Corey Bojorquez named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Corey Bojorquez has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week!

Now for the second time since Week 12, the Cleveland Browns are the home for the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. First, it was Donovan Peoples-Jones bringing home the honor after returning a punt for a touchdown against the Houston Texans. Now punter Corey Bojorquez wins the award for his Week 17 performance against the Washington Commanders.

On the day, Bojorquez was asked to punt four times, mainly due to the offense failing to hit their stride until the second half. On his four punts, Bojorquez knocked down two inside the 20-yard line, averaged about 47 yards per punt, and even boomed one of 64 yards for the Browns.

Upon Further Review: What stood out from the all-22 vs. Commanders?

What stood out from the all-22 as the Browns defeated the Commanders on Sunday?

It is always more fun to write about these all-22 breakdowns after the Cleveland Browns come away with a win. And they did just that in a 24-10 victory over the Washington Commanders that featured a second half beatdown on both sides of the football for the Browns.

Much of the finer details of the game do not show up on the broadcast. What coverage defenses are in, what schemes the offenses are running, and more are not evident until the all-22 comes out. After peeking at the all-22, here are a few things that stood out from a second watch of this game.

Donovan Peoples-Jones: ‘Makes me excited’ that Deshaun Watson shows trust in him

“That really makes me feel good and makes me excited, too.”

Quarterback Deshaun Watson keeps looking toward wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones through the air for the Cleveland Browns. Even after dropping a crucial catch against the Washington Commanders, Watson turned right back to Peoples-Jones on the very next play to connect for a touchdown to put the Browns up 17-7 at the time.

Asked on Monday about what it meant for Watson to turn back to him, Peoples-Jones stated:

“Yesterday, it really instills confidence because I know that even like yesterday I had the drop, I really wanted that bad, and sometimes you don’t know if you will get the ball after that. To know that he’s coming right back to me the next play shows that he is not worried about that. That really makes me feel good and makes me excited, too.”

Former Browns QB makes classy donation to Damar Hamlin’s toy drive

Brian Hoyer has always been a class act

Last night, the NFL experienced a shock as the whole world surrounded safety Damar Hamlin with positive vibes. After the safety collapsed on the field for the Buffalo Bills, his fundraising toy drive link spread like wildfire across social media. This has led to donations exceeding $3 million, and even his NFL colleagues got involved. One of those players is a former quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Brian Hoyer.

Joining a plethora of other players, Hoyer donated $1,000 to the toy drive of Hamlin to show his love and support for the Buffalo safety. Hoyer has always been a class act, and that has not changed since he departed from Cleveland.

Rookie Martin Emerson Jr. listed as a lockdown cornerback

The rook gets a shoutout!

The Cleveland Browns found a gem in the third round when they selected cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. out of Mississippi State. As a starter when the Browns go into nickel sets across from Denzel Ward, Emerson has been a force, including a standout performance against Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And it shows up in deeper metrics as well. Pranav Rajaram of 4for4 Fantasy Football pulled data to highlight both forced incompletions and receiving yards allowed, and Emerson Jr. grades out quite well in both categories. This locks Emerson into the same quadrant as the likes of Sauce Gardner of the New York Jets, A.J. Terrell of the Atlanta Falcons, and James Bradberry of the Philadelphia Eagles.

It would be a tough ask to want more out of Emerson Jr. than what he has given the Browns as a rookie. Greg Newsome II was also listed in the “solid” section as well.

Browns could be without Denzel Ward, Jack Conklin vs. Steelers

The Browns have the status of two starters up in the air this week against the Steelers

The Cleveland Browns got a great output from Denzel Ward against the Washington Commanders. On the day, Ward was targeted just once, coming away with an interception off of quarterback Carson Wentz. The Browns, however, may now be without him as they close the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ward is not the only starter who enters the final week banged up as right tackle Jack Conklin also has his status up in the air as well.

Fresh off of an extension and a season full of health, this is the last thing the Browns and Conklin want to see. Can they both suit up to end the season on a high note? Keep your eyes peeled for the weekly injury reports.

Where would the Browns pick if the 2023 NFL Draft were today?

Where would the Browns pick if the 2023 NFL Draft were today?

The Cleveland Browns are now sitting at 7-9 after a win against the Washington Commanders by a score of 24-10. As a result, their draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has dropped a few slots from a week ago. As they look to put a dagger in the playoff hopes of the Pittsburgh Steelers next week, they could see that pick drop another spot or two. However, as it sits today, where would the Browns pick in the 2023 NFL Draft with one week to go?

According to Tankathon, the Browns currently hold the 43rd pick in the draft as they do not hold a first round pick. This would turn out to be the 42nd overall pick in the draft as the Miami Dolphins have forfeited the current 18th overall pick. This would be a perfect opportunity to grab a top-tier defensive tackle.

WATCH: Grant Delpit picks off Carson Wentz for second time vs. Commanders

The Browns are pulling away as Grant Delpit’s career day continues!

What a day for third-year safety Grant Delpit. Having a career day against the Washington Commanders, Delpit has given the Cleveland Browns their third turnover on the day with his second Carson Wentz interception as Cleveland pulls away in the second half.

The Browns have played complementary football in the second half, surrendering just three points to the Commanders, while the offense has scored on every drive down the stretch as Amari Cooper has two touchdowns on the day. With three minutes left, this game is all but over as the Browns will win their seventh game of the season and finally find some success offensively.

WATCH: Amari Cooper and Deshaun Watson connect for another touchdown vs. Commanders

Watson to Amari for a second time today

The Cleveland Browns now have a comfortable lead against the Washington Commanders as quarterback Deshaun Watson finds wide receiver Amari Cooper for the second time today. Cooper now has three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, all in the second half of this game. Watson is now up to 169 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders.

The Browns have already gotten two takeaways from Carson Wentz and the Commanders in this one. Can they get another one here with five minutes left to seal this win for the Browns as they seek their seventh win of the 2022 campaign as they slug it out with the Commanders?
