Browns Peak Performers: Who stood out as Browns beat Bengals on MNF?

Who flashed the most as the Browns blew out the Bengals on Monday Night Football?

As the Cleveland Browns look to climb back from a 2-5 start to the season, a Monday night beatdown of the Cincinnati Bengals will go a long way toward building team morale. Coming away with a 32-13 victory over the Bengals, the Browns now advance to 3-5 on the season as they enter their bye week with the Miami Dolphins on the horizon.

The Browns have now played two games in a row for a full 60 minutes, even if they did not come away with a win over the Baltimore Ravens a week ago. Here we will take a look at individual performances in this game that helped contribute to a complete team win.

Who stood out the most in this game on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball for the Browns?

Bengals vs. Browns instant analysis: Defense steps up, offense catches fire in second half

The Browns came away with a much-needed win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. What stood out the most?

No David Njoku, no Wyatt Teller, no Denzel Ward, no Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, no problem. The Cleveland Browns overcame a steep injury report to come away with a massive Monday Night Football blowout against the Cincinnati Bengals.

On the day, quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw for 278 yards and a touchdown, going 17-of-22. His favorite target was once again Amari Cooper who went for a massive 131 yards and a touchdown on five catches. The Browns found a great balance, as Nick Chubb rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and Kareem Hunt added 72 total yards on 15 touches amid trade rumors.

The defense stepped up huge as well, forcing two turnovers and shutting the Bengals out in the first half. What stood out most from this much-needed Cleveland win?

WATCH: Browns step on Bengals’ throat with 10th Nick Chubb touchdown

The Browns are firmly in the driver’s seat as Nick Chubb has stepped on the throats of the Bengals with his second touchdown run of the game

Running back Nick Chubb has stuck the dagger into the hearts of the Cincinnati Bengals with his second touchdown run of the game. Chubb scored the first touchdown of the game and now may have scored the last as the Browns have scored on all three possessions of the second half.

The Browns are now up 32-6 with seven minutes to go in the game. Chubb is now up to 96 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries on the day. This is a massive win for the Browns after dropping their last four. As they likely advance to 3-5 on the season, the Browns will head into their bye week on a positive.

WATCH: Browns continue routing Bengals with Amari Cooper touchdown

The Browns continue to rout the Bengals as Jacoby Brissett finds Amari Cooper for another offensive score.

Not many saw this Monday Night Football showdown trending in this direction as the Cleveland Browns are blowing out the Cincinnati Bengals. Two drives, and two touchdowns out of the half for the Browns. First, it was a Jacoby Brissett scramble for six, and now wide receiver Amari Cooper has found the endzone to put the Browns up 25-0.

As the Browns have taught us, it is never over until it is over. But with three minutes left in the third quarter, the Bengals have a very steep hole to climb out of. This would be a huge and much-needed win should the Browns hold on against the Bengals.

WATCH: Jacoby Brissett puts Browns up 18 with touchdown run

Jacoby Brissett has put the Browns up 18 after running in for a touchdown vs. the Bengals.

The Cleveland Browns are now in the driver’s seat as they have gone up three scores on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. After kicking a field goal to end the half, the Browns have come out and scored on the opening drive of the second half as quarterback Jacoby Brissett scampered in for a touchdown run. They now hold an 18-0 lead over the Bengals.

The defensive side of the football has turned a new leaf through the first half of this one, forcing two turnovers in the first half. A.J. Green came away with an interception, and Sione Takitaki came away with a big strip-sack. They look to get another stop to get the Cleveland offense back on the field to stay in control of this primetime game.

Browns Injury Alert: Jack Conklin makes early trip to locker room vs. Bengals

Browns’ Right tackle Jack Conklin has exited early at the half against the Bengals

Just before the half struck, the Cleveland Browns were left without right tackle Jack Conklin. The starting right tackle was seen pointing to his foot as he entered the locker room early, leaving second-year tackle James Hudson to take over his post. Hudson has started two games for the Browns this season and played quite well. He may have to take over the rest of the way tonight.

Conklin has seen his career derailed by injuries over the past two seasons after being named an All-Pro in 2020. He almost retired this past offseason before returning to the Browns. As his contract is set to expire after the season, we hope this is not how he ends his time in Cleveland.

WATCH: Nick Chubb puts the Browns on top vs. Bengals on direct snap

The Browns have taken the lead over the Bengals in the second quarter as Nick Chubb runs it in for six.

The Cleveland Browns have jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals as Nick Chubb has scored his ninth rushing touchdown on the season. Capping off a long drive that featured quarterback Jacoby Brissett and wide receiver Amari Cooper, the Browns motioned Brissett to the sideline and gave Chubb the direct snap. Chubb did the rest.

The Bengals then jumped offsides on the point after attempt. The Browns then went for two points from the one-yard line, where Chubb once again pounded the football into the endzone. As the Browns’ defense continues to keep the Bengals out of the endzone and even intercepted Joe Burrow, can they sneak out a primetime win?

Browns announce Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Perrion Winfrey, 5 other inactives vs. Bengals

The Browns have announced their seven inactives for tonight’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, including Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

The Cleveland Browns have announced their inactives as they get ready to square off against the Cincinnati Bengals. Listing seven players as inactive, linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey are among them.

Owusu-Koramoah entered the game as questionable after being listed on the injury list all week. Winfrey appears to be a healthy scratch as he has yet to find his footing. Cornerback Denzel Ward, tight end David Njoku, guard Wyatt Teller, tackle Chris Hubbard, and quarterback Kellen Mond round out the rest of the list.

The chalk: Buffalo Bills

Who they play: vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)

I love QB Aaron Rodgers as a football player. I never thought I would be picking against him in a survivor pool. Yet here we are.

The Packers have been terrible this season. RB Aaron Jones and Rodgers have done their part. But the lack of receiving weapons has shown itself to be too much to overcome. Coming into Buffalo, the Packers are on a 3-game losing streak. This is a bad spot for Green Bay to try to get back on track.

Not only are the Bills coming off a bye week. They will also have CB Tre’Davious White back for this game. Just another talented player in the secondary for Green Bay to try and overcome.

The Packers have only been underdogs by more than a TD 7 times with Rodgers at QB. In those 7 games, the Packers are 0-7 straight up and 0-7 ATS. When Las Vegas thinks the Packers are going to be blown out, they are. And I expect the same here.

The Bills over the Packers is my favorite survivor play in Week 8.

Off the board: Cincinnati Bengals

Who they play: at Cleveland Browns, Monday 8:15 p.m. (ESPN)

The Browns have been on a downward spiral in recent weeks. Starting with a loss to the Atlanta Falcons and continuing last week with a divisional 23-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The defense, which was thought to be a strength, has taken a step down and with Jacoby Brissett at QB the offense is struggling outside of RB Nick Chubb.

After a hard-fought 30-26 victory over the New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati returned home and blasted the Falcons 35-17 on Sunday. RB Joe Mixon had a TD and the connection of QB Joe Burrow to WR Ja’Marr Chase accounted for 2 more in the victory.

Despite losing Chase for a few weeks with a hip injury, the Bengals finally have things rolling and they will continue the roll with a victory over the Browns Monday night.

Bengals will be without Ja’Marr Chase vs. Browns on MNF

As the Browns prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bengals, they will not have to gameplan around Ja’Marr Chase

The Cleveland Browns will have one less threat to deal with on Monday night when the Cincinnati Bengals make the trip up I-71 North. First reported by Malik Wright and confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chase is facing a 4-to-6 recovery time with a hip injury. While the Browns have injuries of their own to work through, this is a massive blow to the opposition.

The Bengals still have plenty of threats to keep defensive coordinator awake at night, however, as Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will step up as Joe Burrow’s primary pass catchers. The Browns currently rank as the 28th-best defense in DVOA, so it will take a lot more than one player missing this game to stifle the Bengals’ offense.

However, losing Chase is a big loss for the Bengals regardless.
