Jayden Daniels gets some help in the new Daniel Jeremiah mock draft

Jayden Daniels gets some much-needed help in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft.

The offensive line was one of Washington’s most significant concerns heading into the offseason last year. General manager Adam Peters agreed, signing two new starters on the first day of free agency.

Still, fans wondered, “Who would play left tackle?”

Peters addressed left tackle in the 2024 NFL draft, choosing TCU offensive lineman Brandon Coleman in the third round. Coleman rotated with veteran Cornelius Lucas early in the season before taking over and starting 12 games.

Washington’s offensive line surprised everyone in 2024. However, throughout the second half of the season, outside of quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders struggled to run the ball. And in the NFC championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Coleman struggled with Philly’s speed off the edge.

So, while the offensive line took a big step forward in 2024, there is more work to do. In his first mock draft for 2025, Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network has Washington selecting Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons with the No. 29 overall pick.

The Commanders’ offensive line has played well above expectations, but I think they need to upgrade the talent to protect Jayden Daniels going forward.

Simmons, 22, spent his first two seasons at San Diego State before transferring to Ohio State ahead of the 2023 season. He started every game for the Aztecs as a redshirt freshman in 2022 at right tackle. In 2023, Simmons started 13 games at left tackle and every game in 2024 until an injury prematurely ended his season.

Simmons could allow the Commanders to move Coleman to right tackle — Andrew Wylie is a free agent — or kick him inside. Many teams thought Coleman’s NFL future was guard.

Regardless of their plans for Coleman, the Commanders still need offensive line help and Simmons would be a great place to start.

Daniel Jeremiah gives Saints high-ceiling pass rusher in first 2025 mock

NFL Media draft expert Daniel Jeremiah linked the New Orleans Saints to Mykel Williams, a high-ceiling pass rusher from an SEC powerhouse:

The New Orleans Saints have invested a lot into the defensive line in recent years, but have not gotten much in return. This upcoming draft will be yet another chance for them to finally hit a home run with a pass rusher.

NFL.com draft expert Daniel Jeremiah expects them to dip back into that well, at least. In his first mock draft of the 2025 cycle, the Saints selected Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Mykel Williams with the ninth overall pick.

This is what Jeremiah had to say about this selection:

The Saints continue to add young, athletic players to their defensive front. Williams played hurt all season long, but his tools are exceptional.

Some New Orleans fans may be wary about adding a toolsy, injured defensive end and that would be fair. Williams has been a superstar since high school, though, and has a higher ceiling than either Payton Turner or Isaiah Foskey. Taking a risk on him would make the most sense of anyone they’ve drafted on the exterior since Cameron Jordan.

The 20-year-old was able to carve out a role for himself in the Bulldogs defense as a freshman, which is no small task. His role never really grew throughout his time in college though, and the production remained consistent. He had either 4.5 or five sacks in each campaign. There’s a bit of projection here but the traits speak for themselves.

Daniel Jeremiah’s first 2025 NFL mock draft has Broncos picking a DB

The Broncos select safety Nick Emmanwori in Daniel Jeremiah’s first 2025 NFL mock draft.

In his first 2025 NFL mock draft, NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Denver Broncos using their first round pick to select a South Carolina safety.

Jeremiah’s mock draft projects defensive back Nick Emmanwori landing with the Broncos at pick No. 20 in the first round.

“Emmanwori gave me some Derwin James vibes when I studied him,” Jeremiah wrote on NFL.com. “I love his instincts and production.”

Emmanwori totaled 88 tackles, four interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), three tackles behind the line and two pass breakups in 13 games as a junior last fall. Safety is a key position of need for Denver this offseason, so the pick wouldn’t be shocking.

Of note, Jeremiah’s mock has Penn State tight end Tyler Warren going off the board at No. 7 to the New York Jets and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty going to the Dallas Cowboys at pick No. 12.

Jeremiah has the Broncos passing on Michigan tight end Colston Loveland (Los Angeles Chargers at No. 22). He also has Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka falling out of the first round.

The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin from April 24-26. Denver holds seven picks, including selections in the first four rounds.

49ers may go outside the box in Daniel Jeremiah mock draft

Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock has the 49ers snagging an offensive tackle who may move to guard.

It’s well within the realm of possibilities that the San Francisco 49ers would use the No. 11 overall pick in this year’s draft on an offensive lineman.

That’s the exact route they took in a mock draft from NFL Media’s draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah. His selection for San Francisco is a little bit outside the box given his analysis of the pick.

With the 11th pick, Jeremiah sends Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou to San Francisco.

Membou started 30 of the 35 games he played across three seasons for the Tigers. 29 of those starts came at right tackle with the other coming on the left side. Jeremiah doesn’t think the 20-year-old will necessarily stay at tackle in the NFL.

Via NFL.com:

Membou is the most technically sound offensive lineman in this class. He reminds me of Aljah Vera-Tucker when he entered the league. Membou will be an exceptional guard who can also play tackle if needed.

It would be a pretty steep departure from the 49ers’ team-building philosophy if they took a player they think will play guard in the first round.

In 2021 they selected left guard Aaron Banks in the second round, and he didn’t even start until his second season. Then in last year’s draft they took right guard Dominick Puni who stepped in as a starter on Day 1 and had a terrific rookie campaign.

A first-round pick on a guard, especially one as high as No. 11, wouldn’t make a ton of sense for San Francisco. Membou may be very technically sound, but he never played guard in college, and he’d likely have to swap sides of the line to play left guard after playing right tackle for his last 29 college games.

Of course, if the team believes he’s their long-term answer at right tackle, the selection makes more sense. It could provide an upgrade at RT over Colton McKivitz who did make strides last season. It would also be a cheap RT option which may open the door to spending on a left tackle if they need to in the post Trent Williams era.

Given what we know about the 49ers’ team-building philosophy in the past, a defensive lineman would probably be the top option for them at this spot. However, if the front office and coaching staff think Membou is a long-term starter at one of the tackle spots, they likely wouldn’t hesitate to snag him and improve their offensive line. If they don’t project him as an offensive tackle in the NFL, they’re not likely to go that route on Draft Day.

Lions get pass rush help in first mock of season from Daniel Jeremiah

Lions get pass rush help in first mock of season from Daniel Jeremiah with Marshall EDGE Mike Green

Another of the draft kings is on the board with 2025 mock drafts as NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah just released his first set of first-round projections Saturday. Like many other mocks, Jeremiah has the Lions getting help alongside Aidan Hutchinson with the 28th overall pick.

In this mock, the Lions select Marshall Edge Mike Green. Green has plenty of speed off the edge and made a living getting to the quarterback last season, recording 17 sacks, leading the nation.

“It will be huge for the Lions to get Aidan Hutchinson back next season,” wrote Jeremiah. “Green would be a perfect complement with his speed and quickness off the edge. This team values production off the edge and Green had a ton of it during his college career.”

Green had at least one sack in 10 of the 13 games he played this season. He also had four games with multiple sacks, including a three-sack game on November 9 against Southern Miss.

A healthy Hutchinson — 7.5 sacks in five games this season — coupled with the speed of Green and their added depth would go a long way towards getting the Lions back in the game getting after opposing quarterbacks.

Chargers bolster offense in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft

The Chargers get their starting tight end in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft.

One of the Chargers’ priorities this offseason is to add the necessary pieces to put Justin Herbert in a better position to succeed next season.

In NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft, Los Angeles does that with the addition of Michigan tight end Colston Loveland with the No. 22 overall selection.

The Chargers need to give Justin Herbert more firepower. The coaching staff will be extremely familiar with what Loveland brings to the table.

This will continue to be a popular pairing throughout the pre-draft process. But one that makes too much sense.

Los Angeles hasn’t had a reliable pass-catching tight end since Huner Henry, and Loveland is familiar with head coach Jim Harbaugh from their time together at Michigan.

A run-heavy offense and poor quarterback limited Loveland this past season. Still, he has proven himself a reliable receiver, possessing the route-running chops, ball skills and contested catch ability.

Panthers take star WR in Daniel Jeremiah’s initial 2025 NFL mock draft

Another mock draft, another Tetairoa McMillan for the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers, fresh off setting a new NFL record for most points allowed in a season, may be wise to spend their 2025 first-round draft pick on a top defender. But it may not be wise for them to pass up on a potential building block on the other side of the ball.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah pushed out his first 2025 mock draft of the offseason on Saturday. And he, with University of Arizona wideout Tetairoa McMillan still on the board at No. 8, gives the Panthers a No. 1 target in the passing game.

Jeremiah writes:

The Panthers continue to build around Bryce Young with a big, rangy and athletic receiver in McMillan. He’ll be a red-zone menace.

McMillan will be heading into the pros this spring after being named a consensus All-American and a first-team All-Big 12 member for the 2024 season. The 6-foot-5, 212-pounder reeled in 84 catches for a conference-leading 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns.

Steelers land sleeper wide receiver in Daniel Jeremiah’s debut mock draft

Daniel Jeremiah has the Steelers selecting wide receiver Matthew Golden in his new mock draft.

It feels more and more like 2025 will be the last season we see wide receiver George Pickens as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In fact, Pickens might not even make it to the 2025 season if the Steelers chose to trade him away.

Either scenario puts wide receiver as one of the Steelers top needs for the 2025 NFL draft and/or free agency. In NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft of the year, he was looking to the present and the future with the Steelers pick of Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden.

I don’t think the Steelers could go wrong drafting Golden or Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka here. They go with Golden in this case, but they are both professional route runners with outstanding hands and toughness.

Jeremiah’s mock draft really puts the Steelers in a wild spot. Not only is Golden and Emeka Egbuka still on the board but he still has Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden is there as well. This would not only give the Steelers a great shot to land a true No. 1 receiver but could put them in a position to trade back and still land the guy they want.

NFL analyst calls the Commanders the ‘North Star’ of franchise turnarounds

The Commanders are now the model for teams looking to turn things around.

One year ago, the Washington Commanders had just hired general manager Adam Peters. Peters and owner Josh Harris were in the middle of a search for a head coach that would eventually land on Dan Quinn.

Now, the Commanders are heading to Detroit to face the top-seeded Lions in an NFC divisional-round playoff game. This comes after Washington went 12-5 in the regular season, marking an eight-game turnaround from one year ago.

It was a remarkable turnaround. Peters flipped the roster, Quinn changed the culture, and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels took care of almost everything else. From bringing in veteran leaders like Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz, and Austin Ekeler, players known for being great locker room leaders but also still productive players, to signing under-the-radar players such as Frankie Luvu to an outstanding draft class, Washington did almost everything correctly.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah was impressed by the Commanders’ turnaround.

“I think the AP (Adam Peters) I’ve known forever, over 20 years, and I think he’s going to be, like, use the term like a rockstar GM, he’s going to be this for the next 10-plus years,” Jeremiah said on the “Jim Rome Show.”

“The Niners’ team, he has fingerprints all over that talented roster that they’ve built there. You go back to his time in Denver, winning a Super Bowl previously, and in New England, winning a Super Bowl. This guy has just been around championship football his whole career. He understands the value of the vets. Not only the vets but the vets who have been on great units, great teams, championship teams. Like, you go out and get Zach Ertz, who makes big clutch plays. The guy’s caught a game-winner in the Super Bowl to knock off Tom Brady and the Patriots. You think he’s nervous? You think he can impart some knowledge and wisdom to guys on the offensive side of the ball?”

Then he turns his attention to Bobby Wagner.

“You got Bobby Wagner, who is the centerpiece, the middle linebacker for one of the great defenses of the last 25 years, and a Super Bowl champion. Do you think that experience he brings to the table doesn’t matter?” Jeremiah continued.

“Very focused and deliberate on who they brought in and how they were going to help elevate the sum of their parts………This Commanders’ team, this is the ground floor. He’s going to continue to add pieces. Dan Quinn is a stud, like a total stud, who went out and brought a couple guys with him from Dallas that are familiar with his scheme that he knew were a little undervalued around the league in Armstrong and Fowler. It’s a good thing they’ve got going there. They’ve done it the right way. They should be the organization, which is nuts to say considering what they’ve been over the last 15, 20 years, but that, if you’re a team that’s hiring a coach and GM right now, that’s your North Star, just do what they did.”

Jeremiah is as respected as any analyst across the NFL. Before working in the media, he worked as a scout for the Ravens, Browns, and Eagles.

What Jeremiah didn’t discuss was rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels has been instrumental in Washington’s turnaround, but the Commanders, mainly Peters and Quinn, laid the foundation before selecting Daniels second overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

Washington’s turnaround is remarkable. And, unlike previous playoff seasons, the franchise is now set up for long-term success.

Daniel Jeremiah reacts to Broncos QB Bo Nix’s big game in Week 8

“He’s got some of those winner traits,” Daniel Jeremiah said of Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson made a mind-boggling decision to check himself out of the game against the Houston Texans on Sunday because he was tired. The Colts placed him on the bench after they ended up losing.

Elsewhere, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix set career highs across the board as he led Denver to a 28-14 win. The Broncos are 5-3 and do not share the Colts’ problem.

That can be attributed to the play of Nix, who appears to be getting comfortable with Sean Payton’s offense each week.

That’s what Daniel Jeremiah, who appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, said this week. Jeremiah spoke highly about Nix and his play. He also believes that Nix has leadership traits that help balance out the Broncos, as they lean more onto the defensive side.

“He’s got some of those winner traits,” Jeremiah said of Nix.

Up next, the Broncos have a monster AFC matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, as although it’s the midpoint of the season, the winner can play a pivotal role in the playoff picture as the season progresses.
