Pitcher Ian Gibaut hilariously lost the ‘T’ on his Great Britain jersey during a World Baseball Classic game

Great Britain pitcher Ian Gibaut didn’t want to mess around with this loose letter.

Great Britain pitcher Ian Gibaut lost the “T” on his jersey during his team’s World Baseball Classic battle against Columbia on Monday.

While Great Britain’s jerseys have gotten some hate for looking so boring, the “T” on Gibaut’s jersey came loose and flipped upside down.

The pitcher, who plays for the Cincinnati Red stateside, didn’t leave the letter hanging for long, He wiped the loose “T” off his jersey and continuing on with the day with just “Grea Britain” on the uniform.

Just like all of us, the announcers noticed the “T” on Gibaut’s jersey before it got knocked to the ground.

However, maybe it gave Britain some luck, as they won the day’s game against Columbia, 7-5.

Well, it doesn’t always help that letters on jerseys like this aren’t stuck on very well. Maybe the rest of Gibaut’s teammates will get rid of the “T” on their jerseys and all be “Grea Britain” out of solidarity.

As we know, Great Britain has a tough history with handling “T” when it spills.

Chiefs scouts attend Texas, Purdue, UNLV and Columbia pro days

#Chiefs scouts have been in attendance for Texas, Purdue, UNLV and Columbia pro days thus far.

It’s officially pro day season for the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL.

Scouts hit the road to get a final look at all the draft-eligible players ahead of the 2023 NFL draft. They’ll hone in on those players who weren’t participants in All-Star games or at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, gathering information to help them make the best decisions possible in April’s draft and in undrafted free agency. They’ll also look to fill in the blanks on those players who didn’t work out in full at the combine.

With several key pro days kicking off earlier this week, here’s a look at those that we’ve confirmed the Chiefs were in attendance for:

Watch: Notre Dame-USC rivalry comes to 1985 ‘Press Your Luck’ episode

This Notre Dame student was after big bucks.

Here’s a fun fact about me: I love game shows. Like, really love game shows. I’ve loved them for about as long as I’ve been alive. In fact, I’d be pretty upset if they all went away.

Our fearless leader, Nick Shepkowski, knows this about me. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had me cover a Notre Dame student’s disastrous performance in this year’s Jeopardy! National College Championship. I don’t know how many game show fans come to this site, but if you are one of them, follow me on my Twitter handle listed at the bottom of this story. I’d love to get to know you.

Being a student of game shows, I usually have Buzzr on my TV during the day. For the uninitiated, that’s a channel that shows old game shows all day every day, usually from the ’70s and ’80s. Not long ago, it aired a 1989 Classic Concentration episode of a Notre Dame alumnus winning a car. It actually took him two episodes to seal the deal, but being on the show more than once allowed him the opportunity to win more prizes.

This week, Notre Dame representation came to Buzzr again. This time, it was a 1985 College Week episode of Press Your Luck. An appropriately-dressed student competed against ones from USC and Columbia. How awesome would it be if this classic college rivalry could take center stage at the end when it came down to two players?

Here’s the episode in its entirety. I’ll briefly discuss the episode below the video, so stop reading here if you want to watch it first:

So yeah, it went about as badly as it could for our Notre Dame student. The good news is the Trojan didn’t come away with the win either. Go figure that someone from the Ivy League would walk away with the cash and prizes though. But hey, at least the Irish are undefeated against the Lions in basketball.

Notre Dame adds another PWO defender to their 2022 recruiting class

Another W over the Wolverines

It seemed like the Irish were going to have a very quiet late signing period but that all changed this evening. Florida defensive athlete Tre Reader announced his intentions to join the Notre Dame football team as a preferred walk-on.

The six-foot-two-inch and 210-pound Reader will either grown into a linebacker or a defensive end, depending on how his body fills out over the next few years. He chose the Irish over offers from Columbia, Fordham and Stetson while also having an opportunity to walk-on at Michigan as well.

Any time the Irish beat the Wolverines it is a win and Reader could develop into a contributor a few years down the road.

Ivy League announces fall sports are canceled

The Ivy League announced it is canceling all fall sports for 2020.

There will be no football or other sports in the Ivy League this fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Wednesday.

The eight schools that comprise the conference could be looking at a spring schedule — possibly playing against each other. However, no decision has been made regarding that possibility.

“The feeling is that once we made the decision to postpone fall sports, we will have some time to assess the situation (pandemic) before making a decision about playing next spring,” one Ivy League source told SI.com.

The release:

With the safety and well-being of students as their highest priority, Ivy League institutions are implementing campus-wide policies including restrictions on student and staff travel, requirements for social distancing, limits on group gatherings, and regulations for visitors to campus. As athletics is expected to operate consistent with campus policies, it will not be possible for Ivy League teams to participate in intercollegiate athletics competition prior to the end of the fall semester.

Practice and other athletic training opportunities for enrolled student-athletes will be permitted provided they are structured in accordance with each institution’s procedures and applicable state regulations. The Ivy League will also issue guidelines on a phased approach to conditioning and practice activities to allow for interaction among student-athletes and coaches that will begin with limited individual and small group workouts and build to small group practice sessions, if public health conditions permit.

Fall sport student-athletes will not use a season of Ivy League or NCAA eligibility in the fall, whether or not they enroll. Students who wish to pursue competition during a fifth-year will need to work with their institutions in accordance with campus policy to determine their options beyond their current anticipated graduation date.

The question in the bigger picture is will this decision have an impact on college football as a whole.
