Notre Dame trending the wrong way with 5-star Arizona defensive end

Sigh…

It’s an understatement to say that [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] is having a rough last two weeks on the recruiting trail.

There was a chance for the Irish to wash away their bad mojo with 5-star Arizona defensive end [autotag]Elijah Rushing[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 5-inch and 251 pound player is set to make his verbal commitment tomorrow, but it’s looking like he won’t be selecting Notre Dame.

Rushing took an official visit to South Bend in early June and the Irish made a solid impression. However, the 3rd ranked edge and 27th overall prospect according to the 247Sports composite has their director of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, believing that Arizona is now the team to beat.

The Irish really needed another impact defensive lineman to pair with commit [autotag]Loghan Thomas[/autotag] for their 2024 recruiting class, but has yet to find one. This isn’t a knock on the other commits [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], [autotag]Sean Sevillano Jr.[/autotag], or [autotag]Cole Mullins[/autotag], it’s just that they most likely aren’t prospects who will see the field immediately for the Irish.

It looks like the search will continue for [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and his coaching staff.

Son of Notre Dame legend commits to Irish

Like father like son!

Notre Dame landed its 12th commitment in the 2024 recruiting class on Saturday when defensive end [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] of Charlotte announced his intentions to play football for the Irish. Young is a mountain of young man. He stands 6 feet, 5 inches and checks in at 240 pounds.

Young has seen his recruiting profile grow in recent months. When originally offered by Notre Dame, he was rated as a three-star prospect across the board, but he has earned a fourth star from On3 and Rivals. He has also received offers from a few powerhouse programs, including Tennessee and USC.

Young is the son of Notre Dame great and pro football Hall of Famer [autotag]Bryant Young[/autotag] who starred for the Irish in the early 1990’s.  Bryant was drafted seventh by the 49ers in the 1994 NFL draft before going on to a legendary career that included a Super Bowl 29 win.

Bryce chose Notre Dame while holding several offers. The aforementioned Tennessee and USC programs stick out as do Michigan, Miami and Penn State on his offer list.

Young is the 12th commitment in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class and joins [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag] and [autotag]Cole Mullins[/autotag] as defensive linemen in the class.

Notre Dame gets a commit from Georgia 2024 middle linebacker

The first recruiting win of the day for the Irish

When [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] missed on Texas linebacker Payton Pierce, head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] had to find another prospect to take that spot in the 2024 class.

Freeman found him. Georgia linebacker [autotag]Cole Mullins[/autotag] committed to the Irish prior to the Blue and Gold game. The athlete, who also plays defensive end and tight end, stands 6 feet, 4 inches and weighs 240 pounds. He has great size for the position.

Mullins is ranked as an edge player, the 43rd at his position and 647th overall according to the 247Sports composite, but his offer list shows he’s a much better player than his ranking.

It’s a great start to a very important recruiting weekend. Mullins is the 10th commit in the 2024 cycle and the first linebacker.

Notre Dame Football keeps offers going, more out today to big time prospects

Some new, some old, all Irish offers

At this point, it is getting really hard to keep track of who [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] Football is offering. Over this past week there have been multiple offers out to high school stars and they keep coming.

Head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and his staff are putting in the hard work. It has yet to pay off but they are setting themselves up for future success.

I’ve been doing my best to find these offers and let you know about them, but some have been lost in the action. Here are the most recent offers that have gone out today and any of the ones that we may have missed over the past days.
