Notre Dame offers Pittsburgh 2023 quarterback commit

Another flip target has gotten an offer

The Irish are leaving no stone unturned in their search for a 2023 quarterback. They have recently been after Baylor commit [autotag]Austin Novosad[/autotag] and recently hosted him for a visit.

[autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] isn’t going to wait for Novosad to make a decision on if he’s going to flip, Freeman also will try his hand at flipping another quarterback, current Pittsburgh commit [autotag]Kenny Minchey[/autotag]. The Tennessee quarterback has been committed to the Panthers since the end of April, but after tweeting out an offer from the Irish, it seems like he is very interested. Like Novosad, Minchey impressed at the Elite 11 camp which put many more eyes on the prospect.

The Irish have made it widely known they do indeed want a 2023 quarterback in their class, even with 2024 quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag] already committed. The 6-foot-2-inch and 210-pound Minchey is their next target.

Notre Dame hosted 5-star Missouri WR, reports claim it went well

The Irish are already working hard on their 2024 class

It was a very big day for Notre Dame Football on the recruiting trail on Tuesday. Multiple commitments ([autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag], [autotag]Drayk Bowen[/autotag], [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] to name a few) and committed but trying to flip ([autotag]Austin Novosad[/autotag]) were on campus.

Among that group visiting was 5-Star receiver [autotag]Ryan Wingo[/autotag] from St. Louis. This was his second visit to Notre Dame in the last 6 weeks, leading many to wonder if Wingo could be the next piece to the 2024 recruiting puzzle. Two of his potential future offensive classmates were there with him in Carr and Williams, no doubt they had their recruiting hats on as well, trying to entice Wingo to join them.

Many insiders via Twitter came out with positive statements following Wingo’s visit. That can only be viewed as good news from an Irish standpoint and very well could lead to Wingo being on campus again this fall to take in a game.

Report: Baylor quarterback commit to visit Notre Dame this week

The Irish are looking to make a huge flip

The Irish are still trying to find their 2023 quarterback and they are looking to bring out the spatula and flip one. Current Baylor commitment [autotag]Austin Novosad[/autotag] has been linked to Notre Dame for about a month and the courtship has taken a very interesting turn since the Irish offered Novosad a scholarship.

In a report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong (VIP), Novosad will be visiting with [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and checking out South Bend on Tuesday. Although Wiltfong doesn’t specify if the visit is an official or unofficial, the fact that Novosad is heading up north can only be viewed as a positive sign for Notre Dame.

The Irish have done a great job of making the quarterback comfortable, especially with 2024 quarterback commitment [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag] already in the fold. The report also notes that Novosad could visit Texas A&M, although that visit is not locked in.

Expect the Irish to roll out the red carpet for Novosad, as they need to continue to stack quarterbacks to give them options in the future.

Notre Dame atop 247Sports’ 2023 recruiting class rankings

What do you make of this?

With the verbal commitment from four-star receiver recruit [autotag]Jaden Greathouse[/autotag], Notre Dame strengthened its 2023 class further. In fact, 247Sports thinks very highly of what the Irish have done as far as talent coming in after this coming season. The site’s latest 2023 recruit rankings place Notre Dame at the very top. Its 17 four-star recruits are more than any other program, and five-star quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag] makes this group even stronger.

It’s very interesting to see this happen when the Irish’s independence could be on borrowed time thanks to the potential mega-conferences coming to college football. If this group is able to put it all together to give the still-independent program its first national title since 1988, that changes the conversation drastically. From there, the Irish would be able to recruit even more big-name talent and remain relevant for years. Boy, wouldn’t this be the perfect way to silence some of these critics once and for all?

Dante Moore trending to West coast school as announcement day is here

Is he off to the West coast?

The Irish and their courtship of Michigan star quarterback [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] has been documented very well. For Moore, his recruiting journey seems to be coming to an end as he will make his announcement in just a few hours on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Notre Dame was firmly in the mix, even the perceived leader but when 2024 Michigan quarterback [autotag]CJ Carr[/autotag] made his verbal to [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag], [autotag]Tommy Rees[/autotag] and the Irish, it seemed like Moore took that as a sign that the Irish were moving on. According to many insiders, it seems like Moore will choose Oregon at 12:45pm EST when he makes his selection official.

It is a loss for the Irish, but in the grand scheme of recruiting it might not be a big one. Yes, it would have been very nice to have both Moore and Carr in the same room, but the probability that the loser of the starting job transfer would be high, especially in this era.

We will all soon find out where Moore is headed, even if it’s not a bit South and much further West.
