Colts’ player of the game vs. Jets: RB Jonathan Taylor

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor earns Player of the Game honors in the win over the Jets.

The Indianapolis Colts (4-5) came away with a 45-30 win against the New York Jets (2-6) on Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The offense was firing on all cylinders as Frank Reich’s play-calling was spot-on all night. While it was close in the end, this game would not have been won without another dominant performance by star running back Jonathan Taylor.

The second-year stud continues to prove himself as one of the best backs in the league, going for 172 yards on the ground and two touchdowns on 19 carries against the Jets. He also added two catches for 28 yards.

Taylor’s first touchdown of the night came in the first half to give the Colts a 14-7 lead by going 21 yards for the score. Then in the third quarter, he torched the Jets defense for a 78-yarder.

Taylor went over 100 rushing yards for the fourth time this year and moves into first place in rushing yards in the NFL. He is having breakout performances behind this Colts offensive line that has been solid the past few weeks.

Xavier Rhodes is Colts’ player of the game vs. Jets in Week 3

Rhodes were closed in Week 3.

The Indianapolis Colts (2-1) pulled off a dominant performance against the New York Jets (0-3) in which the defense shined all afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The 36-7 win would not have been possible without an amazing performance from cornerback Xavier Rhodes and the rest of the Colts secondary.

Rhodes finished the day with not one, but two interceptions. His biggest play was in the first quarter when he picked off Sam Darnold and took it to the house for a 44 yard score.

He was all over the field on Sunday and matched up well with tight ends that were split out wide due to the Jets’ injuries at receiver. With Rock Ya-Sin inactive due to an illness, Rhodes and fellow corner T.J Carrie have picked up the slack in a big way. Carrie also had a pick-six in the fourth quarter.

The Colts travel to Chicago next week to face a 3-0 Bears team that is struggling at the quarterback position. If the defense can put up 16 points on their own like they did against the Jets, the Colts can go toe to toe with anyone in the league.
