Philadelphia carried five wide receivers on the initial 53-man roster for 2021, and with J.J. Arcega-Whiteside switching to tight end, the numbers could look similar in 2022.

The Eagles acquired A.J. Brown from the Titans in a blockbuster draft night trade, and also signed Zach Pascal away from the Colts in free agency.

The team currently has 12 wide receivers on the 90-man roster and that number will be reduced drastically by Week one of the regular season.

The Eagles signed wide receiver Devon Allen, a 27-year-old former Oregon Ducks pass catcher who’s now most famous for his prowess as one of the world’s top hurdlers.

Allen is a three-time National Champion in the 110-meter hurdles and a two-time Olympian, Allen impressed scouts after he worked out at Oregon’s Pro Day. Allen visited the Eagles this past Thursday and he’s now a potential hidden gem on offense and the return game.

Even with the Allen and Zach Pascal’s addition this spring, Philadelphia’s depth chart is still missing a big, physical wide receiver that can win battles in the red zone.

A former Clemson wide receiver has signed with a new NFL team.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday they have signed Deon Cain to their practice squad.

Cain was waived/injured by the Baltimore Ravens in August after suffering a head injury in the team’s preseason finale against Washington.

A 2018 sixth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, Cain has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in six games with the Steelers in 2019 after playing in seven games with the Colts that year, when he totaled a combined nine catches for 124 yards.

Cain had 130 receptions for 2,040 yards and 20 touchdowns over 42 games (14 starts) in his career at Clemson from 2015-17.
