It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report.

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

The latest on David Ojiegebe

The Clemson Insider spoke with St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) four-star edge rusher David Ojiegbe over the phone Monday, shortly after he announced via social media that he will be making his commitment next Wednesday, April 27.

Ojiegbe indicated that everything’s going pretty well as he gets close to making his decision. He told us he’s currently focused on schools like Clemson, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Michigan, Maryland and LSU.

There was a lot of buzz coming out of the Orange & White Spring Game regarding Ojiegebe and from what we gathered and reported in last week’s edition of the Insider Report, Ojiegbe’s latest visit to Clemson went very well, and Ojiegbe himself told us that he enjoyed his time while on campus for the game.

“The visit was pretty good,” Ojiegbe said. “I got to talk with Coach Dabo a little bit more and talk with him on a personal level. He was just telling me, just know that my offer is committable and just emphasizing how big of a role I’d play, and just how they want me. It was a good conversation with him and Coach Lemanski (Hall).”

There’s a plan in place for Ojiegbe to play early at Clemson, which will definitely be a factor in his decision come next Wednesday. When it comes time for Ojiegbe to make his decision, what are going to be some of the more important factors he’s looking for?

“Just being developed as a player and as a man,” Ojiegbe said, “and just what can they do for me after football? Because football’s gonna be over (for me) soon. It’s not that long, the average span of an NFL player or a college football player. I just want to make sure that I’ll be straight after football and have a platform to make money and become a better man, and actually, just have a good major too, so I can sustain myself for the rest of my life.”

An update on Creed Whittemore

Prior to this week’s edition of the Insider Report, TCI spoke with Creed Whittemore, an athlete out of F.W. Bucholz (Gainesville, Fla.), who was recently named a four-star prospect by 247Sports.

Whittemore has been keeping in contact with Clemson ahead of the start of his high school’s spring practice, as wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham will make his way down to the Sunshine State at some point in the near future to watch Whittemore — a high school quarterback — run routes.

“It’s still been kind of the same thing,” Whittemore said regarding what he’s been hearing from Clemson lately. “Just been communicating with Coach Grisham and they’ll be here for spring (practice), which is in about a week, so just getting ready for that.”

How has his relationship developed with Grisham since they first got in contact?

“I think, obviously, he’s a man of his word,” he said of Grisham. “He’s not gonna right you wrong or lead you down the wrong path, which I respect for sure as a college coach because it is sort of a business for them. That’s their job. You can definitely respect the way he handles recruiting and just how hard it is to be straight up with kids and I think he does a great job of that.”

Grisham isn’t the only coach stopping by Bucholz to watch Whittemore run routes. Stanford’s offensive coordinator, Tavita Pritchard, will be there on Thursday, as well as all the schools that have offered Whittemore and the University of Alabama.

Every time we speak with Whittemore, he seems to add another offer to his collection. Since visiting for Clemson’s second junior day of the year on March 5, he’s picked up offers from Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, Penn State and was re-offered by the new coaching staff at the University of Florida.

“You can’t lie, it’s always a blessing,” Whittemore said, “and just a little encouragement when you get an offer. It’s just a way to keep encouraging yourself.”

Big-time in-state OL updates recruitment, interest from Clemson

Dorman High School (Roebuck, S.C.)’s D.J. Geth – a 6-foot-6, 310-pound junior in the 2023 class – was on Clemson’s campus for an unofficial visit on April 4.

While he was originally supposed to make it back for Clemson’s Orange & White Spring Game five days later, that never was able to materialize. In any event, Geth was able to recap his time at Clemson in an interview with TCI.

“My visit to Clemson was good,” Geth said. “I went to the spring practice and saw how intense and organized their practice is.”

Geth is teammates at Dorman with fellow class of 2023 offensive lineman Markee Anderson, who received an offer from Clemson last September, and the two are good friends.

Though the Tigers haven’t yet offered Geth, he is garnering interest from Thomas Austin and has been communicating with Clemson’s new offensive line coach.

Geth, who plays tackle at Dorman, intrigues Austin and the Tigers with his ability to man multiple positions on the O-line and his potential as a center.

What was Geth able to hear from the coaching staff when he was back on campus?

“I heard that they really like what they see from me and that they are looking forward to continuing this process with me,” he said.

In Geth’s eyes, his connection and his relationship with Clemson almost certainly became stronger thanks to this month’s visit. Geth, who competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer, also visited Clemson for the UConn game last November.

He’s the son of Ed Geth, who played basketball at North Carolina and was a member of the Tar Heels’ 1993 national championship team.

A top Clemson target in the 2023 class has set his commitment date.

St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) High School four-star edge rusher David Ojiegbe announced via social media Monday that he will announce his commitment on Wednesday, April 27.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior is ranked as high as the No. 18 edge defender and No. 162 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports.

Ojiegbe was in attendance for the Orange & White Spring Game on April 9 and he also visited Clemson for the program’s second junior day of the year in early March, when he scored an offer from the Tigers.

Ojiegbe – who goes to the same high school that Clemson redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Tre Williams attended – explained to The Clemson Insider recently why he is so high on Clemson.

“Just the family environment and just how it’s a small school and (defensive ends) coach Lemanski (Hall) is a players’ coach,” Ojiegbe said. “I’ve been talking to Coach Wes too and he’s been giving me good vibes, talking about the scheme and everything. He’s a very down-to-earth guy, I like how he coaches. He seems like a player-coach also. I also have my boy down there, Tré Williams, I have a good relationship with him, so I definitely feel like I’d be at home down there. I liked it a lot. I liked Coach Dabo.”

Ojiegbe is in the process of narrowing down his recruitment and told us he’s currently focused on schools like Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Michigan, Maryland and LSU, in addition to Clemson.

The Insider Report: Latest on Vizzina, nation’s No. 1 LB, Klubnik’s former teammate & more

It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report. We hope everyone had a great weekend. Top QB target set to make monumental decision Tuesday On the eve of a monumental announcement for Clemson’s top quarterback prospect in the 2023 …

It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report.

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

Top QB target set to make monumental decision Tuesday

On the eve of a monumental announcement for Clemson’s top quarterback prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, The Clemson Insider is calling for Tuesday to be a sunny day in Tiger Town.

Briarwood Christian (Ala.) four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina announced Sunday that he will be announcing his college decision come Tuesday afternoon. The talented signal-caller is ready to announce his decision, as he will choose between Clemson, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Auburn, Ohio State and Georgia.

We have gathered enough information to make our sunny forecast for Vizzina, who made two visits to Clemson this past week.

After reaching the Elite 11 finals with his performance at Carrollton High School on Sunday, April 3, Vizzina made his way down to Clemson, where he took in spring practice that following Monday.

Clemson checked all the boxes for Vizzina again, but he wanted to head home to Birmingham and digest the visit before making any potential decision. While he indicated to us that he didn’t know when his next trip to Clemson would be, he made an unannounced visit for the team’s Orange & White Spring Game on Saturday, April 9.

Now that Vizzina is ready to announce his decision, we know that those two visits definitely played a big factor in his decision-making.

Remember, we have long-maintained that Vizzina was and has been the top quarterback on Clemson’s board for quite some time now. While the particular session of Dabo Swinney Camp wasn’t open to the media, we’ve long been told that Vizzina went toe-to-toe with Arch Manning in a “throw-off.”

Both Swinney and Brandon Streeter let Vizzina know that day that he had moved up in their respective class of 2023 quarterbacks rankings and was a top-five guy for them both.

While Clemson only offered the five-star quarterback out of Isidore Newman (New Orleans, La.) that day, Vizzina’s performance, his undeniable moxie and the way he carries himself made a lasting impression on the Tigers.

So much so that Swinney decided to pull the trigger on an offer for Vizzina, even when they still were very much involved in the Manning sweepstakes. Mutual interest between the two sides has since waned and Vizzina quickly and not so quietly became Clemson’s main and only focus.

Every time he meets with Clemson’s head coach there’s not only a big emphasis on Vizzina being “his guy,” but that he’s a “perfect fit” for the Tigers as well.

We have long identified Vizzina as an option for Clemson, even dating back to when he held a handful of Power Five offers from schools like Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan State and Mississippi State.

His trajectory from camp star to top target didn’t happen overnight, but between him being in attendance for Clemon’s season-opener against Georgia in Charlotte and Streeter making consistent visits to Briarwood, it was only a matter of time before he was realized as one of Clemson’s top options.

Clemson was one of the first schools to show interest in Vizzina and it was because of his left tackle, who is now at Clemson, Trent Howard.

In a conversation with TCI in February, Briarwood head coach Matthew Forester recalled back in 2020 during the shutdown when he was at home and former Clemson defensive tackles coach and recruiting coordinator Todd Bates called. Bates asked Forester to tell him about his quarterback.

After Tuesday, the rest will likely be history.

The latest on 4-star WR, Klubnik’s teammate

Following Saturday’s Orange & White spring game, TCI spoke to Westlake (Texas) 2023 four-star wide receiver Jaden Greathouse, who made his way to Clemson for his first-ever campus visit.

Greathouse is the former high school teammate of Clemson freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik.

“It was great to spend time with all the coaches,” Greathouse said. “I got to view campus and all that. I got to hang out with Cade a little bit too. I got to have a private meeting with Coach (Tyler Grisham) afterward. I was there pretty late around 8ish. We were just talking and all that stuff. They didn’t offer me and they want me to come back up in the summer.”

Before his visit, according to Greathouse, Clemson told him that they don’t offer until you come up and see campus. He was kind of expecting to get an offer once he got up there. Greathouse said he “probably will” get back up to Clemson this summer.

“(Coach Grisham) told me that he wanted to offer me, but Coach Swinney told him to wait because they want to see me run routes for them before,” he said.

Greathouse still needs to take a couple of visits and see where he is in his recruitment before he gets back to Clemson. Though, he said if the timing works, he’ll “definitely” aim to get back up to Clemson again and keep working on that.

Update on the nation’s top-ranked LB

The nation’s No. 1 linebacker in the 2024 class returned to Clemson for another visit last week.

Jefferson (Ga.) High School five-star Sammy Brown was back on campus last Wednesday to take in the Tigers’ final spring practice before Saturday’s spring game. It marked his second trip to Tiger Town in as many months as he was also on campus March 12, when he became the first class of 2024 prospect to receive an offer from the Tigers.

TCI caught up with the 6-foot-2, 220-pound rising junior following his latest visit to Clemson.

“We got there just in time for team meetings and then watched their practice. Afterwards we went and ate dinner with Coach Goodwin (defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Wes Goodwin),” Brown told The Clemson Insider. “It was an overall great visit. The practice was more preparation for the spring game than anything, so it was a really chill day. Great to catch up with Coach Goodwin and others.”

Brown said the main message he took away from his conversations with Goodwin and Dabo Swinney is that the Tigers remain really interested in him but want him to take his time as he goes through the recruiting process and enjoy seeing different schools. They also told him to just keep working in high school and stay focused on that for the time being.

Before visiting Clemson on Wednesday, Brown went to Georgia the prior weekend to watch its scrimmage and also visited Alabama last Monday, when he picked up an offer from the Crimson Tide. Following the Clemson visit, he traveled to Oklahoma on Friday and said he might make it to Ohio State but is still figuring that out.

As for when he will be back at Clemson, Brown – who has been camping at Clemson since he was 10 years old – said he will try to participate in the Swinney Camp again this June and possibly even get back on campus before then.

The plan for Brown, he said, is to probably have a top-five schools list sometime during his junior year and then make his commitment sometime after that.

“As of right now still just taking everything in,” Brown said of the recruiting process. “We wanna be able to see as much as possible before we make a decision so we know that we’re making the best decision.”

Brown is considered a five-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, which ranks him as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 9 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class.

Clemson in a great spot with top DE target

Among the headlining visitors on hand for Saturday’s spring game was David Ojiegbe, a four-star defensive end in the 2023 class from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C.

From what we have gathered, Ojiegbe’s visit to Clemson on Saturday went very well, and Ojiegbe himself told us that he enjoyed his time while on campus for the game.

If you saw TCI’s story on Ojiegbe entering the spring game visit, you know that the Tigers were already, in his words, “definitely at the top” of his list going in, and we believe Saturday’s visit only strengthened Clemson’s standing with him.

Ojiegbe also visited Clemson for the program’s second junior day of the year in early March, when he scored an offer from the Tigers. He is ranked as high as the No. 18 edge defender and No. 162 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports.

Ojiegbe – who goes to the same high school that Clemson redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Tre Williams attended – explained to TCI recently why he is so high on Clemson.

Update on 4-star Texas TE Reid Mikeska

We wanted to give an update on a four-star class of 2023 tight end from the Lone Star State who was slated to attend Clemson’s spring game but couldn’t end up making the trip.

Bridgeland (Texas) High School’s Reid Mikeska was supposed to be at the spring game, but his flight got canceled.

TCI learned through a source that Clemson felt good about its chances with him heading into the planned visit. The source was unsure whether the visit would lead to a commitment from Mikeska, but the Tigers felt good about their chances with him, especially since he already considered Clemson one of his top schools coming off his visit for Clemson’s “spring elite day” on March 5, when the Tigers offered him.

“Easily one of my top schools, for sure,” Mikeska said to TCI after the visit. “They definitely helped themselves with this visit. They were already one of my top schools without offering me and I saw the campus and they offered. So, that moves them up even higher.”

Mikeska dropped his top-12 schools list on March 27, and included Clemson, of course, along with Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Texas Tech, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida.

Clemson ‘at the top’ for dynamic pass-rusher entering spring game visit

The Clemson Insider recently spoke with a dynamic pass-rusher ahead of his return visit to Clemson this weekend.

St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) High School four-star David Ojiegbe announced earlier this week at he will be at Clemson’s Spring Game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 9.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior in the class of 2023 gave the latest on his recruitment ahead of an important recruiting trip this weekend.

Ojiegebe said that he’s just been hearing good things from Clemson, which has since made him a priority in the 2023 recruiting class since he visited for the program’s second junior day of the year.

“I’m narrowing down my schools right now,” he said. “Clemson is definitely at the top of my list.”

Ojiegbe said that he’s currently focused on schools like Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Michigan, Maryland and LSU, in addition to Clemson. He later indicated that he’ll “definitely” end up taking an official visit to Clemson when it’s all said and done.

We made sure to ask Ojiegbe to expound on why Clemson is currently a top school in his recruitment.

“Just the family environment and just how it’s a small school and Coach Lemanski is a player’s coach,” Ojiegbe said.

Williams has been telling Ojiegbe the benefits of P.A.W. Journey and how you get developed as a man down at Clemson. Because of their close relationship, Williams’ word means a lot to Ojiegbe.

Speaking of relationships, how has Ojiegbe’s developed with Clemson’s defensive ends coach and defensive coordinator?

“It’s going pretty good,” he said. “Just been talking to them some more on a day-to-day basis, finding out how they’re coaching and the scheme and everything.”

According to Ojiegbe, the Tigers have told him that they would utilize him as an every-down defensive end and versatile pass rusher

Ojiegbe is ranked as high as the No. 18 edge defender and No. 162 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports.

4-star D.C. edge rusher with connection to Tigers dishes on Clemson offer

Things have come full circle for David Ojiegbe.

The four-star edge rusher out of St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) High School announced an offer from Clemson, while he was on campus for the Tigers’ Elite Visit Day on Saturday.

“It means a lot,” Ojiegbe told The Clemson Insider. “It feels pretty good that they think I’m part of the guys that can play there. It felt pretty good getting that offer.

“They showed me great hospitality and they showed me a great time. I definitely appreciate the offer. I appreciate Coach Dabo Swinney talking to me, talking to my uncle, talking to my uncle, It definitely felt great.”

Ojiegbe had a sense that it was coming, but he just wanted it to be finalized. Lemanski Hall sealed the deal when he offered him in person.

“I met Coach Dabo and I met Coach Wesley (Goodwin), so it was definitely a good experience,” he said. “Definitely saw them practice, got a feel for the coaching staff, got a feel for the vibe at Clemson and it definitely felt good. I liked it a lot.”

Clemson was already in good standing with Ojiegbe before Clemson’s defensive ends coach presented him with a scholarship Saturday. With that being said, where do the Tigers stand in his recruitment, now that he has an offer in hand?

“They still stand pretty high, definitely,” he said.

In his conversation with Clemson’s defensive ends coach Saturday, Ojiegbe had a chance to pick his brain and get some good knowledge from him. He talked with Hall about his coaching style, what he expects, the transition from high school to college and what else Ojiegbe can work on going forward.

“I definitely like his coaching style,” Ojiegbe said of Hall. “He’s a player’s coach and he’s just for the players too. He just knows his players and cares about his players. I definitely like his style.

Clemson’s practices are similar to what Ojiegbe says he does at St. John’s, so feels like he’d fit in pretty well. Having the opportunity to see Xavier Thomas and KJ Henry up close and personal at practice made him appreciate their games even more.

Ojiedge concluded that being able to watch Clemson’s practice was the highlight of his campus visit, in addition to hearing Swinney’s presentation, which lasted over two hours. All of the prospects on campus were really engaged and locked in the entire time he was talking.

“Just him being real with us and telling us everything about his program,” Ojiegbe said. “Him speaking about his life definitely had a big impact on me and just being as genuine as possible. It was a cool experience and I liked what I heard. Everything he said was very real. It felt very genuine and it sounded like everything came from the heart.”

Ojiegebe’s connection to the program is that he’s a former teammate of Clemson redshirt sophomore tackle Tré Williams, with whom he has a close relationship. He had the chance to catch up and check in with Williams, who he hasn’t talked to in a while. Williams, of course, isn’t currently practicing right now, as he recovers from multiple offseason surgeries.

“He was there when I got offered,” Ojiegbe said of his former high school teammate. “He was definitely excited.”

4-star edge rusher with Clemson connection receives offer from Tigers

Clemson extended an offer Saturday to a four-star edge rusher who was on campus for the Tigers’ junior day.

St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) defensive end David Ojiegbe announced the offer from the Tigers via Twitter on Saturday night.

Ojiegbe (6-4, 245) is ranked as high as the No. 18 edge defender and No. 162 overall prospect in the 2023 class by 247Sports.

Ojiegbe is a former teammate of Clemson redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Tre Williams, with whom he has a close relationship and talked about Clemson with prior to Saturday’s junior day visit.

“He was talking about how good it is, the culture and how he likes it,” Ojiegbe told The Clemson Insider last month. “He said it’s very good down there and you’re gonna be pushed. So, it sounds pretty good to me. I’m just definitely waiting to see when I get down there. I like what he was telling me, though.”

In his conversations with Lemanski Hall, Clemson’s defensive ends coach has compared Ojiegbe to a current Tiger pass rusher in Xavier Thomas.

“I definitely like the way that he plays,” Ojiegbe said. “He’s very aggressive, very physical and very nasty. I like his get off the ball, he’s a big guy, but he’s moving. I look at him like, ‘He can go.’”

Ojiegbe saw his recruitment pick up during January, as he added offers from Kansas, Morgan State, Duke, UConn, Georgia Tech, NC State, Toledo, Marshall, North Carolina and was re-offered by the new staff at Miami.

This past season, Ojiegbe helped St. John’s capture a championship, while leading them to an 11-0 record. He led the WCAC with 17.5 sacks and was named first-team All-Met. He didn’t get to break the sack record his junior year, but he’s looking to surpass the league record of 19.5 sacks in his senior campaign.

Clemson is set to host a slew of top prospects today for its second junior day of the year, which the Tigers are dubbing their “spring elite day” for recruits in the class of 2023.

Among the headliners expected to be in attendance is Central (Phenix City, Ala.) five-star A.J. Harris, the nation’s No. 2 cornerback and No. 17 overall prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has made multiple trips to Tiger Town and is a priority target for the Tigers. Last September, he released a top seven comprised of Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio State.

Harris will be joined on campus by a host of other talented defensive backs, including Harris’ teammate at Central, cornerback Quintavious Billingsley; Lake Mary (Fla.) four-star cornerback Braedan Marshall; Eagles Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Ga.) three-star cornerback Colton Hood; Daniel (Central, S.C.) cornerback Misun Kelley; North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) cornerback Khalil Barnes; Loachapoka (Auburn, Ala.) cornerback Jacorious Hart; Milton (Alpharetta, Ga.) three-star safety Robert Billings; and A.C. Reynolds (Asheville, N.C.) safety Dashawn Stone.

Another headliner slated to be on hand for the spring elite day is Oceanside Collegiate Academy (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) four-star offensive lineman Monroe Freeling.

It will mark his first visit to Clemson since attending the Florida State game in late October of last year. He was also on campus last June to participate in the Dabo Swinney Camp, after which he picked up an offer from the Tigers.

Freeling said during a recent interview with The Clemson Insider that the Tigers “stand highly” in his recruitment heading into today’s visit.

“I really loved the culture there when I first went up and I’ve been maintaining a good relationship with (offensive line) coach (Thomas) Austin,” he said, “and I’m just looking forward to growing it some more when I get out there.”

Along with Clemson, which is heavily pursuing Freeling, he named Miami and Notre Dame as a couple of schools that have been recruiting him the hardest.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Freeling is the No. 1 prospect in South Carolina, No. 9 offensive tackle nationally and No. 82 overall prospect for the 2023 class.

South Point (Belmont, N.C.) four-star offensive lineman Sullivan Absher will also return to Clemson after picking up an offer from the Tigers in February – an offer that he told TCI he “had been working for, for a very long time.”  He previously traveled to Clemson twice during this past season – first for the Boston College game in October and then for the Wake Forest game in November.

Another big-time offensive lineman will be on campus today as well in Eagles Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Ga.) four-star tackle Zechariah Owens.

As for the defensive linemen expected to be among the junior day visitors, there are several prominent prospects, namely St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) four-star David Ojiegbe, Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, Ala.) four-star Hunter Osborne, Rome (Ga.) four-star Stephiylan Green, Upson-Lee (Thomaston, Ga.) four-star T.J. Searcy and Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) four-star A.J. Hoffler.

A bunch of other standout class of 2023 prospects are on the expected guest list for the spring elite day, as well, including Hickory Ridge (Harrisburg, N.C.) four-star wide receiver Christian Hamilton; Bridgeland (Cypress, Texas) four-star tight end Reid Mikeska; Denmark (Alpharetta, Ga.) four-star linebacker Dee Crayton; Fairfax (Va.) four-star linebacker Tony Rojas; F.W. Buchholz (Gainesville, Fla.) three-star wide receiver Creed Whittemore; Maiden (N.C.) High School three-star wide receiver Chris Culliver; Phoebus (Hampton, Va.) three-star athlete Jordan Bass; Sumter (S.C.) athlete Zyeir Gamble; and Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) running back Jarvis Green.

A few notable 2024 prospects are planning to visit Clemson today, too, in Carrollwood Day (Tampa, Fla.) four-star defensive back Tavoy Feagin, Weddington (Matthews, N.C.) tight end Brooks Mauk and Towers (Decatur, Ga.) wide receiver/cornerback Keshawn Weathers.

Lemanski Hall stopped by the high school of a pass-rusher that he’d previously been in contact with.

Clemson’s defensive ends coach was checking in on St. John’s High School (Washington, D.C.) four-star David Ojiegbe, who recently rekindled his relationship with the Tigers and already has a connection to the program.

Ojiegbe is supposed to be in attendance for Clemson’s Elite Prospect Day on Saturday, March 5.

“I’m definitely excited to come down to Clemson and see how it is,” he said. “I’m excited to see how it is and see how the culture is down there.”

Ojiegbe is also excited to see his former teammate, Clemson defensive tackle Tré “Groovy” Williams, with who he has a close relationship. With that being said, what has Williams told him about Clemson?

“He was talking about how good it is, the culture and how he likes it,” Ojiegbe said. “He said it’s very good down there and you’re gonna be pushed. So, it sounds pretty good to me. I’m just definitely waiting to see when I get down there. I like what he was telling me, though.”

As for his relationship with Hall, Ojiegbe is starting to build a bond. They first got in contact when he was a sophomore, but their conversations were few and far between. Now, their relationship is growing as they’ve been able to talk with each other more often.

In his conversations with Hall, Clemson’s defensive ends coach has compared Ojiegbe to a current Tiger in Xavier Thomas.

“I definitely like the way that he plays,” Ojiegbe said. “He’s very aggressive, very physical and very nasty. I like his get off the ball, he’s a big guy, but he’s moving. I look at him like ‘He can go.'”

Ojiegbe (6-4, 245) saw his recruitment pick up during January, as he added offers from Kansas, Morgan State, Duke, UConn, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Toledo, Marshall, North Carolina and was re-offered by the new staff at the University of Miami. He’s also added offers from Jackson State and Akron this month.

“It definitely feels surreal, it doesn’t even feel real,” Ojiegbe said regarding his recruitment taking off. “It feels good that (my hard work) is paying off, but it also makes me want to grind harder because I know there’s more to get. I haven’t reached anything yet. I still have to go to college and produce. So, I definitely still want to grind harder and I can always achieve more.”

Ojiegbe already listed plenty of offers before the start of 2022. Now, the nation’s No. 20 ranked edge rusher per the 247Sports Composite, has nearly 30 scholarship offers in hand.

Though he didn’t take visits last month, in addition to Clemson, he plans on visiting UNC, South Carolina and Oregon in March. As far as his recruitment is concerned, Ojiegbe is in an evaluation mode. He wants to go on these visits and see where he’s at. Right now, his goal is to commit prior to the start of his senior season, in either June or July.

“So these next visits I take, just evaluating the schools, evaluating where I fit in the scheme, how the coaches like me, our relationship and how they talk to me really, is gonna be a big factor,” he said.
