Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah gets huge takeaway in the red zone

JOK continues his ascension

On the second defensive drive of the day in this Week 5 matchup, Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah intercepted Jayden Daniels’ pass in a huge defensive stop against the Washington Commanders.

The Browns defense is off to an impressive start after shutting down the Commanders on their opening drive and intercepting quarterback Jayden Daniels. This is only Daniels’ second interception of the year and Owusu-Koramoah’s third in his career. The drive was rocky after Terry McLaurin recorded a sixty-five-yard catch on a broken play.

He was luckily tackled by Denzel Ward before the Browns’ defense was able to stop them. The Browns’ star linebacker has also recorded a tackle for loss and a quarterback pressure in the first quarter along with his interception.

Cleveland must rely on their defense to stop the powerful Commanders offense. The turnover battle will be a huge factor in the final result of this game. We’ll see if Jim Schwartz’s defense can come up with more turnovers this afternoon.

Corey Bojorquez named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Corey Bojorquez has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week!

Now for the second time since Week 12, the Cleveland Browns are the home for the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. First, it was Donovan Peoples-Jones bringing home the honor after returning a punt for a touchdown against the Houston Texans. Now punter Corey Bojorquez wins the award for his Week 17 performance against the Washington Commanders.

On the day, Bojorquez was asked to punt four times, mainly due to the offense failing to hit their stride until the second half. On his four punts, Bojorquez knocked down two inside the 20-yard line, averaged about 47 yards per punt, and even boomed one of 64 yards for the Browns.

Upon Further Review: What stood out from the all-22 vs. Commanders?

What stood out from the all-22 as the Browns defeated the Commanders on Sunday?

It is always more fun to write about these all-22 breakdowns after the Cleveland Browns come away with a win. And they did just that in a 24-10 victory over the Washington Commanders that featured a second half beatdown on both sides of the football for the Browns.

Much of the finer details of the game do not show up on the broadcast. What coverage defenses are in, what schemes the offenses are running, and more are not evident until the all-22 comes out. After peeking at the all-22, here are a few things that stood out from a second watch of this game.

Reggie Ragland: Some Commanders ‘would’ve preferred’ Taylor Heinicke

Reggie Ragland stirred the pot a bit in D.C.

The Washington Commanders opted to bench Taylor Heinicke in favor of Carson Wentz against the Cleveland Browns. It ended in a three-interception performance from Wentz and a Cleveland win as the Commanders were officially eliminated from playoff contention (much to Ron Rivera’s surprise). Cleveland linebacker Reggie Ragland, however, may have ruffled some feathers in D.C. with his postgame comments.

After the game, Ragland came out and stated that he knew some players in Washington’s locker room that would have preferred for Rivera to stick with Heinicke over Wentz. Ragland was college teammates with both Washington defensive tackles Jon Allen and Browns’ free agent target Daron Payne, and wide receiver Cam Sims. He also spent time in Kansas City with cornerback Kendall Fuller.

Regardless, Ragland knew the Browns could take advantage of Wentz’s long release, and take advantage they did.

Winning by a score of 24-10 on the day, the Browns found a load of offensive success after making halftime adjustments to comebacks and dismantle the Commanders in the second half. They now look to close the season on a 5-2 run as the Pittsburgh Steelers are last on their list.

WATCH: Grant Delpit gets water bath after career day vs. Commanders

Grant Delpit gets a water bath in celebration of his big game against the Commanders

The Cleveland Browns improved to 7-9 on the season after a win against the Washington Commanders. And a big reason why they had so much success on the afternoon was due to the ball-hawking of safety Grant Delpit, who had two interceptions on the day. During his locker room speech afterward, head coach Kevin Stefanski highlighted all of the standouts. And hilarity broke out when he got to Delpit as cornerback Greedy Williams then stood over him and dumped water on his head in celebration as if he’d just won the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

As the Browns look to close the season on a two-game winning streak as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, they will need Delpit to continue to stack games as he has done since the bye week.

4 Downs: Deshaun Watson finally clicks, Grant Delpit has career day vs. Commanders

What stood out from this Week 17 win?

The Cleveland Browns have racked up their seventh win on the season as they defeat the Washington Commanders by a score of 24-10. After trailing 7-3 heading into halftime, the Browns outscored Washington by a score of 21-3 on their own turf. Finally finding success from their quarterback Deshaun Watson, and getting a big day from safety Grant Delpit, the now 7-9 Browns look to close the season with another win next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns will still wait to hear about the injury to right tackle Jack Conklin but otherwise left healthy against the Commanders. Taking a look at this game for another edition of 4 Downs, what stood out the most in this Week 17 victory over the Commanders?

WATCH: Grant Delpit picks off Carson Wentz for second time vs. Commanders

The Browns are pulling away as Grant Delpit’s career day continues!

What a day for third-year safety Grant Delpit. Having a career day against the Washington Commanders, Delpit has given the Cleveland Browns their third turnover on the day with his second Carson Wentz interception as Cleveland pulls away in the second half.

The Browns have played complementary football in the second half, surrendering just three points to the Commanders, while the offense has scored on every drive down the stretch as Amari Cooper has two touchdowns on the day. With three minutes left, this game is all but over as the Browns will win their seventh game of the season and finally find some success offensively.

WATCH: Amari Cooper and Deshaun Watson connect for another touchdown vs. Commanders

Watson to Amari for a second time today

The Cleveland Browns now have a comfortable lead against the Washington Commanders as quarterback Deshaun Watson finds wide receiver Amari Cooper for the second time today. Cooper now has three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, all in the second half of this game. Watson is now up to 169 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders.

The Browns have already gotten two takeaways from Carson Wentz and the Commanders in this one. Can they get another one here with five minutes left to seal this win for the Browns as they seek their seventh win of the 2022 campaign as they slug it out with the Commanders?

Browns Injury Alert: RT Jack Conklin questionable to return with ankle injury

The Browns may be without their RT the rest of the way out.

The Cleveland Browns have now inserted James Hudson in at right tackle as Jack Conklin has limped off with an ankle injury. Fresh off of a four-year extension, Conklin is questionable to return today against the Washington Commanders. Up 17-10 with six minutes to go in the game, the Browns will lean on Hudson and the rest of the offensive line to grind this game away in the nation’s capital.

This is the first time Conklin has suffered an injury in 2022 after returning to the lineup in Week 3 for the Browns. As he is in Cleveland for at least two more seasons, one can hope that Conklin’s health can continue to trend in the right direction.
