After a career season where he might win MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has reportedly signed an extension with Converse and will have his first signature shoe debut in 2025. He also received the title of Creative Director of Converse Basketball.

This shouldn’t be a shocker as Gilgeous-Alexander is the best NBA player signed with Converse. Over the last two seasons, he’s ascended into one of the best players in the league with probable top-five MVP vote finishes.

As the Thunder enter a title contender, expect Gilgeous-Alexander to be a prominent player showcased in the league. This is the first of likely several playoff runs led by Gilgeous-Alexander for OKC.

In 75 games, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 30.1 points on 53.5% shooting, 6.2 assists and 5.5 rebounds. He led the Thunder to a 57-25 record and first place in the Western Conference Standings.

In fact, GQ voters named Gilgeous-Alexander the most stylish player in the league in 2022. This a crown that he wears with pride, and he is now a fixture at events like Paris Fashion Week.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who has a sneaker deal with Converse, recently starred in a unique campaign for the company. Learn more about why Converse has plans to re-create its niche by aligning with outspoken basketball stars.

The spot was executive produced by Tyler, The Creator. Gilgeous-Alexander appears alongside a wide-ranging group of talented folks including Vince Staples (a musician and actor from Long Beach) and Turnstile (a hardcore punk band from Baltimore).

For The Win caught up with Gilgeous-Alexander to speak about the campaign. He also discussed his vision for Oklahoma City’s future, his experience at Paris Fashion Week, drawing inspiration from Virgil Abloh and Allen Iverson and plenty more.

After inking a new endorsement deal in March, Draymond Green teamed with other talented basketball players for a new Converse video.

In early March, Draymond Green became the latest member of the Golden State Warriors to sign a new shoe deal. Instead of Nike, Under Armour or Adidas, Green opted to ink a multi-year agreement with Converse.

Fast forward to October, and the Golden State Warriors forward is featured in Converse latest video.

Along with some dramatic violin music and a stirring speech from Hall of Famer Julius “Dr. J” Erving, the Warriors former Defensive Player of the Year played a key role in the Converse commercial.

During the video, Green is working on his dribbling in an empty gym. Green’s signature scream also made an appearance.

In the clip, Green was joined by fellow Converse athletes like Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre and Washington Mystics guard Tasha Cloud.

Although he hasn’t debuted a new signature shoe yet, Green will have the chance to lace up his new Converse gear on the court when the Warriors return to Chase Center for preseason training camp.

Report: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander signs multi-year deal with Converse

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is earning an opportunity to continue expressing himself in signing with Converse.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has always been in touch with his style and aesthetic.

As a second-year player out of Kentucky, Gilgeous-Alexander has been featured on SLAM’s League Fits page numerous times. He was even recently named the League Fits People’s Choice MVP. Now, Gilgeous-Alexander has an opportunity to express himself with a brand that’s working to make a comeback.

According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Gilgeous-Alexander has signed a multi-year shoe and apparel endorsement deal with Converse.

Gilgeous-Alexander signed with Nike ahead of his rookie season, and he will join Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, Phoenix Suns wing Kelly Oubre Jr. and Washington Mystics guard Natasha Cloud as Converse athletes. Nike bought Converse in 2003. 

DePaula reported that Gilgeous-Alexander will start wearing Converse this week as the Thunder prepare for the NBA’s Orlando bubble.

“The exclusiveness of the brand, not having so many guys, and the ability to express myself on and off the court in so many different ways appeals to me so much,” Gilgeous-Alexander said, per DePaula.

Gilgeous-Alexander is a perfect fit to help Converse swing back into hoops. His unique style aligns with Converse, a brand that’s generally been original.

The signature star on the shoe, along with the brand’s vibrant colors, makes for a cool design. With his fashion sense, Gilgeous-Alexander will have some control over his designs, per DePaula.

Gilgeous-Alexander has had a stellar second year. He has scored a career-high 19.3 points per game this season, dished 3.3 assists a game and shot 47.1% from the field. He is a vital part of the Thunder’s effective three-guard trio, which includes Chris Paul and Dennis Schroder.

The Thunder will play their first seeding game Aug. 1 against the Utah Jazz, with tip off set for 3:30 p.m. ET.

Converse officially welcomed Draymond Green to the family.

After spending the first seven years of his career donning the Nike swoosh, Draymond Green has a new shoe deal. The former Defensive Player of the Year signed a multiyear endorsement deal with Converse. Green, along with Phoenix Suns guard Kelly Oubre Jr. will take over as the leaders Converse’s basketball brand.

Green has yet to debut his new Converse shoes on the court as he’s been absent from the past five games due to lingering knee soreness. Once Green returns to the Golden State Warriors, he’s expected to lace up the Converse G4 shoe.

While there’s still a wait for Green’s in-game shoe debut, Converse released a “welcome to the family” commercial for the Michigan State product.
