2026 4-star RB Westlake Village (CA) has placed Texas A&M in his Top 12

Texas A&M is an initial finalist for one of the top running back prospects in the 2026 recruiting class

With new offensive coordinator Collin Klein bringing his expertise to the playbook, and the recruiting trail, Texas A&M’s offensive future is in good hands for years to come.

This summer, the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting class continued to grow. The 2026 cycle is still in its beginning stages. Still, it could see several commitments in the coming months, especially with Klein’s influence ahead of Texas A&M’s 2024 season, which will also serve as head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural campaign.

This week, one of the top running backs in the 2026 class included the Aggies in his Top 12 program list, as 4-star RB Deshonee Redeaux is down to USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

On the field, Redeaux has been compared to Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs for his impressive footwork, vision, and agility once he makes the first defender miss. Redeaux has run for 939 yards and eight touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Four-star running back names Ohio State in top schools

Four-star running back names Ohio State in top schools #GoBucks

Ohio State football has been dominating the recruiting trail when is comes to the class of 2025, but the coaching staff is still searching for juice within the 2026 class. Deshonne Redeaux is a four-star running back from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, California.

Although Redeaux has yet to make a visit to Columbus, running back coach, Carlos Locklyn, seems enamored with the speedster as he previously offered Redeaux during his tenure at Oregon, and sent another offer as soon as he started for the Buckeyes.

The consensus top 100 player in the class has narrowed down his list to 12 schools which includes new conference members, UCLA and USC, as well as Ohio State. Most expect the star recruit to stay in his home state, but we will see what happens after he visits Columbus.

Ohio State football offers California 2026 athlete

The Buckeyes are going hard after 2026 running backs. #GoBucks

It looks like new Ohio State football running backs coach Carlos Locklyn is trying to make his mark on the recruiting trail.

Two different offers went out to 2026 running backs on Tuesday, with Jonathan Hatton Jr. getting the first, and [autotag]Deshonne Redeaux[/autotag] being the second. The California native stands 5-foot, 10-inches and weighs 180-pounds, and has an impressive offer list to back up his ranking.

The 247Sports Composite Rankings have Redeaux as the No. 3 back in the country and 51st overall prospect in the nation, but could also end up on the other side of the ball. Like Hatton Jr., Locklyn had been recruiting Redeaux while at Oregon, which obviously gives them a previous relationship.

The difference between the two is the Redeaux isn’t committed, so he may be the easier target to eventually land with the Buckeyes.

Notre Dame football offers 2026 California running back

The Irish offer one of the nations best 2026 backs

The offers are still flowing from Notre Dame football, after getting the ball rolling this past weekend during the “Pot of Gold Day.”

California running back [autotag]Deshonne Redeaux[/autotag] had to wait a few extra days, but received an Irish offer. The 5-foot, 10-inch and 180-pound ball carrier is ranked as one of the top players in the country at No. 49 overall and the 5th running back according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Redeaux’s early offer list is extremely impressive, as Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, USC and others have already offered prior to Notre Dame joining the picture. The Irish have a long history of recruiting the state of California, so they are now in the fight for the backs commitment.
