Virginia Tech won out over 28 other teams that made offers, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon and Tennessee. Belfort told On3’s Chad Simmons that it felt like the place to be during his first visit.

“From the first time I stepped on campus there, it felt different, I was there for the first time in November and I find of knew then. It just felt like the place for me. God told me that was the place… What really set Virginia Tech apart was the family vibe, I don’t know how else to describe what it is like up there. I just clicked with the coaches and the players right away and it was easy. That family vibe is what put them over the top.”

In 19 career high school games, he’s totaled 3,772 yards, throwing 33 touchdown passes, 12 interceptions and has a QB rate of 112.1. He’s added another 587 yards and eight touchdowns on 95 carries as a rusher.

Belfort (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) is ranked No. 27 among quarterbacks in his class and No. 65 overall in the state of Florida.

National Signing Day has passed, officially closing the door on the 2023 recruiting cycle. Now, it is time for everyone to shift their focus to the 2024 recruiting class.

A goal every team should have is landing a quarterback early in the cycle to help recruit the rest of the class over the remainder of the cycle.

Michigan State has done a good job recruiting quarterbacks in recent memory, landing 4-star Katin Houser in 2022 and 4-star Sam Leavitt in 2023, and they will look to do more of the same in 2024.

Check out the potential options Michigan State could end up with at quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class:

Gators make top 7 for this 2024 QB target

The Florida Gators made the cut on Saturday when four-star quarterback Davi Belfort narrowed things down to a top seven.

The Florida Gators have made the cut for Gulliver Prep (Miami, Florida) quarterback [autotag]Davi Belfort[/autotag].

He narrowed things down to a top seven on Saturday and included Florida on the list along with Alabama, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Belfort has visited Florida three times this year, most recently on Sept. 3 for the season opener against Utah.

Over the summer, Florida head coach Billy Napier hit it off with Belfort’s father, MMA legend Vito Belfort, and invited the family back to see more of the school. UF is the current leader on the On3 recruiting prediction machine with 26.5% chance to land Belfort, but there’s still well over a year left in the process before a decision has to be made

Still, Belfort narrowing things down at this point indicates that he could end up making a decision before his senior year.

At this point, all seven schools are still in the race. Belfort admitted that he wanted to make it a five-school list, but he also said he could see himself playing at each of the three schools.

Rivals is the only recruiting service that currently ranks Belfort as a four-star prospect. Both 247Sports and On3 agree that he’s a three-star caliber quarterback, but that could have something to do with his age. Belfort reclassified this year, moving his recruiting timeline up by a full season.

Priority QB target to visit Florida for LSU game

Florida will play host to several elite recruits over the weekend, and five-star quarterback DJ Lagway has locked in his trip to the Swamp.

The Florida Gators last played host to 2024 five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] when they took on the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 2. He enjoyed himself on that visit and should be back in the Swamp on Saturday, Oct. 15, for Florida’s matchup with LSU, according to a report from 247Sports.

Lagway included the Gators in his top 10 back in September and appears to favor the university, although he’s not saying which programs are at the top of his list yet. Still, Florida appears to be in a good spot, and Lagway enjoyed the trip to Gainesville a lot.

“It’s real high,” he said of his interest in UF. “As a kid growing up, (Florida) was always my dream school. It was a dream come true to come to a game. It was awesome and amazing.”

This will be Lagway’s fourth trip to Florida, but Texas A&M leads the way with 10 visits from the in-state quarterback. It’ll take a consistent effort to get Lagway out of Texas, but he’s a player the Florida staff thinks is worth it. There’s a bit of Anthony Richardson in Lagway’s game and the staff isn’t afraid to make that comparison.

Lagway might be the top guy on Florida’s list at quarterback in the class of 2024, with [autotag]Davi Belfort[/autotag] also in the mix. If this trip goes well, there’s a good chance Florida earns one of Lagway’s five official visits in the spring. He’s currently ranked No. 30 overall on the 247Sports composite and No. 5 among quarterbacks in the class.

Florida to host 2024 4-star QB for season opener against Utah

The Gators will have one of their quarterback targets from the class of 2024 in town on Saturday for the season opener.

September 1 marks the first day college coaches can officially contact recruits from the class of 2024, and one of the top names on Florida’s list is Gulliver Prep quarterback [autotag]Davi Belfort[/autotag].

The Gators reached out to Belfort immediately, and he returned the love with more than just a tweet (below). The high school junior will be in Gainesville on Saturday for Florida’s season opener against Utah, according to Swamp247.

Belfort has already been to UF twice this year, but experiencing the Swamp on game day will give him a real taste of what playing his college years at Florida would be like. He’ll be back for the LSU game in October as well.

Although he hasn’t officially named a list of top schools, it’s clear that Florida is in good standing with Belfort. Head coach Billy Napier seems to have taken a personal interest in his recruitment, and On3’s recruiting prediction matchine currently favors the Gators to earn his commitment.

Belfort reclassified from the class of 2025 to the class of 2024 over the summer, bumping his recruiting process by a whole year. He also transferred twice from Cardinal Newman to Dillard and then to Gulliver Prep. He’s on a mission to make a name for himself, and it’s worked well so far.

The 247Sports composite has Belfort ranked No. 266 overall and No. 20 among quarterbacks. Rivals’ four-star designation and 142nd overall placement are the reason for that, though. Belfort is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports’ individual rankings, and fails to rank nationally at No. 36 among quarterbacks.
