A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home.

A former Nebraska quarterback has found a new home. Chubba Purdy announced on Twitter that he is committed to San José State for the 2024 season.

This is Purdy’s second transfer in his collegiate career. Purdy arrived in Nebraska after spending two seasons at Florida State. He played in 12 games for the Huskers across two seasons, making four starts.

Purdy also started in the final two games of the 2023 season for the Cornhuskers, where he threw for 358 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing for 147 yards.

For his Nebraska career, Purdy tallied up 529 passing yards, 253 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

The quarterback now joins a San José State team that finished 7-6 in the 2023 season. The Spartans tied for first in the Mountain West Conference and faced Coastal Carolina in the EasyPost Hawai’i Bowl, where they lost 24-14.

The quarterback just completed his second season at Nebraska after initially starting his college career at Florida State. In two seasons in Lincoln, Purdy appeared in 12 games, starting in four of them.

His record as a starter at Nebraska was 0-4. He threw for 529 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions. Purdy also ran for 315 yards and three touchdowns.

Purdy came into the 2023 season as the third quarterback on the depth chart behind Jeff Sims and Heinrich Haarberg. With Sims transferring as well, Nebraska’s QB room now of three main players in Heinrich Haarberg, Daniel Kaelin and Dylan Raiola.
