The UFC’s final pay-per-view of the year went down Saturday with UFC 282 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After an incredible run of 10 consecutive finishes to start the card, the night ended in bizarre fashion with [autotag]Jan Blachowicz[/autotag] (29-9-1 MMA, 12-6-1 UFC) and [autotag]Magomed Ankalaev[/autotag] (18-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) failing to determine a new UFC light heavyweight champion. The pair fought to a split draw in the vacant title headliner, which is a rarity in UFC history.

UFC 282: Shahbazyan vs. Lungiambula picks and predictions

Records: Shahbazyan (11-3) | Lungiambula (11-5)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Despite 3-straight losses, Shahbazyan is still just 25 years old and has plenty of untapped potential. Lungiambula is a stronger striker but recent opponents have been able to remain patient and find holes in his standup game. With Shahbazyan being more of a sound, technical striker, this seems like a good fight for him to notch a win and get back on track.

However, the moneyline payout for Shahbazyan at -300 is not worth the risk, so you’re better off taking SHAHBAZYAN BY TKO/KO (+112).

Over/Under (O/U)

Both fighters have decision wins and losses under their belts as well as early- and late-round KO wins and losses. With Shahbazyan joining a new camp and possibly adopting a new strategy, it may be tough to predict a round finish for this bout.

AVOID the Over/Under.

UFC on ABC 3 video: Punahele Soriano KOs Dalcha Lungiambula to get back on track

Punahele Soriano needed a win in the worst way at UFC on ABC 3, and he got the job done in resounding fashion.

[autotag]Punahele Soriano[/autotag] needed a win in the worst way at UFC on ABC 3, and he got the job done in resounding fashion.

After suffering back-to-back losses following an unbeaten start to his career, Soriano (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) returned to the win column Saturday with a second-round TKO of [autotag]Dalcha Lungiambula[/autotag] (11-5 MMA, 2-4 UFC) in their middleweight bout on Long Island.

Soriano was forced to stay away from Lungiambula’s dangerous strikes in the first round. He brought big power of his own in return, though, and when the second frame began, he landed a huge shot that opened the door for the finishing sequence (via Twitter):

By snapping a losing skid of his own, Soriano sent Lungiambula onto a third consecutive defeat. Soriano was emotional during his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, and said he’s been working harder than ever to produce positive results.

UFC Fight Night 203 video: Cody Brundage capitalizes on mistake, rallies from beating for submission win

Cody Brundage took a thorough beating from Dalcha Lungiambula for nearly four minutes before suddenly turning the tables.

[autotag]Cody Brundage[/autotag] needed just one opportunity to put away [autotag]Dalcha Lungiambula[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night 203, but it came after a thorough beating.

Lungiambula (12-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) came out on fire at the opening bell of the middleweight fight Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He landed a ton of punishing shots on Brundage (7-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), putting swelling all over the face and nearing the point of a stoppage.

It just took a simple mistake from Lungiambula to turn the tide, though, as he attempted a level-change near the fence, which allowed Brundage to jump right into a guillotine choke. He locked it in, and Lungiambula tapped at the 3:41 mark of Round 1.

Check out the improbable finish below (via Twitter):

[lawrence-related id=2530694,2530649]

Brundage said post-fight that he had a feeling it would be a challenging start against Lungiambula. However, he had confidence his durability would hold up against an opponent with poor conditioning, and now he’s in the UFC win column for the first time.

“I knew he was going to fade,” Brundage said during his post-fight interview with Paul Felder. “His biggest weakness is his cardio, and I was just waiting for him to gas. He took a sloppy shot, and I made him pay for it.”
