Daniel Jeremiah reacts to Broncos QB Bo Nix’s big game in Week 8

“He’s got some of those winner traits,” Daniel Jeremiah said of Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson made a mind-boggling decision to check himself out of the game against the Houston Texans on Sunday because he was tired. The Colts placed him on the bench after they ended up losing.

Elsewhere, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix set career highs across the board as he led Denver to a 28-14 win. The Broncos are 5-3 and do not share the Colts’ problem.

That can be attributed to the play of Nix, who appears to be getting comfortable with Sean Payton’s offense each week.

That’s what Daniel Jeremiah, who appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, said this week. Jeremiah spoke highly about Nix and his play. He also believes that Nix has leadership traits that help balance out the Broncos, as they lean more onto the defensive side.

“He’s got some of those winner traits,” Jeremiah said of Nix.

Up next, the Broncos have a monster AFC matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, as although it’s the midpoint of the season, the winner can play a pivotal role in the playoff picture as the season progresses.

NFL analyst weighs in on Commanders’ Jayden Daniels

Popular analyst discusses what he’s seen from Daniels.

Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams were the top two quarterbacks drafted in April’s Draft.

NFL Network Analyst Daniel Jeremiah, a guest on the “Rich Eisen Show,” was asked to compare Daniels (the 2nd overall pick) and Bo Nix (the 12th overall pick.

However, rather than dishonestly winging it, Jeremiah admitted he had only watched the first-game film (not the second game) of Nix. He did, however, interject an observation he had noticed while watching some of Caleb Williams’s film as well.

“I had a chance to go through Jayden’s stuff (film) this morning. I thought he played clean. He took a bunch of sacks in that game, but I thought they did a nice job designing to get the ball out of his hands quick.”

“His mind looked like it was working really fast, like somebody who has played a lot of football (which he has). I thought he did some really nice things, trying to keep the ball out of harm’s way downfield.”

https://twitter.com/JetPackGalileo/status/1836148202233541027

“Kingsbury (Kliff) did a nice job scripting some things…I could see plays building off of one another. I came away encouraged. It’s got to be hard for someone as talented as Jayden Daniels to bottle some of that and not try to do everything. I think that is where the difference is with him, early on, versus Caleb (Williams). Keep in mind, in this case, “early on” is only two NFL games for both Williams and Daniels.

“Both of these guys are supremely talented, and I think maybe Caleb is trying to do too much, trying to make some of those ‘hero plays,’ where Jayden is playing a little bit more under control. But that is an encouraging sign the way he has played.”

This is indeed encouraging for those associated with and following the Washington Commanders.

Daniel Jeremiah explains what Keon Coleman brings to the Bills

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently gave his take on what wide receiver Keon Coleman can bring to the Buffalo Bills next season.

The Buffalo Bills addressed one of the glaring needs on the roster by selecting wide receiver Keon Coleman with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In the wake of Buffalo trading away WR Stefon Diggs this offseason, the Bills drafted a receiver who could bring an impactful player for the offense.

Daniel Jeremiah, former NFL scout and co-host of the “Move The Sticks” podcast, recently gave his take on what Coleman can bring to the Bills when he steps on the field in his first game. “He’s gonna be able to win with bodies all the way around him,” Jeremiah said of the receiver out of Florida State.

Coleman, listed at six-foot-3 and 213 pounds, was commended during the draft for his ability to rack up yards after the catch, which is part of what Jeremiah was speaking to. With the departures of Diggs and Gabe Davis, it seems that Buffalo is trying to build a receiving corps that can help star quarterback Josh Allen out by being able to create more than what they are given when they catch the ball.

“At the top of the route, again, it’s physicality, it’s strength,” Jeremiah said of Coleman’s ability to run his routes without being easily moved off his spots. Jeremiah even had a solid comparison for what Coleman could look like in the NFL. “Marques Colston was my comparison as someone who could be a big slot and just kind of big-boy guys down the field.”

With the additions of Coleman and Curtis Samuel to add to a receiving corps with holdovers in Khalil Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid, time will tell of Coleman will be a starter right away. However, being selected in the second round and being able to play on the outside or in the slot should lend itself to Coleman seeing the field sooner than later.

Did Commanders make Daniel Jeremiah’s top five breakout teams in 2024?

The Commanders named a potential 2024 breakout team by Daniel Jeremiah.

Daniel Jeremiah, a guest on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday, came prepared with his five breakout teams for 2024.

That is to say, which five teams who bottomed out last season will make a large improvement in 2024?

The NFL Network analyst gave his top five in this order: Bengals, Chargers, Bears, Commanders, and Cardinals.

What did Jeremiah and Eisen have to say about the Commanders?

Eisen: “Washington? I was talking about it again the other day when Chris (Brockman) had them 31st on his rankings. Jayden Daniels, I can’t wait to see what he looks like. But Terry McLaurin, Ekeler, Brian Robinson, Jahan Dotson, Kliff Kingsbury dialing it up. They have weapons there, man. They could really light it up, potentially.”

Jeremiah: “They’ve got some weapons there. Offensive line, they’ve got bodies to fill all of those holes. That’s my one, let’s wait and see. I do have some reservations there. Let’s see what that offensive line looks like. But the other side of it, Rich, this is not player-driven but more coach-driven; when was the last time you saw a Dan Quinn defense that didn’t punch above its weight? They’re going to be playing with their hair on fire, playing so hard, squeezing every drop of talent they can out of that group. I think he is going to get more out of that defense than people are expecting.”

Eisen shot back: “The last time I saw that out of a Dan Quinn defense, was the last game he coordinated for the Dallas Cowboys, to be very honest with you.”

Jeremiah simply laughed as if to say, “Ok, you got me with that one.”

I’m usually a big fan of Jeremiah’s work. However, in this case, upon first glance, NFL fans should notice that though the Bengals did finish last in the AFC North in 2023, their record was 9-8. Consequently, how are they going to have the largest breakout in 2024 unless they win 14 games to finish 14-3?

Also, the Bears were actually 7-10 in 2023, three games better than the 4-13 Commanders and Cardinals, while two games better than the 5-12 Chargers.

The discussion did not provide the qualifications for a top breakout team. Should a top breakout team win, say, five more games than they did in 2023?

If so, Jeremiah’s five teams’ records would be as follows: Bengals 14-3, Bears 12-5, Chargers 10-7, and Commanders and Cardinals both 9-8.

Unless one is willing to define what a breakout season is in terms of improved wins (+5, my example), then what are we even predicting?

Report: Commanders to be aggressive with potential move back into 1st round

Do the Commanders have a target in mind?

The Washington Commanders have two pressing needs going into the first round of the 2024 NFL draft: Quarterback and offensive tackle. Washington is expected to pick its quarterback at No. 2 overall.

The Commanders next go on the clock at No. 36 overall and also hold the Bears’ second-round pick at No. 40. Washington will likely target an offensive tackle with one of its second-round picks unless there is a trade back into the first round.

ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid called the Commanders moving back into the first round the “worst-kept secret” in the draft. NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes the Commanders will move back into the first round, even projecting a trade in his final mock draft, leading them to select Georgia OT Amarius Mims.

Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report and The Draft Network had the following to say about the Commanders on Thursday:

Guyton is a 6-foot-8, 322-pound prospect who began his career at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma, where he spent the past two years. Guyton started five games in 2022, four at right tackle and one at left tackle. In 2023, he started nine games at right tackle.

Here is NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein’s scouting report on Guyton:

Ascending tackle prospect with the traits and tape to project a bright future as a high-level pass protector in the league. Guyton has battled injuries and had limited reps coming over from TCU after the 2021 season, but his flashes have been complemented by increasing consistency. He plays with a high center of gravity and needs to get stronger, but leveraged hand strikes can help overcome those concerns. He should continue to get better as a run blocker but might never shine in that department. Guyton’s value comes with his pass protection, as he has the length, feet and body control to become a human roadblock. He should become a talented starter at either tackle position.

NFL Network draft expert releases final mock 2024 draft

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah projects four Alabama players to be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft

The 2024 NFL draft is set to begin this evening, and it is certainly one of the more anticipated draft nights in recent memory. The draft will be headlined by quarterbacks with six guys projected to go in the first round, however, there will be a lot of other solid year-one players such as guys like Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers that will find new homes tonight.

Under the guidance of legendary head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag], the Alabama Crimson Tide have dominated the NFL draft, especially the first round. With Saban retiring earlier this off-season, it will be his final batch of NFL-produced players. It was a good group to end on as they sent the GOAT off with an SEC Championship and Rose Bowl appearance.

Secrets are kept so deeply under wraps that it is hard to know what teams are truly thinking. Still, Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network confidently projects four Crimson Tide players to hear their names taken tonight in the first round with J.C. Latham, Dallas Turner, Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry. Jeremiah expects Latham to be the first OT taken off the board as high as No. 5 overall to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football players as the 2024 NFL draft gets started.

Daniel Jeremiah changes his pick for the Commanders in his final mock draft

Daniel Jeremiah makes his final pick.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah, in his first few mock drafts, had North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye going to the Washington Commanders.

Not anymore. In his final mock draft ahead of Round 1 of the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday, Jeremiah changed his pick to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.

As we come down the home stretch, the whispers of Washington’s preference for Daniels have become a roar. I’m sure the Commanders have had suitors looking to acquire this pick — including the Raiders — but I don’t see GM Adam Peters passing on the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

Jeremiah acknowledged earlier in the week that while in his gut, he thought Peters would choose Maye, the whispers were far too strong to ignore, and he would switch his pick to Daniels.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”5375″ ]

No surprise. Since ESPN’s Adam Schefter came out strong that he believed Daniels would be the pick weeks ago, the momentum quickly shifted to Daniels, where it had been somewhat close in February and March.

While no one knows what Peters will do on Thursday, there’s too much smoke. Daniels will be Washington’s quarterback in 2024 and beyond.

49ers select fastest player in NFL combine history in Daniel Jeremiah mock draft

How about the combine record holder in the 40-yard dash going to the #49ers in Daniel Jeremiah’s final mock draft?

On the eve of the NFL draft, NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah has connected an intriguing name to the 49ers in his final mock draft. Jeremiah has San Francisco selecting Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy No. 31 overall.

If Worthy’s name sounds familiar it’s because he set an NFL combine record this year when he ripped off a 4.21 in the 40-yard dash. His performance at the combine put him immediately into the conversation as a first-round pick and now Jeremiah believes he’ll be San Francisco’s selection when they’re finally on the clock with the penultimate pick in the first round.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”5375″ ]

Speed is certainly Worthy’s main calling card, especially after the catch where he is electric with the ball in his hands. It also allowed him to be productive across all three of his college seasons. He posted 981 yards as a freshman with 12 touchdowns, and finished his career with 197 catches for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdown catches. Worthy was also a tremendous punt returner who averaged nearly 14 yards per return in his career.

The 49ers have been on the hunt for a speedy wide receiver since Marquise Goodwin’s exit after the 2019 campaign. They haven’t had success with Danny Gray who didn’t see any action last year because of a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the season, but even as a rookie he posted just one catch for 10 yards on seven targets.

Worthy would presumably take on the role Gray was supposed to fill as a field stretcher with a refined route tree that allows him to be effective at all three levels of the passing game.

One red flag with Worthy though is how well his body will stand up to NFL contact. He measured at 5-11, 169 pounds at his Pro Day, which is a concern that may be quelled by the fact he never missed a game in college.

It’s unclear whether Jeremiah has the 49ers going with Worthy because he believes they’ll trade Brandon Aiyuk, or if he believes the pair will coexist long-term with San Francisco. Either way the fit makes sense as long as Worthy can continue being an explosive playmaker in the first and second levels of the passing game.

Daniel Jeremiah’s final mock draft sends Cooper DeJean to Packers

Daniel Jeremiah sent Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean to the Packers at No. 25 overall in his final mock draft of the 2024 cycle.

Daniel Jeremiah, one of the top analysts of the NFL draft, sent Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean to the Green Bay Packers at No. 25 overall in his final mock draft of the 2024 cycle.

It’s increasingly clear that DeJean, the favorite for the Packers to start the draft process, is once again the heavy favorite with the start of the first round just a day away.

From Jeremiah: “The Packers have loaded up on defense in recent drafts and they stay at it here. DeJean can play nickel back, outside corner and he could develop into a really good safety, as well.”

In Jeremiah’s mock draft, the Dallas Cowboys took Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton at No. 24, and the Packers took DeJean over Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu.

DeJean is such an easy fit for the Packers. Brian Gutekunst wants a young, elite and versatile athlete in the first round. DeJean checks all three boxes. He could fill a long-term need at cornerback or an immediate need at safety and has huge special teams value. The Packers deeply respect Iowa’s football program. Gutekunst wants an interchangeable safety who can play deep and cover the slot; DeJean is a fit. Jeff Hafley wants takeaways; DeJean had seven picks the last two seasons.

Picking late in the first round, the Packers getting a high ceiling, high floor prospect like DeJean would be a huge win. He’s an easy player to project into Green Bay’s defense and has the athleticism and versatility to be a game-changing player.

Two years ago, Jeremiah correctly predicted the Packers would take linebacker Quay Walker in the first round. Last year, his prediction for the Packers was tight end Dalton Kincaid at No. 13.

Bucs land dream pick in latest 1st-round mock draft

This would be a dream scenario for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft

One of the most useful NFL mock drafts every year is the final one put out by NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, and this year’s version is the best-case scenario for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his latest first-round projection, Jeremiah has the Bucs landing Florida State edge defender Jared Verse at the No. 26 overall pick.

Here’s what Jeremiah had to say about the selection:

I could see a team like Tampa Bay making a trade to go get Verse if he starts to slide. In this exercise, he’s available at No. 26 and would be one of the best value picks of the first round.

It wouldn’t be shocking at all to see the Bucs move up a few spots for Verse if he gets close to their original slot, which would make it a massive win if he manages to slide all the way to No. 26.

It’s no secret the Bucs need another impact player off the edge after parting ways with Shaq Barrett this offseason, and Verse has the complete skill set and polished technique to make an immediate impact. That’s exactly the kind of player Tampa Bay needs as they look to win a fourth straight division title.
