tight end Lucas Krull and defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike are inactive today.

*Technically, Wilson is still available to play as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback behind starter Bo Nix and primary backup Jarrett Stidham, but he’s on the inactive list and does not count against the game-day roster.

With the exception of Wilson, these inactive players are members of the 53-man roster who are not eligible to play against the Bucs. They will be reactivated on Monday.

Elsewhere on the roster front, Denver elevated running back Tyler Badie and defensive back Tanner McCalister from the practice squad to the game-day roster on Saturday.

The Broncos’ game against the Buccaneers will be regionally televised on Fox. Denver is considered a road underdog in Week 3.

Broncos injury news: Baron Browning ruled out for Week 3

Broncos OLB Baron Browning (foot) and DB JL Skinner (ankle) have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

The Denver Broncos have ruled out outside linebacker Baron Browning (foot) for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he missed all three days of practice this week.

Jonah Elliss and Nik Bonitto are the next men up at pass rusher following Browning’s injury. One of them will start across from Jonathon Cooper in Week 3, and Dondrea Tillman was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster this week to provide more depth at the position.

Elsewhere on the injury front, safety JL Skinner (ankle) has also been ruled out. Keidron Smith could be the next man up to replace Skinner on special teams.

Meanwhile, safety Brandon Jones (foot) and defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers (concussion) have been cleared to play.

Broncos injuries: Baron Browning trending toward not playing

Broncos OLB Baron Browning (foot) missed practice again on Thursday, putting his status in doubt for Sunday’s game against the Bucs.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Baron Browning (foot) did not practice again on Thursday after previously missing Wednesday’s session. The 25-year-old pass rusher appears to be trending toward not playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.

Denver added more depth at outside linebacker this week by promoting Dondrea Tillman to the active roster and signing Andrew Farmer to the practice squad, perhaps early signs that Browning’s status was in doubt.

Elsewhere on the injury front, safety JL Skinner (ankle) was also held out Thursday while safety Brandon Jones (foot) and defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers (concussion) returned on a limited basis.

Broncos injuries: Baron Browning did not practice Wednesday

Broncos OLB Baron Browning (foot) did not practice Wednesday, and the team added depth at his position this week.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Baron Browning (foot) was among four players held out of Wednesday’s practice.

Also sidelined were safety Brandon Jones (foot), defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers (concussion) and safety JL Skinner (ankle).

Franklin-Myers has a “50-50” chance of playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week after suffering a “mild concussion” in Week 2, according to the Denver Gazette‘s Chris Tomasson. Eyioma Uwazurike is listed behind JFM on the depth chart, but Jordan Jackson and Malcolm Roach would be more likely candidates to fill in if needed.

The Broncos promoted outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman to the active roster and signed Andrew Farmer to the practice squad on Wednesday, moves that might signal Browning’s status for Week 3 is in doubt.
